25.01.2022 Welcome to Nutrition to Thrive. Here's a quick introduction about myself and my practice. I'm Isabel, a dietitian, and I've just started my new private practice 'Nutrition to Thrive.' I'm based in Beaumaris where I do individual nutrition consultations. I'm passionate about using a non-diet approach which means, as the name suggests, I don't recommend any kind of dieting. Instead I promote a healthy relationship with food and will try to reduce any anxiety or guilt you have around eating certain types of foods. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in contact with me: [email protected] www.nutritionthrive.com.au

25.01.2022 Yes yes yes! Thank you @carly_._taylor this is amazing. It's such a common misconception that the non-diet approach means that you don't care about your health but it's not at all. It's just looking at health more broadly rather than how much you weigh

25.01.2022 This is exactly what the non-diet approach is about. I'm not against weight loss, I just don't think it's helpful (and can actually be harmful) when we focus on it instead of healthy behaviours

24.01.2022 An interesting read on how to manage your children's lollies from Halloween

24.01.2022 If you're a fitness professional in Melbourne you should definitely check this event out. It's run by two amazing PTs; Jodie and Shelley who both work in a weight-neutral, body positive way!

22.01.2022 What an amazing video! We know that the way we talk about our own bodies can affect the body image of children around us. Healthy Tasmania show some easy ways to be aware of this

21.01.2022 Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and look after yourselves. I’ll be back on January 14th. Looking forward to another great year

20.01.2022 Weight Watchers has been in the media quite a bit lately. Here's an interesting article by Rebecca Scritchfield. What are you thoughts?

19.01.2022 This is a must read blog post from Marci Evans about body image. My favourite line is... "It’s normal to have moments where you don’t feel so grand about yourself. Given our culture and the constant expectation for perfection, it’s gonna’ happen! BUT, when your physical appearance isn’t the most important thing in your life, it’s not THAT big of a deal to have those moments."

17.01.2022 Despite what our culture might suggest, our bodies are supposed to come in different shapes and sizes and that's ok. Thank you @chr1styharrison @mynameisjessamyn

17.01.2022 This Melbourne weather has been amazing! Definitely a good day for these berries

13.01.2022 Intuitive and mindful eating is important to help you trust your body's cues and make you feel more in control of your health. Thank you @ericaleonnutrition for putting it so perfectly

13.01.2022 Love this explanation from Zoe about looking at food in different situations. Also a good reminder to not judge other peoples food choices

10.01.2022 Enjoying some leftover Christmas pudding while trying to ignore the summer/new year diet messages

09.01.2022 I absolutely love this quote. It's so easy to bring yourself down by comparing yourself to others but don't forget you're one of a kind. This week try to concentrate on yourself

09.01.2022 A Monday morning reminder for you. It's great to have goals and aim for improvement but it's just as important to take a step back sometimes, give yourself a break and say I am enough

09.01.2022 This is amazing! Food is meant to be enjoyed. It makes me so sad to see people beating themselves up and feeling guilty for eating certain foods. Thanks @immaeatthat for this beautiful reminder

07.01.2022 If you want to learn more about mindful eating definitely check this program out! Nina is an amazing dietitian who also uses the non-diet approach

06.01.2022 Just a little midweek reminder for you : @storyofthemind.com.au

06.01.2022 Love discovering new magazines that don't try to make me hate myself @womankindmag

06.01.2022 My nieces beautiful Baptism cake from today. This is a perfect example of where cake is socially and culturally appropriate to eat and shouldn't be thought of as a "bad" or "naughty" food

06.01.2022 New recipe blog is up! www.nutritionthrive.com.au/chicken-mango-salad-recipe/

06.01.2022 If you're looking for something to help with family mealtimes and feeding your children then check this out..

04.01.2022 My family and friends get pretty sick of my saying "there's no such thing as good food and bad food" and this is exactly why I say it. When we think of foods as being good or bad we transfer that morality onto ourselves which is a bit ridiculous when you think about it. Eating a piece of cake doesn't make you a bad human being, nor does eating kale make you any better @wahewellness

02.01.2022 This is such a beautiful book! I'm only a few chapters through but loving it already. Self compassion and body kindness is something I talk about with my clients all the time. When we're kind to ourselves we often look after ourselves a bit better

02.01.2022 My first blog post is up. If you want to know a bit more about how I work using a non-diet approach then have a read https://www.nutritionthrive.com.au/what-is-the-non-diet-ap/

02.01.2022 Happy international no diet day. Today is about reminding ourselves that not only do diets not work, but they can also cause harm. Its about remembering to treat ourselves with compassion and kindness. It’s about acknowledging what our bodies need rather than putting it through deprivation and restriction. It’s about remembering that there is an alternative to dieting and a non-diet Dietitian can help you with this

02.01.2022 New blog post up on the website about my self-care practices and what self care is! https://www.nutritionthrive.com.au/self-care-box/

02.01.2022 Lunches sorted for the week- my favourite pumpkin and spinach frittata. This is perfect for me cause I know it's going to fill me up and satisfy me

01.01.2022 Classic spag bol for dinner with lots of cheese on top I always feel satisfied after this meal which I believe is just as important as how nutritious the meal is

01.01.2022 Christmas baking!
