22.01.2022 Welcome to season 2020/2021 in the NWMCA. It has been a difficult time for everyone in dealing with the issues surrounding COVID-19. The Board is pleased that we are in a position to play cricket this year and we congratulate all clubs who have worked hard in preparing for the coming season.... We would like to remind everyone that we need to be vigilant in adherence to the COVID plans that each club has formulated and that have been provided to your local government as part of the Return To Cricket plan. All clubs and players MUST follow the Covid-19 match day rules - no exceptions. Make sure everybody is across the rules, as it will be a different game this year. (Copy of Covid rules attached - also refer to the front of scorebooks and our website under Rules and Policies) Although restrictions are easing, Clubs need to be aware that every captain will need to complete a report on the opposition clubs adherence to COVID rules and regulations. This is done by completing the Captains report in MyCricket. Even if no umpire is allocated to your game. There will be consequences for clubs failing to complete the captains report. Clubs must also be aware that non adherence to these rules and regulations may result in serious outcomes. Please keep in mind that Playing Cricket during the pandemic is a privilege not a right. We wish all clubs ever success for the coming 2020/2021 season On behalf of the Board Peter Bryceson President NWMCA

20.01.2022 NWMCA is looking for two or more teams to play in our Sunday One Day comp (Musgrove Shield) 35 overs per side starting 1.00pm Sunday - first game likely 15th November We currently have 10 teams, which makes fixturing a bit difficult in a shortened season... Perhaps move a team from Saturday comp to Sunday comp (especially if grounds are not available on Saturday, or if playing on your main ground makes managing your teams in the current environment a little easier) Players are able to double up - that is, play Saturday (in any grade) and then play Sunday Please advise as soon as you can Cheers Bill Maddern NWMCA Admin

18.01.2022 All NWMCA Clubs Update from CV today includes following - strongly recommend coaches or other club reps attend CV webinar Wednesday evening Unfortunately this clashes with our own club meeting - try and send somebody to both... Messages re NOT training must be heeded ________________________________________________________________________________ Coaching in a COVID-19 Environment Webinar This Wednesday from 7:30pm, Cricket Victoria will host a coaching webinar covering; The COVID-19 protocols that coaches need to adhere to Case studies and learnings from regional coaches who have been training to date Opportunities that the new protocols may provide from a coaching and skill acquisition standpoint You and/or your contacts can register here; http://cricvi.co/CoachWbnr As a reminder, Cricket Victoria are continually working closely with DHHS and SRV on making sure Cricket is complying with Government regulations. It is imperative that no club should be conducting organised training in any way in metropolitan Melbourne. Clubs must adhere to the Government regulations. Cricket is getting closer in metro Melbourne and we don’t want to jeopardise the start of the season in anyway. It was great to see a couple of country Associations getting cricket up and away, but as we have been saying regularly, Cricket in a Pandemic is a privilege not right _______________________________________________________________________________ Regards Bill Maddern NWMCA Admin

17.01.2022 All NWMCA Clubs In line with changes to wearing of masks, the NWMCA Covid rules have been updated - rule A.15 has now been amended - no requirement for umpires or players off field to wear masks Covid rules docs online versions have been updated... You may like to amend the rules in your scorebooks Scorers table As you probably understand, social distancing protocols remain in place It is strongly recommended that the AWAY team brings it's own score table and chair for their scorer. This enables scorers to socially distance, and helps to keep us all safe Relevant scorers tables can be purchased from Bunnings for $35 to $40 per table #staysafe #returntocricket

13.01.2022 This last cricket season Craig Dodson, a 42 year-old Melbourne based cricket tragic, set a world record by playing 11 games of cricket for 11 different clubs across Australia, while raising funds and awareness for mental health foundation Gotcha4Life. Craig travelled over 10,000 kms, pulling on the whites for a diverse mix of fantastic cricket clubs across Australia. He found himself trapped by a bushfire, travelling 1600 kilometres one day just for a Golden Duck and was give...n a hand by greats of the game like Greg Chappell and Darren Lehmann along the way. It was an epic sporting and lifetime adventure. Craig went through a battle with depression a decade ago and, thankfully, came out the other side. He committed himself to using the tour to raise funds for mental health as well as helping people along the way by sharing his story. In the end Craig’s adventure raised $10,000. Craig has now turned his adventure into a book (with all proceeds going to charity). If you are interested in having a great read about cricket and the people and places of Australia, (all while supporting a good cause), please grab a copy via the link below for only $20: https://inhousebookstore.com.au//a-view-of-australia-from-

07.01.2022 NWMCA Clubs We have received the following advice from Cricket Victoria and the VMCU in relation to use of outdoor cricket nets by the community: Late this morning the Premier has confirmed that under the Second Step in the roadmap for Metro Melbourne, nets can be opened for public use. Great common sense clarity and beneficial over the final week of school holidays. This doesn’t mean training can start, but the community (including cricketers) can use public nets in their ...area (see details below). __________________________________________________________________________ Under 2nd Step Metropolitan Melbourne - No training sessions can commence. - A household (or up to 5 people from 2 households) can meet outdoors for exercise or recreation for up to 2 x 1-hour sessions per day within 5km from home / work. This includes using cricket ovals and nets. People using the nets should sanitise hands before and after use, avoid sharing any personal equipment and avoid touching the nets (or communal stumps / bins etc). Masks can be lowered or removed when actively bowling (especially pace bowling) and encouraged for use whilst batting (but lowered to under the nose if causing a dangerous visibility risk under a helmet). _________________________________________________________________________ Note the mask advice for Step 2 will be more stringent wording than for Step 3 onwards and these aren’t training sessions and members of the public will lbe more likely to report in Step 2 and they are may be fined for not wearing a mask. There is also more ‘downtime’ in a 1 on 1 type sessions compared to a full training session so the physical exertion test is harder to argue so mask use is more appropriate in Step 2 that regular step 3 / final step training session. Equipment sharing is allowed when training resumes (not Step 2)
05.01.2022 All NWMCA clubs We have received the following email from Cricket Victoria. There are still some issues to work through before we can talk about a return to play roadmap When we know more, we will share with you all... #staysafe Peter Bryceson President NWMCA Hi Association Secretaries and Presidents in the metro area of our South West Area, Just alerting you that Cricket Victoria representatives are meeting with Sport & Recreation Victoria and VicSport today. A key consideration is how the latest restrictions determine the roadmap for a return to cricket (including training, wicket preparation, use of masks and travel restrictions) - specifically in metro Melbourne. As you can appreciate, we want to make sure that any advice and guidelines coming from Cricket Victoria is correct. Please be assured that when we have clear information regarding the possible return to training and playing cricket, we will pass it on as urgently as possible. We expect to be able to provide an update to you in the coming days. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to reply to myself/Dan Trevillian/Paul Milo and we will ensure that any specific queries you have are being considered. Regards Chris Harris Area Manager - South West Cricket Victoria
05.01.2022 We have had a number of questions from clubs, officials and players and supporters about when we can train, when will the season start, and what will the season look like. All of this relies on moving to step 3 on the State goverment road map to a Covid normal. We covered all of this in our September update. ... But it is summarised in the pics attached If we move to Step 3 early (say October 19), then the season will still start in Mid November as listed We will be having meetings (online) with clubs to talk through more issues and detail as follows: Senior clubs. Wednesday 14th October 7.30pm Female cricket clubs (Womens and Girls). Tuesday 20th October 7.30pm Junior clubs Wednesday 21st October 7.30pm Invites will issue soon All of our previous update videos are on our YouTube channel - search for NWMCA Victoria - yes they are a little long....but what else is there to do in lockdown You can catch up on all the update videos here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8wKxOJuja8-AYTlUo-Xf5g
