19.01.2022 In a past #OTD post we profiled the first automobile manufactured on an assembly line by the Ford Motor Company, the Model T. Nineteen years, and 15 million cars later, On this Day in Tech History, 27 May, 1927, Ford shut down production to begin the planning of a new car era. The last model T. was rolled off the assembly line a day prior. The assembly line was refitted to make way for a new Ford automobile, the yet to be named Model A. Twice the horsepower of the Model T, ...the Model A is remembered as the most rugged and dependable cars ever produced in America. Bonus: - Henry Ford spent over 2 million USD promoting the Model A over a 5 day period prior to it's official unveiling on 2 December 1927. 15.01.2022 On this day in tech history, 03 June 1983, a high school student, using a IMSAI 8080 computer, unknowingly hacked into a NORAD supercomputer and played a game of "Global Thermonuclear War" with it. The computer couldn’t tell the difference between reality and simulation and set off to start WWIII. Lucky for us all, it was only the blockbuster Hollywood film WarGames.
