20.01.2022 Following SA Health direction effective as of midnight tonight (Monday 30th November): ALL people are required to wear single use surgical masks when on healthcare sites. This includes all staff, patients & family members of patients, not including children from 12 years and younger. Cloth masks are not suitable for health care settings, all masks must be surgical masks. We will have some available for patients unable to access. ... If you’re getting back into things and getting some niggles, or perhaps overdid it already it’s most likely to do with LOAD- intensity, duration and/or frequency. If you’re about to restart exercise aim to 30% less intensity at a shorter distance, then slowly increase intensity and then distance. The same goes for weights in the gym. ... 05.01.2022 From today, masks will no longer be mandatory for: people present in health care settings (this includes staff and visitors at residential aged care facilitie...s) people working in personal care services (hairdressers, beauty salons, tattoo parlours and similar businesses). Face masks are an additional physical barrier and help to stop the spread of COVID-19. 01.01.2022 Junior sports are resuming (with a camera shy 7year old) If your junior has started/is starting winter sport soon, there are a couple of movements you can add in to their play, training and exercise to help them return injury-free: > Hopping: This is wonderful for tendon loading, coordination and balance. Try 5 travelling hops in a straight line on one side then the same on the other, one side is generally stronger ... >Jumping (2 feet at a time): Jumping happens in most sports, and is particularly important for AFL, netball & basketball. Try 10 consecutive forward jumps with feet should-width apart > Chasey or Red Rover: Change in direction, acceleration and decision making are key in many sports. Make it fun with a family game. Heel and Achilles’ tendon pain is a common complaint in the 8yrs-14yr age group, particularly in jumping sports. If your child has pain that limits their ability to participate a podiatrist may be able to help.
