25.01.2022 One of my favourite images taken by my mate Lachlan Gilding! It serves as a very important reminder to slow down on our roads and help protect our special wildl...ife. A male shingleback skink defends its long-dead partner from oncoming traffic on the busy Eyre Peninsula highway. Shingleback skinks are one of the only known monogamous reptile species on the planet and will often stay by their partners side for several days after death. "Seeing this animal trying to defend its long deceased partner from passing vehicles was heartbreaking, Lachlan says. These lizards mate for life and so this particular animal was likely going to defend its partner until it eventually would meet the same fate. This image has been shortlisted in the Our Impact category of the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year awards. South Australian Museum

04.01.2022 Dogs who wear muzzles are good dogs. Dogs who arent dog friendly are good dogs. Dogs who are leash reactive are good dogs. Dogs who need space are good dogs. D...ogs who are scared of strangers are good dogs. If you see someone clearly making steps to avoid you or your dog while you are out walking, please respect them. If someone lets you know that their dog needs space or isnt dog friendly, please respect them. If you see someone clip their dog on lead when you approach, clip yours on too and give them space. Some dogs dont want to interact with other dogs or people and thats fine. Im sure you dont want to interact with everyone you see either! They still deserve to have a great quality of life and go everywhere yours gets to go as long as they are taking the right precautions. Having a dog that needs space is a challenge all of its own, but we are doing our best to advocate for them to insure they live the best lives we can give them. Training cant happen at all unless we take these dogs into public places. To everyone with friendly dogs, please dont be offended and please dont judge. A nervous dog can happen to anyone at anytime. Instead of playing the blame game, lets all try make that dogs life more comfortable and its owners life much easier by being understanding Picture credit : whole dog journal. @initandabove - hope, the rescued street dog
03.01.2022 Nullakai vet wishes to discuss some health issues surrounding the current coronavirus(COVID-19) There is no evidence at this stage that shows dogs and cats spread or become ill from COVID-19. Human to human contact is the main source of transmission and washing your hands for 20 secs remains the best way to prevent becoming infected. Regardless of COVID-19 hand washing before and after playing with your pets and handling food remains a fantastic practice.
03.01.2022 Does anyone own this cat? He's an entire male found on Rosedale Rd. Please phone Nullakai Vet Services. 98452245.
