25.01.2022 Thanks Anita, It's lovely to get such positive feedback

21.01.2022 It takes only a second, but can make someone's day

21.01.2022 A worthwhile initiative for the community... get together and get sewing , while at the same time boosting your mental and emotional health by connecting with like-minded people and doing something positive to help the environment.

20.01.2022 The importance of good sleep habits can't be overrated

16.01.2022 Are you over this relentless wet weather we have been experiencing? Prolonged rain has more consequences than just flooding, empty shelves in the fruit & vege section of the supermarket and affecting people’s ability to get to work and school! There is evidence that flooding and temperature changes lead to an increase in respiratory tract infections, particularly in children, the elderly and those with low or compromised immunity.... For this reason, it is important to support your body’s immune system to give it the tools it needs to fight infections before they take hold, or reduce the duration and intensity of respiratory tract infections. Immune boosting foods include those high in vitamins A, B6, C and E, zinc and selenium. Call or message me to make an appointment for nutritional advice on how to include more of these foods in your daily diet, as well as other strategies you can use to boost your immunity and reduce your risk of succumbing to these infections.

15.01.2022 Mindfulness is such an important aspect of mental health and wellbeing which applies to everyone. It's wonderful to see indigenous women embracing this issue and working to make it relevant to their people. This is something that could be of value to all of us.

12.01.2022 This makes for interesting reading in relation to the current discussion about natural and complementary health care and preventative medicine vs modern medicine and pharmaceutical medications.

10.01.2022 Hi! Just a quick reminder about the promotion I am currently running, now in its third week...only one week to go. Do you have any health concerns, or maybe just want to tweak your diet a little to feel healthier and wake up with more energy to get through your day? The free consultation for next week has been filled, but I am still looking for that person to offer the fourth and final one to. Take a moment to message me through this page with a few short words about why you ...would like a consultation, and you may be the lucky recipient of a complementary consultation worth $110. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting with you to help you on your path to better health and vitality.

05.01.2022 So when I'm not in my clinic helping people on their health journey and educating them about nutrition this is one of the ways I spend my time...at puppy school aka Whitsunday Dog Obedience classes with my 7 month old Labrador Arlo. They tell me each week he's progressing, but sometimes I wonder

02.01.2022 IMMUNITY They say winter is coming! Winter in tropical North Queenslandnot really a thing, more just a fleeting few weeks where you have to put on a jacket and jeans at night! There is talk, as always, about the need for flu vaccination to protect against the flu virus. Whether or not you choose to vaccinate against the flu , you can help your body fight off possible infections and give yourself a bit of an immune boost by implementing some simple dietary adjustment...s. Vitamins A, C, E, zinc, selenium are the micronutrients required by our body for healthy immunity. They can all be found in foods that can be easily incorporated into your daily diet providing immune support as well as a range of other health benefits that come with eating each of these foods. Vitamin A cod liver oil, eggs, leafy green vegetables, sweet potato & carrots, orange & yellow vegetables, mango, rockmelon, tomato juice Vitamin C oranges, lemons, kiwi fruit, strawberries, pawpaw, kale, broccoli, brussels sprouts, parsley, yellow capsicum, chilli peppers, rose hips Vitamin E vegetable oils (wheat germ, sunflower, safflower, corn, soybean), nuts (almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts), seeds (sunflower), green leafy vegetables (spinach, broccoli), fortified breakfast cereals, fruit juices margarine & spreads Zinc meat, shellfish (oysters), legumes (chick peas, lentils, beans), seeds (hemp, pumpkin, sesame), nuts (pine nuts, cashews, almonds, peanuts), dairy (cheese & milk), eggs, dark chocolate (70-85% cocoa) Selenium brazil nuts, fish (yellowfin tuna, sardines, oysters, clams, salmon, crab), meat (ham, pork, beef, chicken, turkey), cottage cheese, eggs, brown rice, sunflower seeds, mushrooms, spinach There are other macro- and micro-nutrients too - for instance garlic, spices (turmeric, ginger, cinnamon), antioxidants (blueberries, green tea), and omega-3 fatty acids that will assist in keeping you healthy, not just in the ‘flu season’, but all year round. If your daily diet provides variety, balance and moderation across all the foods groups, all the time, then your body should be receiving the nutrition it needs to maintain good health and vitality. Add in a brisk walk through nature or along the beach for some winter sunshine (vitamin D) and grounding, and you will give your immunity an even bigger kick!! See more

01.01.2022 We never take the time to pause and really see, the beauty of everyday things in our life. This morning I was out walking with one of my closest friends, which in itself is a beautiful thing, when I looked up and saw through a gap in the trees, half a rainbow whose arc matched exactly the curve of the hillside it lay beside. I called my friend back and pointed it out to her, realising the importance of not just noticing the beauty of something, but to actually pause for a m...oment and appreciate it. We continued walking along the track through the Brandy Creek rainforest, chatting as we do, and again looking up I noticed another thing of beauty large droplets of rain falling from the branches of a tree, reflecting the morning light and appearing as gems standing out against the dark background of the rainforest. Once again, I paused to marvel at this beautiful picture, as we commented on how the average person wouldn’t be able to capture this in a photograph, but we were lucky enough to be walking towards it and able to imprint the picture in our mind to revisit any time we wish. Taking the time to pause and remember things such as these, allows us to look back on them during stressful times, and bring balance into our day. They remind us that there is beauty everywhere in life, if we just take the time to look up and around us, instead of looking down all the time. So next time you’re out and about, look up, really see what is around you and find the beauty in your day See more
