24.01.2022 Hello all my fellow horse owners, I found out some interesting news yesterday! The Pet Stock shop next door to Heatherbrae Bunnings is stocking Caribu horse rugs! Same price as the online shop so we save on postage and get the joy of walking into a shop and making an instant purchase

15.01.2022 Ruby is a 6 y/o 12hh Welsh Mountain Pony. She is a super sweet pony - willing to please and absolutely no bite or kick towards people or other horses. Under sad...dle she has never shied, bucked or bolted and has soft steering and breaks. Ruby never says 'no' to anything and nothing seems to phase her. Her demeanor is exactly the same out and about as at home. She has experienced push bikes, dirt bikes, working equitation obstacles, plastic bags, naughty dogs, children. While being interested she doesn't react. She is great with feet and floating. Catching not her strongest point but no real issue either. She is fantastic on a leadline or lunge on the ground or off another horse - walks or trots along, with no pressure on the lead. Under saddle I've been working her in the arena and on trails. She is not herd bound or competitive at all. She has 3 lovely paces. She is quite a forward horse so would be best as a 2nd horse for confident child or with an experienced family for a beginner on leadline . As I am too tall to do much with her, Ruby is super keen to find a little buddy and forge ahead doing all the fun things ponies should do! Located at Girvan, 1 hour north of Newcastle. $2000. I can provide 2 cotton combos and 1 synthetic combo rug. See more

11.01.2022 Meet Kitty Cat, a little Palouse pony who had to be kept slightly under weight because she was so susceptible to founder. Any weight gain would result in lameness due to laminitis. Kitty Cat went to her new owner and became a customer of mine about 8 months ago. As you can see from the 'before' pictures, the angle of the pastern was much steeper compared to the hoof wall. This is indicative of a run-forward toe which can include separation of the lamina around the toe. The he...els in the before pictures are also quite high. High heels and run-forward toes can predispose horses to laminitis. The pictures of the solar surface confirm deductions made by the hoof wall pictures and also show quite a convex sole. By un-weighting the hoof wall, especially around the toe, the lamina bond has been able to strenghten. Reducing the heel height has improved the angle of the pedal bone and functionality of the frog. As a result the foot becomes much stronger, with the pedal bone supported within the hoof capsule rather than dropping down and squashing the circulatory and nervous system running along the sole of the foot. As seen in the 'after' pictures, the angle of the hoof wall is now the same as the pastern angle. The heels are lower so the frog contacts the ground more and the lamina line is very narrow around the whole foot. The solar surface is concave rather than convex which indicates the pedal bone should be sitting at a more correct angle so as not to impact the tissue between it and the sole. The good news for Kitty Cat is that she has gone through the entire spring and summer without getting sore feet and has even been able to put some weight on which I'm sure is every pony's aim in life. Thank you Tracy Longbottom for the opportunity to make a little case study on Kitty Cat and for your diligent care and commitment See more

04.01.2022 Hi everyone, this gorgeous little lady has been with me since last November to be started under saddle. She is now working nicely in the arena and lovely on tra...il rides and is ready to find a new home! Ruby is a 6y/o Welsh Mountain pony about 12hh. She is green broke so needs to go to a fairly experienced and confident rider. She is a very happy worker and totally polite on the ground. I can foresee a lovely partnership ahead for her with the right person . Flick me a msg if you are interested and I can give you more details. See more
