16.01.2022 Update for our Nura Gili and UNSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community: We’re making some changes to this Facebook page, to revitalise it with more stories and updates for our students and the broader community! A part of these changes includes changing the name of the page from ‘Nura Gili’ to ‘UNSW Indigenous’. We’re making this change so we can capture the broader initiatives of UNSW’s Indigenous Strategy led by the PVC Indigenous office and across the whole uni...versity. We’ll still be keeping our community up to date on important student information and stories from Nura Gili on this page. Don’t worry Nura Gili isn’t going anywhere. All our important communications and updates from the centre will continue to come through this page, and you can still reach out through here for all Nura Gili related questions. We hope you’re all managing okay in these difficult times with COVID-19. For students, don’t forget you can get in contact with us on the UNSW Indigenous student Moodle page, or by contacting Nura Gili directly. If you need any help with Moodle, just shoot us a message. Keep an eye out on more updates and stories from our students, staff and researchers shortly. Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous & Nura Gili team.

13.01.2022 #CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FOR NURA GILI COMMUNITY (17 March): UNSW continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and is responding as effectively and compassionately as we can. This is a challenging time for the University and your ongoing support is enormously appreciated. UNSW will be following the advice from NSW Health to reduce the potential for virus transmission. The advice was not to close the campus but to practice social distancing (steps detailed in the image b...elow). What does this mean for Nura Gili and its services? --All Nura Gili staff including the Academic Support Officers and Student Support Officers will be working from home indefinitely. All staff are equipped with IT equipment to communicate as normal with students via videoconferencing, phone and emails. Student support will continue to be offered online in this way. --We have established a Moodle for Indigenous students. The Moodle is accessed through self-enrolment through the link and key that has been emailed to students. --The Moodle will be used by PVCI and Nura Gili staff to share updates on the University response to COVID-19, Nura Gili services, and other important information. --To minimise the spread of COVID-19, the Nura Gili space will be closed along with several other key areas within the University. --The Centre has closed from 5pm today (Tuesday 17 March). We appreciate this is going to be an inconvenience for many students. The overall health of students and staff is paramount and by closing the space we are hoping to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the space. --For as long as classes are going ahead via online means we would still encourage our students to participate in ITP tutoring. Most (if not all) ITP tutoring will now be conducted online. All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students should check your student email for full details on the updates for Nura Gili. If you have any concerns, contact Nura Gili Support Officers.
