19.01.2022 Have you ever made baked beans?? So so easy and waaaaaaaay tastier than the premade ones! AND did you know combining legumes with whole grain food such as whole grain bread or pasta, makes this high fibre food a COMPLETE PROTEIN source as well! That's a full amino acid profile! In other words, the exact same essential amino acids that are found in meats.... The high fibre content and high protein makes this humble bean a satisfying meal keeping you fuller for longer and steadying your blood glucose levels. And just when you thought it had it all... throw in a great source of resistant starch, the stuff that keeps your gut healthy by feeding your good gut bacteria!! So, have this quick meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner served on toast with avo, spinach and maybe even an egg and feel confident that you'll be keeping your taste buds, blood sugars, muscles and tummy happy!
11.01.2022 I'm not one for calorie counting but I do believe that it's important for people to be informed and understand the information that's out there. In the science of nutrition when we talk about energy, we measure it using kilojoules or kJ. I have had a number of convos with people this week about balancing their nutrition.... All of these people have been surprised to findnout that gram for gram carbs and protein are pretty comparable! Therefore if your diet is unbalanced in one area, eg. High in protein and veg but low in carbs, swapping a serve of protein for a serve of carbs wont actually increase your calorie intake -- gram for gram, that is.
10.01.2022 Meet Meagan Hi! I’m Meagan and I have been working as a Dietitian for around 9 years now. I started this business to connect with and help more people in the community better understand the link between food and health to help them manage their medical conditions.... I love helping people, seeing their progress, their BREAKTHROUGHS when they make the link between other aspects of their life and how this is affecting their health and mindset. I have worked in hospitals and GP clinics and now, thanks to COVID, I have learnt to pivot and work 100% from home, serving clients through online portals. More recently I have experienced the effects of focussing on mindset for long lasting change, so guess what because I love to learn more to help my clients, I’m studying again! This time, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). In VERY basic terms, the study of how the language of the mind effects our everyday thoughts, emotions, feelings, actions and reactions, and how we can adjust this to help us achieve our goals! Pretty exciting stuff! In a nutshell THINGS I LOVE: My husband Corey, my kids Tate and Carter My family and my chosen family Food in general but more so anything Mexican, Japanese and burgers Cooking Footy Go the Dogs!! Travel Being at the beach or camping in the country around a fire Old school RnB and Florence and the Machine Change - I love that we ALL have the ability to change something if it's not working for us
09.01.2022 HANDS UP IF YOU'RE A PERFECTIONIST?! It's exhausting hey!? And it is literally a recipe for procrastination and burnout. After a lifetime of moving the bar BEFORE I actually reach it... I can now HAPPILY say that I'm a recovering perfectionist and beginning to learn that... ... Progress Is Better Than Perfect! Have you ever put something off for fear that you wouldn't do it just as perfectly as your mind wants you to? My gosh, I have! Housework, uni work, work work, phone call to clients. But you know what, at the end of the day NO ONE IS PERFECT!!! And striving for something that is unattainable can soul destroying, and down right exhausting! How can you be kind to yourself this week and give yourself and your mind a break from those unrelenting standards you place on yourself?
07.01.2022 I "stumbled" across @tracey__spencer podcast yesterday. Definitely some divine timing going on here. It's not that I havent heard the messages she has before from people who have been guiding me over the past 2 years but today I think I was READY to really hear it. I'm sure @sandra_madafferi.mentoring... And @katrina_hillard are banging their heads reading this Thank you @tracey__spencer for being real, sharing your experience, and giving me the permission to be me and do it my way. I'm ready to share my passion. I'm ready to live my lightwork. I'm ready to serve my tribe. I can't wait to see my dreams come to life and watch the ripple effect. Time to START!!!!

05.01.2022 Welcome to summer and 2021! Welcome to the journey... will you join me?! It has taken a few weeks to get back into this year. After being locked down for months I have a new appreciation for our freedom and ability to head to the lake or the beach at our leisure! ... I am so grateful to have spent some much needed family time at the lake and the beach this summer, I could not even imagine a year without it! This proverb really spoke to me today on a few levels, First- I love summer! Second- I love love. The second I find really hard though, to show myself love. It's part of being a perfectionist, and not the good part. This year I am pledging to be kinder to myself, to allow myself to SIT with the feelings I have and to PUSH PAST the negative self talk. We set the standard for ourselves on what we believe the universe will show/offer us. And if we show kindness and love to ourselves, it can only be up from here! 05.01.2022 HELP!!! I'm late... Last month I pledged to walk 120,000 steps for the month of October to raise awareness and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes JDRF. My motivation is so my boys (and their kids and their kids) don't have to live with the possibility of developing Type 1 Diabetes now that the gene is in our family. ... Today I started counting - I'm 12 days late i know but... I started and went for my first planned walk. Pre-iso I would have easily hit 7-8k without doing any extra activity! Working from home 2 things have happened that have affected my activity levels: 1. Im not leaving the house and walking up and down clinic/hospital hallways 2. My motivation is TERRIBLE! which effects my mental health, which effects my motivation to exercise, which effects my mental health and so the cycle continues. So... Facebook friends, here is where I'm asking for your help... im going to post my running tally of steps at the beginning of each day from the day before. If you don't see it, or i havent posted it, give me a nudge and tell me to get going!! I need this for my own health to help me get my mental health, my emotional health and my physical health (I know ill see the difference in my own diabetes) AND TO HELP FIND A CURE FOR TYPE 1 DIABETES AND RAISE AWARENESS!!!!!!
