18.01.2022 Blue Swimmer Crab on Crunchy Sourdough ..... smothered in garlic butter First time catching and cooking these critters, I was super excited to cook with them... (thank you google). I must admit it was a little overwhelming, but came through with the goods in this tasty little entree. ... Love the local fishermen super keen to help us out and share all their knowledge! 11.01.2022 Chicken burger, brioche bun and chips I kid you not... I managed to get this past my kids. The plan was to have oven baked wedges... The reality ... mum needed some chill time ... Sometimes we get caught up in the status quo when really it’s a nice surprise to try something different. It was a win/win for me. More veg intake and I didn’t have to spend more time making. What’s your mash up meal? I’d love to hear it !!

06.01.2022 Turkey Burgers I literally use just the mince (Inghams Turkey Mince), divide into 4 burgers then grill. It always turns out tender and a good alternative to beef mince, as it has less fat. Sooo simple! A comparison of 100grams of lean beef mince gives 170kcal, 22g protein and 8.2g fat... 06.01.2022 Wrapping up the year with the last presentation. I couldn’t think of a better way to finish off than speaking all about healthy eating for young athletes. We also looked at sports drinks vs soft drinks and water for hydration and made our own DIY sports drink Surprisingly over 40% of young males over 12 are consuming soft drinks daily contributing to a higher risk of chronic disease and dental issues and excess energy intake. It’s time to rethink those sugary drinks and choose water, milk or juice (sometimes) as everyday options, especially for those at risk groups. Let’s get our Sporting groups. Schools and community groups on board to secure the health of our children and future!

04.01.2022 Swapped out my usual ‘eggs on toast’ for a protein pancake this morning. It’s just as satisfying as a couple of eggs and a good alternative if your wanting something sweet. Serves one 1 egg 1 banana - mashed ... 1 scoop (30g) protein powder (I use Coles whey protein powder or happy whey in vanilla) Mash the banana, mix in the egg and add the protein powder. Cook over a medium heat with a dash of butter or oil until golden, then flip and enjoy. Serve with any fruit or topping you enjoy! See more

02.01.2022 Baking up a storm with these mini pizzas DIY Pizza Dough - 1 cup Greek yoghurt - 2 cups self raising flour ... Toppings - bacon or ham chopped - grated cheese - tomato sauce or pasta sauce (reduced salt and sugar if you can) - optional grated zucchini 1. Mix together the top two ingredients to make a dough, roll out and cut into shapes, we went with stars (You could just make balls and roll flat into little pizza shapes) 2. Place shapes onto a lined tray and top with sauce, grated zucchini, bacon or ham and cheese 3. Cook for approx 20 mins or until golden brown I managed to whip these away and freeze these guys ready for quick mid-week lunches (luckily I had leftover dough to make a small pizza to eat now) Super simple and good one for those little veg detectives
