12.01.2022 5 Minutes with our Territory Manager Craig Paget What’s your name and what Territory do you look after? Craig Paget, Greater Newcastle & Hunter, Eastern & Northern Sydney.... When did you start with Nuturf? August 2012. What was your job before you worked at Nuturf? Golf Course Superintendent, Pacific Dunes Golf Club, NSW. How did you get into the turf game? Mainly through a passion for sport, in particular golf and cricket. What’s the best part about your job? I feel quite fortunate to do what I do for a living so that’s difficult to answer. But if I have to narrow it down somewhat, I would say that being in and around sport constantly, being able to work across all sectors of the industry, the problem solving that goes with the job and the relationships I have formed with Turf Managers over time are the things I enjoy most about the job. What are some of the biggest challenges that your customers face? I think in general managing the expectations of key stakeholders within facilities and organisations is the most challenging issue for Turf Managers. It’s an issue that can be complex and transcends all sectors of the industry. Scrutiny around water usage and the perception of how and when it’s used has been a genuine issue in my territory in recent years. If you could manage any famous piece of turf, which one would it be and why? I’m not sure I’d handle the climate, but Wimbledon would be right up there. I’m quite fastidious at times, so the cleanliness of the hard edged finishes and purity of the turf really appeal to me. I would also love a crack at managing a wall to wall cool season golf course, in an environment conducive to doing it! What’s your favourite turf-related activity? Horse racing, Rugby League, Cricket, Golf. Who is your favourite athlete? (Must be a turf-related sport!) Not always on turf, but Roger Federer. If you could give one piece of advice it would be... From a Turf Managers perspective, always be organised and structured in your approach. Try not to be married to the job. What’s your favourite Nuturf product and why? I have a few, but FoliMAX KelmMAX & Phosphite + deliver such good results as a combination in terms of generating root mass and Stamina Express because it just works so well every single time. Who’s your favourite footy team? I’m a long suffering Knights supporter What’s your go to snack when you are on the road? Probably depends which Craig is about If I’m behaving it’s bananas and protein snacks. If not, it’s pies If you could meet anyone in the world it would be... Would love a game with Tiger, Phil & Jack. Outside of that, Angus Young. What's your favourite food? As long as it’s not from the ocean I’m happy.
