25.01.2022 Time has past quickly since our last update and so has the work on our various job sites. Northmead is near completion with Kitchen installed and detailed joinery being completed by the NuVision team. After plasterboard was installed we set about installing the wainscotting to the walls. Wainscotting is decorative paneling usually on the lower section of the wall and can be pre made off site by external companies however NuVision opted to custom fit the decorative panels to best suit the new build. Working closely with the clients design we are very happy with the results.

24.01.2022 With our Northmead job coming to a finish one of the last things we needed to do was some awnings over the windows to reduce the effect of the harsh western sun. With the owner unable to find a generic pre built type, Ryan and Bryce built on site custom timber work and metal roofing awnings to meet the requirements. It’s only a small detail in the big scheme of the job but highlights the team’s ability to adapt to most situations.

22.01.2022 With lock up achieved at Northmead all the electrical pre wire and plumbing rough in can be completed. A wood fire place has been installed and plasterboard has also been installed The feature of the plasterboard is a large ornate cornice. It is custom made and takes great skill and patience to install. As the ceiling are 4.2 metres in height the statement cornice fits in perfectly with the volume of the room.

22.01.2022 After the concrete footings cured the brick base was constructed at our Castle Hill job. We then installed the bearers, joist and flooring after which Ryan , Bryce and Luke started cutting and erecting the frame.

22.01.2022 Trash talking. The building industry unfortunately generates a lot of waste material. Extensions and renovations more so than new builds due to the demolition component however at NuVision we strive to re-use or recycle as much material as possible. Bricks and concrete are placed into specific bins to be sent off to crushing plants to turn into drainage aggregate, paper and cardboard taken to waste recycling facilities and scrap metal taken to metal recyclers.... Wherever possible we will recycle and ensure we carefully estimate material to ensure minimal waste. This helps to minimise cost to the clients and reduce the carbon footprint of NuVision Happy recycling

21.01.2022 Last update from Lane Cove we had the framing complete. Since then lots has happened. Wall sheeting has been installed, waterproofing complete and the tiling has been completed. They owners selected a porcelain tile laid in a herringbone pattern throughout the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms. It was a lot of work for the tilers but the finished product looks brilliant. Next update will show tiling complete, bathroom fit out and kitchen cupboards installed.

20.01.2022 With the frame complete , the roof on and scaffolding erected at our Baulkham Hills job it was time for the external cladding to be installed. The chosen cladding is an aerated cement panel 75 mm thick that is installed onto the timber frame then coated in an acrylic render and painted. It is light weight compared to traditional brick and offers the rendered look for those that prefer that over the weatherboard style. It offers great acoustic and thermal properties at a reasonable cost. Installing the rendered panel bring us to lock up and now readies us for the next stage of internal lining, fixings and ceramic tiling.

18.01.2022 NuVision Building is currently involved in an extensive internal renovation for a former client at Lane Cove. 5 years ago we did a first floor renovation at the same house. Now we are renovating the kitchen, laundry, bathroom, ensuite and family room. The client has engaged the services of a designer to help guide us through the project and bring in some fresh, modern ideas. Demolition is the first step before we can start to re build and bring the vision to life.

17.01.2022 Last year we wrapped up the job at Baulkham Hills which we believe finished up really well. After painting was finished, carpet was installed and the NuVision team set about cleaning up the job for handover . As usual the gentlemen went above and beyond helping the owners install wall mounted TV’s and cabinets.... We sincerely hope the owners will enjoy their new space. Once again thanks Ryan and Bryce for doing a great job.

17.01.2022 Our Castle Hill job is pretty much wrapped up. The feature of the build is the alfresco area. A hardwood deck covered with a roofing product called SolarSpan manufactured by Bondor. It is a roof panel that combines the roof, ceiling and insulation in one. Roof and ceiling are pre-finished with Colorbond steel. The panels are self-spanning and high in thermal efficiency. Panel thickness varies from 50 mm to 200 mm depending on the span required and the amount of thermal rating required. The panels are 1 metre wide and can be made up to 24 metres in length. Ceiling fans and downlights can be integrated into the panels to complete the whole alfresco experience We certainly hope the family enjoys this area for many years to come.

16.01.2022 We'd like to advise that the NuVision Building office will be closed from Friday 20th December and will reopen on Tuesday 28th January. Thank you for your support throughout the year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Richard and the NuVision Building team.

16.01.2022 NuVision is lucky to be working on an acreage property at Glenorie. With plenty of space around us we have the luxury of constructing a high end finish, multi-functional storage and office facility which will enable us to better meet the expectations and needs of the client. Also known as a site shed

15.01.2022 Whilst the country has been coming to terms with a pandemic NuVision Building has been lucky enough to be able to keep working. It’s been some time since our last update and things have been progressing well on our two projects at Lane Cove and Castle Hill. As you can see earthworks were completed thanks to Ryan from Hills Excavations and then we poured the footings. You can see here Bryce instructing our new first year apprentice, Luke, how to screed the concrete. Brickwork and framing to follow

11.01.2022 A recent walk to the dog park with Baily highlighted the current state of affairs. Human social distancing has also impacted our little mate. Not one friend to play with on this day.

10.01.2022 Whilst our Lane Cove job is well underway NuVision has started a new project in Castle Hill. This one involves the demolition of the existing covered paved area and the addition of a rumpus room and alfresco area. It is a tight site with limited access so we will need to use some specialised equipment to complete the excavation works and remove the excess soil. But as in ALMOST all cases we have a plan.

10.01.2022 The project at Lanecove is also complete. Bathrooms, Kitchen and family room look amazing with some great work by our joiner Stephen Moore from Stephen Moore Cabinetry. The owner worked closely with an interior designer who developed the design for the kitchen and built in furniture as well as helped with product selection. Having Louise on board from Swan Studio was most beneficial. Also beneficial is Ryan in the new kitchen. Washing up for the client Ryan? NuVision does go that extra step to ensure customer satisfaction. I must also add it was an absolute pleasure working with the clients. We sincerely hope they enjoy the renovations.

09.01.2022 Whilst Northmead continued so did progress at our first floor addition in Baulkham Hills. After steel beams and floor joist were installed we continued on with framing and pitching the roof. All the framing was hand cut on site as was the roof frame. We opted to pitch the roof in a conventional manner as opposed to installing pre fabricated roof trusses.... There are advantages and disadvantages with both methods and it really depends on the project which method is most suitable but we like the idea of a bit of old fashioned carpentry. Ryan and Bryce are very proficient at producing hand cut frames and pitched roofs. Well done gents and thanks.

08.01.2022 Whilst Northmead was being lined with gyprock and external painting underway NuVision Building started a new project in Baulkham Hills. It is a first floor addition to a 3 bedroom brick veneer home built in the early 1970’s. Our brief is to build a new master bedroom with ensuite, walk in robe and a lounge room.... We have demolished the required amount of existing roof , installed structural beams and posts to the lower level and installed the steel beams to the new first floor to support the new floor joists and first floor structure generally. It is quite a sloping block so a 20 tonne city crane was employed to lift and place the structural steel.

06.01.2022 Castle Cove retaining wall was completed a few weeks ago. It was a good opportunity for Ryan and Bryce to start to tutor Luke on the safe use of hand tools and power tools as well as an introduction to the physicality of the building industry. A full time apprenticeship in the building industry can be challenging and is very different to school.... Luke informs us he is sleeping very well.

05.01.2022 NuVision Building was recently engaged to investigate possible termite ingress to a newly purchased 1980’s home that backed onto creek and some bush land. We found evidence of termite workings in the subfloor area and then tracked them into a bedroom wall which housed the nest. The termites had been treated by the previous owner but they obviously did not maintain regular inspections which is critical at the best of times but more so in an area close to bushland.... If you have not had a pest inspection for some time (12 month intervals is ideal) I urge you to do so as the alternative may be very costly.

04.01.2022 Happy New Year one and all. It’s been some time since we last posted an update. This reflects the always busy end to the working year and then our Christmas break then into the busy start to the new working year. We will post some photos of our completed work at Baulkham Hills and Northmead in due course but thought we would share a couple of wildlife photos from last year. Whilst working at Baulkham Hills just before Christmas as drought took hold and bushfires raged we we...re lucky enough to have a couple of quintessential Aussie visitors seeking a bit of refuge fly and crawl in to the job site. They were most welcome. Last photo is Richard and Baily gearing up for Christmas. Hope everyone has a great 2020. See more

02.01.2022 NuVision building has taken on a few smaller jobs to kick off 2020 as we wait for our bigger projects to get started as the powers that be dot the i’s and cross the t’s. We have been engaged to construct a retaining wall at Castle Cove for our old friend Ryan Hook (former team member). It is a straight forward steel post and sleeper wall however the piers for the posts need to core drilled into sandstone. Bryce can be seen here (making it look easy) using a hydraulic drill wi...th a 300 mm diameter corehole cutter. Once holes were complete and posts braced in place we poured concrete into the holes. On the wheel barrow is the new addition to our team, Luke. Luke completed year twelve last year and he was the successful applicant for the apprentice carpenter position. We welcome Luke and hope this is the start of a successful career in the building industry. Although on the barrow this week Luke, there will be thousands of nails to bang in over the coming years. Everyone loves the nail gun! See more

02.01.2022 NuVision was called out recently to a house that experienced leaking through the ceiling during the last latest storms that swept through the east coast. The leaking was caused by essentially a lack of maintenance and inspections of the roof area. Lead flashing had deteriorated allowing water ingress not just recently but over a period of time that has been slowly deteriorating the framing timber it should have been protecting. Lack of regular painting had also lead to the ro...tting of exterior timber. All this can be avoided by regular house maintenance just as you would your car. Pest inspections annually, gutters cleaned regularly, painting every 7 years or when cracking, flaking appears, roof inspections every couple of years. When the pest control company is in your roof space treating for pests ask them to also keep an eye out for any tell take signs of roof leaks. Just remember water wrecks buildings be it rain water , rising damp, internal pipes leaking, external stormwater drainage leaking or steam. Water will rust, rot and erode. A small investment regularly will avoid costly repairs in the future. See more
