16.01.2022 Sally had the opportunity to visit Landmarks independent ryegrass trial site at Shepparton yesterday. This site gives Landmark the opportunity to evaluate all commercial ryegrass varieties on the market and select ones that perform well under local conditions. All lines are replicated and measured under strict protocol to ensure varietal differences are measured and quantified- the only true way to evaluate ryegrass performance.... It was an opportune time to visit the site as the differences in heading dates were on full display across the different varieties- keep your eye on Rambo in 2020- late heading and good value for money across the lines that were seen

16.01.2022 Red legged earth mites have just started hatching and now is the time to be checking resows for any damage. RLEM eggs hatch in autumn following exposure to cooler temperatures and rainfall and remain active until around Nov. RLEM suck the SAP from the leaves of the plant causing the plant to yellow and loose vigour. The most damage is in delicate crop seedlings and emerging pasture plants.

While most resown paddocks are now a nice shade of green from a distance, it’s well worth checking them up close. Keys things to inspect are: - Insect damage from lucerne flea, black beetle and just seeing some red legged earth mite hatching - Broadleaf weeds which can smother new seedlings ... - Ensuring there’s adequate nutrients for these new plants to get to there first grazing as soon as possible Contact your AgGrow agronomist for any further queries on your resows See more

07.01.2022 Did a demonstration of Basis Biochemistry on DAP in this sorghum crop. Got best results in areas with high organic matter. We just made a makeshift cardboard divider in the fert box untreated one side and treated the other and farmer went for it. Looking for demonstration paddocks this autumn sowing season with Ryegrass. Also looking for High background P paddocks to coat Basis on a 120 day release N product.
