07.02.2022 HOW TO FIND GAPS IN THE MARKET When you are wanting to identify a kick-ass business offering, you need to identify the benefits of said offering and the type of people who would need it. Next is to look at who else is out in your market offering similar products/services and identifying where you sit amongst them. ... As part of putting together your Competitor Analysis look for the gaps in the market and decide if any of your own products/services fill this gap. You're looking for a section of the market where you can stand alone and become the authority and a niche where you can shine. On top of this, it is also good to talk with your current customers/clients and ask the question "Is there anything in our industry that is not available or you would like to see offered". You may find there is something your business can provide to fill this gap. How wonderful would that be! Remember, when you are talking to your clients you are not asking them if there is anything YOU can do better, it's more about asking them what THEY would like to see and what could make their life easier that is not currently offered in your industry. Most businesses do not take the time to do this type of 'wish list' interview and miss out on a great opportunity to grow their business and to identify new product/service gaps they can fill. Remember, people buy on emotion and back it up with logic later, so you will be talking directly to the emotions of your customer whenever you put out a marketing message. The more you know and understand... their inner workings and what makes them tick, the more you will be successful in creating a message that converts. The main questions to ask involve looking into the 'goals & core values' for your ideal client: Question 1: What do they want to achieve in life? Yet, that goal of freedom the primary reason we have our own business is never realised. We are constantly on the verge of making it, but few of us ever do. We are stuck. Simply surviving. Which begs the question Why? Which then begs the next question, How do we fix it? ... The biggest challenge business owners face is knowing what their biggest challenge is. 10.01.2022 HOW ARE YOU WIRED? When we talk about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs it works naturally for us because we are wired’’ into ourselves. If you walk down a dark alley, and you get a tingling sensation that something isn’t rightsomething isn’t. You should turn around quickly and get out of there. The reason is that our senses are wired directly into our body. Our cognitive inputs, such as seeing, hearing, smelling, etc. are wired into our nervous system. We are wired into ou...rselves and have strong gut sensations. But unlike our human bodies, we are not wired into our corporate entity. Our gut instinct does not work in the same way and, alone, is not a good indicator of the next action to take. Our gut causes us to react to the apparent issues we can see immediately in front of us. But with the Business Hierarchy of Needs we have a guiding system to direct our instincts. It forces us to look at the entirety of our organisation’s needs, and to collect the data to analyse what our corporate problem is. PERMANENT, HEALTHY GROWTH WITH FIX THIS NEXT. The Fix This Next approach addresses problems in order of their impact on the business and with the consistent focus of moving in one direction, toward the company’s vision. If you feel you and your leadership team are constantly putting out fires, you are in the Survival Trap. 07.12.2021 WHY SET 90 DAY GOALS IN YOUR BUSINESS? When you are in the start-up phase of your small business, it can be hard to get the stime to work ON the business, as opposed to IN the business. But to make sure you are not just constantly putting out fires and to ensure you are getting closer to your vision (the reason your created your business in the first place), goals are so very, very important. ... It doesn't have to be hard work and take hours, but it does take some looking inward and setting time aside every 90 days to assess where you currently sit in your business and what has been achieved and what may need to change to keep you on track. Otherwise, years may be by before you realise how far away you are from what you wanted to achieve when your started and it will take even more time to correct your direction. Who wants that? Every business needs at least a 3-5 year Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG), something that keeps you inpsired and makes you poo your pants a little bit. We all need to be challenged to achieve more. This goal then needs to be broken down into a 12 month goal and finally 4 x 90 day goals that we use to keep us accountable. 21.11.2021 OVERWHELM IS REAL! Are you consumed with your business 24/7? You are not alone! It's easy to fall into the trap of letting your small business take over your life. In addition to actually 'doing' the thing you get paid by your clients to do, there is also the neverending job of trying to find more of those exact clients to keep your business afloat....
