24.01.2022 Working with so many different women who are pregnant or have given birth, we’ve noticed there’s still this belief that a caesarean birth isn’t ‘natural’. In our opinion every birth is natural whether is was vaginally born or caesarean. We all need to be a little kinder to ourselves. In the words of @my.own.birth ~ caesarean birth the only time you endure major surgery and are expected to look after a little person straight afterwards. Whatever happens on the day REMEM...BER you are still an amazing mother! Image by @my.own.birth reminding us what you can still ask for when have an caesarean. See more

24.01.2022 S T R E T C H M A R K S Stretch marks develop in nine out of ten pregnancies, usually in the sixth or seventh month. 18.01.2022 Collagen can do more to than just help our hair grow (hair loss is a common side effect after giving birth) - it can also help us heal from the inside. After birth, collagen and elastin undergo a rapid breakdown. Incredibly though increasing collagen in our diet can help to rebuild tissues in order for our pelvic floor, abdominal muscles, and uterus to heal after giving birth. Collagen is the most abundant protein found throughout the body, especially in our connecti...ve tissues, skin and bones; in fact, collagen makes up one third of the protein in the human body. Here at Nurtur we love collagen rich foods such as bone broth and delicious bars for pregnancy and postpartum. Have you ever tried @beautyfood.com.au ? A delicious collagen bar (our favourite flavour is peanut nutter) that provides 7.1g of collagen. A perfect snack throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Libby @libbybabet mum to daughter Izzy and background as a health journalist, is the co-Founder of Beauty Food. She’s incredibly passionate about finding natural ways to look after your body, inside and out, so you can live life to the fullest! 15.01.2022 We were so touched by @bestbirthco post yesterday about this week’s announcement that its been recommended in COVID hotspots water immersion or showers when labouring be disallowed. The thing that upsets us most at Nurtur is that this recommendation is not evidence-based making us feel this further surprises women’s rights in birth. Does labouring in water pose a great threat of spreading COVID than out of the water? Is a hospital bed better? Will they start to take away fit balls, props (e.g. Mexican scarf) to help women give birth? How far will this go? Image

14.01.2022 Hyperemesis - it's also known as 'morning sickness' and despite beliefs it only affects women in the first trimester, it can in fact affect women in all trimesters. For 20% of women, morning sickness continues after the first trimester. Waves of nausea, vomiting, feeling ‘hungover’ are common signs - often triggered by certain odours, heat, spicy foods but sometimes no triggers at all. We love the recent post from @back_to_birth who spoke about this topic with some... refreshing and fascintating insights. One thing that was highlighted (which we totally agree on!) was that a lot of the foods that do stay down are often not the healthiest! We agree don’t beat yourself up about this - its truly a challenging time and you don’t want to experience any more stress onto your body. REMEMBER eating anything is better than eating nothing at all. We don’t know the reasons behind morning sickness but a Nurtur Baby Maternity Leave/ Babyshower Gift is the perfect way to help your Pregnant friend or yourself feel pampered, relaxed and loved in this beautiful but also challenging time. 14.01.2022 S L E E P Who struggled to sleep when pregnant? Who is pregnant and currently struggling to sleep? Sleep is so unique in every pregnancy. Some women sleep soundly in all the trimesters. Some not, especially towards the end.... Its common for you to sleep more than usual during the first trimester of your pregnancy. It's normal to feel tired as your body works to protect and nurture the developing baby. The placenta (the organ that nourishes the fetus until birth) is just forming, your body is making more blood, and your heart is pumping faster. It's usually later in pregnancy that most women have trouble getting enough deep, uninterrupted sleep. Many pregnant women report that their dreams become more vivid than usual, and some even have nightmares. Stress can interfere with sleep, too. Maybe you're worried about your baby's health, anxious about your abilities as a parent, or feeling nervous about the delivery itself. All of these feelings are normal. One way to get a better night’s sleep when pregnant is to relax. Luckily, we’ve designed a seasonal box to help you navigate you’re way through this special journey and relax with all our luxe treats inside. Nurtur believes you deserve a little extra love at this time. See more

14.01.2022 It takes time to learn how to feed. Each baby will be different too. Every baby will learn to nurse in their own beautiful way. Milk production supply can be a problem for many breastfeeding women. Thankfully lactation tea can help women with this. Lactation tea is a way of helping mums who are needing a helping hand. They may feel they have tried everything and exhausted from all the guilt that comes from low supply.... 13.01.2022 I’m Nina, the Founder of Nurtur Baby. As there’s a few more faces around here I thought I’d introduce myself! I created Nurtur Baby whilst I was pregnant with my beautiful boy Hunter (pictured here!) Nurtur Baby was born from the idea that every woman going through pregnancy needed to be part of a loving community AND deserved premium, luxe babyshower and maternity leave gifts. I’ve LOVED building this community and can wait for it to continually evolve and help more and... more prenatal and postpartum women. Here’s 5 fun facts about me! 1 I believed in mermaids until I was about 21. I really wished they were true! Maybe they are! 2 I have a beautiful English Staffy and we picked her because she’s a Nanny dog and great with children 3 I’m an Aquarius 4 I live in Sydney now but before moving here I didn’t enjoy sunbathing and ‘get’ sitting on a beach (now I love it!) 5 I’m obsessed with all things pregnancy and babies. Can you tell?! If you have anything in common let me know below! See more

13.01.2022 I was three seconds away from crying. I was exhausted, stressed and felt nauseous for weeks. These are the recollections of Nina (Founder of Nurtur Baby) in her first trimester. She found this part of the pregnancy the hardest. ... Nina isn’t alone. For a lot of women the first trimeter can be hard. Relationships, friendships and work will all have to change now. The unknown of what the future holds, not to mention sore boobs, bigger belly and morning sickness can make this trimester a tough one for many. It’s amazing though what a gift from a loved one can do. Receiving a gift from a friend, partner, colleague in her pregnancy shows that they care and aren’t alone. Nurtur Baby understands this and why we’re sharing this with you. Whilst Nina was pregnant with her little boy Hunter she struggled to find a way to treat herself to a pregnancy friendly box of treats. Friends also commented that they couldn’t find a suitable hamper or box to buy for her at her Baby Shower. Nina then dug a little deeper and decided to enrich pregnancies by creating a beautiful seasonal pregnancy wellness box. Each product is a consciously curated offering designed to enrich all trimesters and Muma & Buba. A gift represents so much. Nurtur Baby makes sure it’s a good one. See more

11.01.2022 Do not feel guilty for not baking cookies whilst being pregnant or after giving birth. Actually don’t feel guilty for anything. You’ve done an amazing thing growing a baby inside you for 9 months to then give birth to new life. We can often beat ourselves up for not doing everything we think we should be doing. When in reality you’re doing an amazing job. It may not be perfect - but who is really doing the prefect job? And what is perfect?... Your world isn’t going to collapse if you haven’t baked those cookies. You need to give yourself a break and look at all the amazing things YOU uniquely do. Sometimes we need a helping hand to complete the forever to-do-list and that’s ok. That’s why we’ve teamed up with 180 Cakes @180cakesau for this seasons Pregnancy Wellness Box. We want to help women who are time poor, don’t want to bake...(whatever the reason) but wanted to eat nutritious treats that they can make in their own kitchen. We wanted to give the Nurtur community a sweet treat that was also healthy at the same time - plus helping an Australian small business and fellow mum. Let us know what your favourite treat is?

11.01.2022 Most mother’s can relate. You become so focused on your nutrition throughout pregnancy but once the baby arrives it accidentally becomes the bottom of your priority list. Being specialised in pre-natal and postpartum pilates/yoga/barre, naturally the Co-Founder of Nurtur Baby, Nina, developed an interest in nutrition in these areas of women’s health.... She knows too well the effects of poor nutrition postpartum. She recently spoke about her hair falling out. She also got her bloods done and her hormones were all out of balance. However, having been dedicated to her new way of eating only for a short while, she has seen amazing improvements to her hormones, hair health and energy levels. Key things have been: ~ Eating good fats at every meal ~ Main meal at lunch ~ Learning how to build a balance plate ~ Quick no cook meals One book we can’t recommend enough is the Postnatal Nutrition Handbook by fellow mums @moniquecormacknutrition @christianavelis_nutrition We love it for it’s: ~ Breastfeeding nutrition tips ~ ‘’No cook meals ~ Healthy snacks ~ How to manage sugar cravings ~ 10 delicious exclusive recipes For all our beautiful community you can luckily receive % . . 09.01.2022 We all have this internal voice and hope that after giving birth we will bounce back right away. Yes I have said this before I’m not extremely worried about my body but that doesn’t mean I don’t think about it time to time. My first 7wks as brand new mama have been amazing and of course my focus is on the girls. I haven’t left my house much except for medical appointments and all I have been wearing is baggy and sport clothes. Last week I started to feel a bit more self... awake of my body and I realised non of my jeans or even jackets fits me, why? because my belly is still looking like I’m 2 months pregnant and I know this as a lady asked me at the shops about my baby! Yes that’s all it took for me to start feeling down and upset about my belly. It took a couple of days to convinced myself about feeling upset isn’t worthy, and instead start appreciating my body for what it’s been through. So off I went to get a couple of items for my wardrobe, I just wanted to walk into my closet and don’t think about what can I try on today so see if it fits me or not. if you are on the same boat do yourself a favour and get some new items, it will really take the pressure off trying on your old clothes! ~ our beautiful muse Patty a recent mum of twin girls. Nurtur appreciates the realities of motherhood. Treat your pregnant or recent friend who’s given birth with the best possible present - a Nurtur Baby Pregnancy Wellness Box See more
