22.01.2022 One in five mums will experience perinatal anxiety and / or depression. We also know that a significant number of non birth parents experience similar rates of ...mental illess. Left untreated, these illnesses can have long-lasting impacts on parents, partners, baby and the rest of the family. 19.01.2022 Today is Thank you NICU Day! A day where we take a moment to thank our NICU and SCN staff for their hard work looking after premature babies until they are well enough to go home. To celebrate, our Committee members Nicole, Emma and Stephanie visited the NICU and SCN’s at our local hospitals - Westmead, Westmead Private, Norwest and Blacktown and delivered some Thank You chocolates and cards filled out by members with multiples who spent time there. Stephanie was joined by... members Sundar and Erik and their little twins Andre and Aria who spent some time in the Westmead NICU/SCN recently. Preterm birth is considerably more frequent in multiple births compared to singleton pregnancies, occurring in over 50% of all twin births and almost 100% of higher order multiple births. NWSMBA has set up electronic cards to help you say thanks to the NICU / SCN that cared for your multiples. If you are a current or past member, no matter how long ago you had your babies, let them know how grateful you are by clicki...ng on the link below to the hospital your multiple(s) stayed in.
