25.01.2022 A lot of the time I choose to eat food that nourishes me and keeps my energy levels going over the day. And sometimes I eat food just for the pleasure and joy it brings me. Both are ok.... It doesn’t need to be one or the other. You can make choices to eat food that has no other purpose other than it bringing you pleasure. To me that is part of what health is. 24.01.2022 When was the last time you looked up at night and really took in the moon and stars? Lately I’ve been going to the back deck and stare up at the night sky. Tonight I could hear the surf in the distance too. ... It is so peaceful and makes me feel so alive. This pic was taken in the #atacamadesert in #chile I almost couldn’t be bothered staying up late and getting out in the cold to visit this observatory. I’m so grateful I did. It changed my entire perspective. 23.01.2022 You know that gut feeling? When I was 24 I had a gut feeling to spend 2 months on a trip camping in Africa. For most of the trip a toilet stop meant peeing behind a bush.... The entire trip was so far out of my comfort zone. But the trip changed me. I felt more at home in Africa than I ever had in my life. It’s the only trip that I cried having to leave. I realised possessions don’t bring me joy. Real joy for me is experienced in adventure, human connection & being totally immersed in nature. I had another gut feeling recently that I should move to #lennoxhead It just felt right so I rolled with it, instead of analysing and trying to make sense of it. I am now lucky to have the same experience of coming home. Beautiful friends - we ALL have this gut instinct, that is there to guide us. 21.01.2022 I’m in such a weird place in my life. I feel so deeply fulfilled, aligned with my purpose, lit up by doing the things that bring me joy. Then I look in the mirror and also see the biggest body I have personally been in. ... I wonder how these things can co exist.. I’m told (by society and lack of compliments) that I should not love this current body I’m in because it’s ‘too big’. The truth is I’ve found such a deeper joy beyond what my physical body LOOKS like. I exercise all the time and nourish my body with foods that make me feel good. > And am working through my own desire to comfort eat when difficult feelings come up. I am so incredibly grateful for my healthy body - how it allows me to move with no pain. The incredible things it does for me every single day that I don’t even think about. A lot of people don’t have this. When the negative thoughts come in I remind myself why I am grateful for this body. Again and again. Redefine your OWN version of health. 20.01.2022 I look back with so much love and compassion at the 16 year old me who never felt pretty or skinny enough for any guy. The 27 year old me who had an ex boyfriend ask if I was going to lose weight because it was an issue for him. My first thought was - he is right I’m disgusting. The 30 year old me who tolerated an emotionally abusive relationship. She had not learned to love herself and trust herself that this behaviour was not ok.... The current me who is still being given opportunities to step up and love myself when my body may be not be considered acceptable to society’s standards. 19.01.2022 I had a client devastated and in tears because she is at her heaviest weight. She believes she’s only loveable when she’s skinny. > When she’s lost weight in the past it’s been through severe restriction (with a history of an eating disorder this is super dangerous). ... I could relate so deeply to her pain. Years ago I had an ex ask me if I was going to lose the weight I’d said I wanted to lose cuz he thought I was too big. Over the last few months I’ve been going into some mega discomfort and have been challenging myself to receive love as I am now. I have been reteaching myself that ALL parts of me are worthy and deserving of the most beautiful love I could imagine. I know at my core this is what is true. 17.01.2022 Mother Nature is our medicine This morning I sat on the beach drinking coffee with beautiful @_gabriela_negrao_ We saw dolphins riding the waves.... Then I watched the sunset at #bouldersbeach I was barefoot and freezing. But I couldn’t bring myself to leave cuz I was so in awe of how absolutely magical and peaceful it was. 12.01.2022 It’s a new year and you want to lose weight. Gyms are pushing 8 week challenges. Your friends tell you how good intermittent fasting is for weight loss. ... You hate your body and the weight you’ve gained. There is soooo much temptation to try a diet to lose weight. I feel it too. When the temptation is there I invite you to ask yourself ‘is this something I could do for the rest of my life?’ If the answer is no, you’ll lose weight at the start. But what we don’t hear is 66% of people end up at even higher weight after a weight loss attempt. It’s sadly true. Diets CAUSE weight gain. Where does this leave you if the answer isn’t a diet!?!? 11.01.2022 Why do we have this obsessive desire to be thin? Who’s box are we even ticking when we believe we have to lose weight to be beautiful? Is this belief really even our own, or just a message we got thousands of times until we believed it to be true.. ... Our world makes us believe with relentless messages that beauty = thin. When you’re in the ‘healthy weight range’ or when people start telling you you look great! ... Why do we think our head knows what weight is best for our body? 08.01.2022 What is health to you? We are taught that health is being skinny so we must do whatever we can to achieve weight loss. I call bullshit. ... Health to me is how I talk to my body. It’s about physically feeling good and not experiencing pain. It’s about mentally and emotionally feeling good. Being connected spiritually. We will teach you how you can put an end to food restriction and instead eat to THRIVE!... 07.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago out of nowhere I started to feel so down. Then I had an appointment with a 90+ year old client. She absolutely radiated J O Y. She was so funny and I realised I’d been forgetting to laugh. Laughter brings me so much joy. ... My friendships are different but 1 things they all have in common is lots of laughter. 06.01.2022 Lake Ainsworth is such a peaceful, healing and feminine place. Aboriginal women used to come to the lake to give birth in it. I find it so beautiful and moving how aboriginal people are so connected to the land, nature and its subtle changes, their ancestors and story telling.... 03.01.2022 I used to call myself a nutrition expert. I believed having 2 degrees meant people would come to me, I'd give my expertise and they'd achieve their goals - no problem! But the reality is, the more I learn, the more I realise I DON'T know. The science and my own insights are constantly evolving. Something else I've come to embrace is that YOU are your own expert. ... Always. You have lived your entire life in your body and YOU are the only expert on you. Through all the coaches and support I've had - the most help is when I'm asked questions that allow me to look deeper into WHY I do the things I do, or WHAT is blocking me from getting to where I want. No one person you go to can ever tell you the perfect foods and what time you should eat and what foods you should avoid. The solution is never in a generic meal plan or someone just telling you want to do from a place of authority. It is the same with tapping/EFT too. The client guides the entire process. The whole point is to guide them to unlock their own blocks. Getting support is amazing and let's be honest, we all need it sometimes. And open their mind to loving themselves on a deeper level, which is then reflected by nourishing their body in a kinder way. ... So here I am doing the tough stuff too.
