24.01.2022 HAPPY EASTER PLEASE REMEMBER THE RESERVE IS CLOSED TO ALL CAMPING - BY LAW

23.01.2022 UPDATE. to posting 28 Jan 2020 YOU ARE ADVISED NOT TO DRINK THE TAP WATER AT THE RESERVE. UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE..

21.01.2022 OPEN Hi all, at last some good news. Today (28 January) I've had conversations with DELWP (Wodonga and Ovens) , the Alpine Shire, Ovens ICC, the Local CFA and our caretaker Mr Jim King. Consensus is we should OPEN the Reserve to camping. ( phew at last) PLEASE NOTE ... THERE is still fire activity in the area. THERE are still occasional road closures The CFA , Police , DELWP, Parks Victoria , Any member of either the Nug Nug Reserve Campers Association or The Committee of Management, Local Shire or Local Resident, can not and will not be responsible for your personal safety or loss. THERE is only TELSTRA(grr) Reception in the Reserve THERE is only one road into and out of the Reserve. YOU are advised to download and become proficient with the VicEmergency app. YOU are advised to listen to local ABC Radio. THE water in the CREEK and TAPS throughout the RESERVE will be UNFIT for DRINKING COMMON SENSE OUT OF RESPECT for the Local Residents ,and the BUSHFIRE THREAT that they have endured, PLEASE NO CAMPFIRES as NO CAMPFIRES means NO RISK and NO SMOKE. Thanks for your patience. Stay safe, visit often and spend what you can. Cheers Nug

21.01.2022 *UPDATE - Still closed at this current moment* Hi Everyone!! With the move to Step 3 for Regional Victoria, as to be expected, we've been inundated with calls and emails asking if the reserve is opening back up again. ... No decision has been made yet as things need to be worked out behind the scenes - as in how to follow DHHS requirements and guidelines and if thats possible - eg: contact tracing/social distancing/cleaning of the facilities etc. Here and the website are your best places for current, up to date information on the reserves status. If the website is still showing as closed, then that is where we are at. Nug is not a caravan park where we formally take your booking, know how long you're here for, how many of you are here and where you come from in advance. We are a campground, and what we love most about Nug is its laidback and relaxed atmosphere - which in this case, makes things a bit trickier. Please bare with us a little longer and we promise to update everyone here as soon as a decision has been made. Stay tuned for now. (And know we can't wait to be back around the campfire with you again... hopefully sooner rather than later!)

17.01.2022 COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update Dear Campers, As we look to the upcoming holidays, the unprecedented COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation is currently impacting any definite plans. Things are evolving daily, and we understand the feelings of uncertainty and frustration everyone must be experiencing. Especially after the recent bushfires we just want to be back to our favourite place, supporting the local community and traders and relaxing by the campfire.... As of this current moment (March 19th AM) we are looking forward to the upcoming school holiday/Easter break and AT THIS STAGE the reserve shall be open. But these are uncertain times and things can change depending on Government advice and declarations. It's ultimately about being safe. What we really want you to know is: The toilets/shower block are currently deep cleaned every 2 weeks and over the break are usually cleaned, scrubbed and maintained on a voluntary basis daily by the committee. Should the reserve be open, this job will now fall to each and every camper (That’s you!) to maintain the cleanliness of the toilets/amenities during this period. Just like if you were at home! And if you are sick, for the sake of every other camper’s health and safety, please, stay away! We’ll keep you updated as things change, or we know more info! Hopefully we’ll all be happy campers again soon!

In regards to the Governments current advice re: Covid-19 - Please, PLEASE, DO NOT TRAVEL to the reserve this holiday period. Alpine Shire Council has asked all visitors/holidaymakers to leave the area and return home immediately. For the health, safety and wellbeing of you all and the surrounding locals and towns we ask that you stay away so as not to put any unecessary pressure or risk on the towns supplies and medical facilities. To the local businesses and traders, Although we wish we could be there to support the town with our tourist dollars after the recent bushfires, please know that when all this is done and life returns to normal we will be back to support you! <3 - Nug Nug P.s: Don't forget to wash your hands!

14.01.2022 UPDATE: 04/06/20 - NUG NUG RESERVE STILL CLOSED Hi All! I understand everyone is excited for the long weekend and the chance to finally get away again. ... 11.01.2022 Something to think about. Last Easter, before the "Bushfires" and before "COVID 19" The Buffalo River Community and the Nug Nug Campers raised in excess of $2000.00 for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal. We, the campers, won't be there this Easter. Please Please continue to give generously.... Stay safe and Wash your hands. See more

09.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Dear Campers, After talks with Alpine Shire Council, Parks Vic, DELWP and taking into account Government advice to NOT TRAVEL, the Committee of Management have made the decision to CLOSE THE RESERVE INDEFINITELY.... Please note the power and water will be switched off, The bins will be collected and the toilets will be locked up. If you were thinking of going, no facilities or amenities will be available and you will be asked to leave immediately. At this time it is imperative that we place the health and safety of all above any want of our own. These holidays, camping in the driveway will have to do! We are saddened by the current situation the world is facing but know closing the reserve is the right thing to do at this time. Stay safe, look after each other and know that we sure do look forward to welcoming you all back around the reserve one day in the future! (We'll be sure to let you know as soon as that happens!) - Nug Nug
