12.01.2022 Forever coming out of my cave. https://youtu.be/zVrxu3WAwx4 What I love about rock climbing, is that it is so much more than just a sport. It is a deeply magnificent and humbling interaction with the Earth, and despite having to leave the ground to do it, it is incredibly grounding and meditative. My achievemanet today Bob’s Hollow, Margaret River WA (just look at that view!), was symbolic for me, and required a little me time afterwards to process. For several years I have s...uffered from strong elbow pain and RSI in both arms, and thought I would never be able to achieve my decades long wish to become a rock climber. Here I am, completely smashing my own expectations and climbing well beyond what I ever thought possible. The big move in this climb requires you to climb out of the safety of a cave, with your back to the ground and reach for holds you can barely see, and then hauling your body weight from about one foot below your hands, up above the clip to the ledge above. I’ve seen it done far more gracefully than that, but today, I’m just so happy I managed to get outta that cave, and caught a swell, caught a wave, to another inspiring place. On top of that, I have been introduced to such a welcoming and supportive community of amazing people, who are just as crazy as me, in all the best ways When I approached the wall and took a deep breath today, I already had tears stinging my eyes, knowing what I was about to do, the lyrics from that song playing in my head. When it was done, I realised the reason I was so emotional, was because this is the first time in about five years, that all aspects of my life are moving in a positive direction. My physical health, mental health, work, education, relationships, and community are all thriving, and my heart is SO FULL of gratitude for this time in my life, and particularly all of my climbing mentors and belayers who I couldn’t have done this without. There are so many more of you crazy monkeys I wanted to add to the list, but I am absolutely shattered from an epic day and seriously need to get to bed Thank you to everyone who has helped me on this journey, your belays, advice, and especially your pa

05.01.2022 Crag kraut! I eat fermented foods everyday, even when I’m on the move. Healthy eating is not hard, it’s a mind set, just like reaching for that next hold! #cragsnacks #cragkraut #livingthedream #getvertical

04.01.2022 Ahhhhh bacteria! A necessity in life. In this day and age many people are overly afraid of bacteria, but in fact 99% of bacteria is Good for you! And as for those bad buggers, it's good to have a few of them around too, so your immune system can get stronger by fighting them Lucky me, I get to travel around teaching people about bacteria and how to incorporate these helpful microbes into your life with tasty foods and drinks Recently I taught workshops in Geraldton and Carnarvon and stopped in Shark Bay for a little holiday in between. At Hamelin pool I learned about these microbial mats that convert carbon dioxide into carbon and free oxygen with the help of sunlight. They are also thriving in an environment twice as salty as the sea and with temps above 45 degrees. Yowza! So cool
