05.01.2022 As a parent, I understand the struggles of finding care for your children and the cost. Many of us have no support network to help us with childcare. There is no village. Nannies and babysitters do deserve to be paid at least minimum wage, they too possibly have a family to support and bills to pay. I see the but it is cash argument thrown around quite a bit, or you are just going to be sitting on the couch while they are sleeping, your time is your time, many nannies are qua...lified, they pay for their own training, insurances, resources, receive no super payments for the work they do and most are not even paid minimum wage. Would your gardener or other people you engage to provide a service in your home work for under $24. 36 an hour, which is the current minimum casual wage for over 21. There is cases in court now from families under paying. I suggest if you are worried pay into a bank account, ask for a written record of payment, even if the nanny doesn’t have an ABN as for a receipt.
