25.01.2022 PUPPY SCHOOL UPDATE After yet another setback due to COVID-19, our puppy school classes were put on hold again, however we will be running them again in November. Each puppy will attend 4 classes over 4 weeks. During this time you will learn about obedience training, toilet training, nutrition, health advice, socialisation, calming/settling tips, good habits, appropriate rewarding/discipline, and more! Puppies must be between the ages of 8-16 weeks, and be up to date with ...vaccinations. Exceptions may be made for puppies slightly older than 16 weeks, however this will need to be discussed with one of our puppy school instructors first. November classes will run on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm, beginning 04/11/20. There are currently 2 spots left for November and bookings are essential. If there is enough demand, a second class may possibly run on Monday nights but this will depend on numbers. Please call 5862 1655 during clinic hours for more information or to enrol. 25.01.2022 HAPPY VET NURSE DAY! Today we extend our thanks to our wonderful vet nurses Romy, Emily, Amber and Sophie, who work tirelessly alongside the vets. These girls are nurses, cleaners, anaesthesiologists, phlebotomists, pathologists, pharmacists, teachers, midwives, dental hygienists, surgical assistants, radiologists, groomers. They are treat givers, pat bestowers and cuddle specialists. They love your pets like they are their own. When you say goodbye to your beloved pet, they say goodbye too. They are there when you can't be. They are a shoulder to cry on. They are passionate and kind and driven. They are not 'just nurses'. They don't do it for thanks, but today is for them and we'll say it anyway, THANK YOU

23.01.2022 Ollie was such a good boy for his 3rd puppy vaccination today

Thank you to all who have supported us through the crazy year that has been 2020, we are truly grateful. A few tips for a pet safe Christmas: - be aware of loud noises and how they may affect your pet, fireworks are popular around this time of year, have a safe and secure place for your pet. ... - chocolate and other food toxicities, as well as pancreatitis, are all too common during the holiday period, don't give in to the puppy dog eyes, pets do not need to share in the Christmas feast. - dispose of wrapping paper immediately and keep Christmas decorations out of reach. Gifts containing food should also be kept out of reach. Christmas Day: CLOSED Boxing Day: CLOSED Monday 28/12 (Boxing Day Public Holiday): 9:00am-1:00pm New Year's Day & Saturday 2/1: CLOSED We are available 24/7 for emergencies only. 20.01.2022 WELCOME DR. GEORGIA HOWELL Our lovely new vet Georgia has been with us for a little over 6 weeks now and has been a great addition to our tight knit team. Many of you may have already met her in clinic or on farm. Georgia recently graduated from Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, but due to COVID-19 was unable to have a graduation ceremony. Tonight we celebrated with dinner and our own little graduation ceremony at the clinic instead.... Congratulations Georgia and welcome to NVC!

15.01.2022 SPRINGTIME Spring is a lovely time of year, but as the warmer weather comes around, there are a few things that come with it! Creating a checklist of things to do and things to be aware of is a great way to prepare yourself and your pets for the warmer months to come. - Vet check; a great place to start, as many things on your to do list may be done at this visit!... - Up to date vaccinations - Up to date parasite prevention; fleas, ticks, intestinal worms, heartworm - Seasonal allergies - Toxic plants, baits, fertilisers and other gardening chemicals - Snakebites; we have already seen 2 cases - Stinging insects - Grass seeds - Grooming - Unlimited access to shade and clean, fresh water - Hot pavement and roads; walk in cool parts of the day - Heat stroke; keep an eye on outside temperatures, especially if your pet may be prone to heat stress - Outside cats may need a bell collar to warn nesting birds and other wildlife of their presence To schedule a Spring vet check, or to discuss any of the above, call 5862 1655

15.01.2022 Happy International Dog Day! We hope all your good boys and good girls get an extra cuddle (and maybe even an extra treat ) for their special day! 10.01.2022 FAREWELL DR. YANG! Today we extend our best wishes to our very own Dr. Yang Loh as he begins a new adventure in the Northern Territory For the last 18 months, Yang has been a brilliant addition to our mixed practice. He is a kind, hard working, knowledgeable and compassionate vet who will be missed greatly. We thank you, Yang, for the care and devotion you have shown to each patient during your time at NVC

08.01.2022 HEATWAVE As summer draws closer, and especially on this scorching day, it's important to remember to keep your pets safe and cool to prevent heat stress. Heat stress can be fatal to even the healthiest animal. Brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds such as Pugs, Bulldogs, Boston Terriers and Boxers are more at risk but animals of all shapes and sizes can be affected. To reduce the risk of heat stress:... - provide a cool place indoors if possible - provide plenty of shade, a cool surface to lay on and unlimited access to fresh water - walk/exercise your dog in the cooler parts of the day or not at all - do not leave your dog (or any pet) in the car, even if the windows are down Learn the signs of heat stress and act quickly. If you notice heavy panting, excessive salivation, vomiting, brick red or purple gums, high body temperature, racing heart, staggering, seizures, strange behaviour, collapse or unconsciousness you must call us immediately on 5862 1655

07.01.2022 Dogtor Bones would like to remind all of our lovely clients that as of midnight tonight, it is mandatory to wear a mask when leaving your house. This means, of course, that if you are visiting the clinic for any reason such as consults, food/medication pick up, surgery admissions/discharges, then a mask must be worn correctly. Who wouldn't want to wear one when you could look THIS good?!
