21.01.2022 If your working on losing weight, And you think you are in a calorie deficit, But you not losing weight,... Then you are NOT in a calorie deficit Or at least not consistently. Dieting is hard, but it doesn’t have to be as hard / disciplinary / restrictive as you think it has to be Work on behaviours over foods Learn about calories/ food densities. Be kind to yourself in the process Find other things you can feel accomplished in while you lose the weight Lift / Strength Train

21.01.2022 When I started my personal #HealthandFitness journey I was only interested in one thing, and one thing only. I just "had" to lose weight. Losing weight for me, was the only way of creating self worth.... I jumped at anything and everything that would get me there... and "as quick as possible" (that in itself was a trap!) I'll be the first to admit, I made so many mistakes and through the process, I've made it so much harder for myself than it needed to be. And despite the crazy/ unhelpful things "working" (meaning I did lose the weight) something still stuck out for me... I still didn't have the actual thing I craved. Self worth and/ or a positive view on self. This is why I'm so freaking passionate (and stubbornly "persistent") in being real with people and maybe coming across a little condescending or dismissive. I just don't want anyone to make the unnecessary mistakes I made. I just want people to get the things they are telling me they want, and also the things that underpin what they say they want (that they themselves might not be aware of). Now I still make mistakes. I still have processes to work through. Again, I have no shame in admitting that, but for context sake, I think it's important to share "where I am coming from" "Weight Loss" / "Fat Loss" / Body Image / "Health + Fitness" is so incredibly emotional fuelled and triggering. So everything I write about, share or the content I create comes from a place of understanding, not judgement. It comes from a place of mutual experience. Read and/ or "consume" it as best you can with love, openness and possibility. That maybe, just maybe, you to could make changes to your life, and live as you want to. I want the best for you I believe you can achieve such greatness I know, you have more in you, and I care enough about you to say so. #biglove #journey #fatlose #weightlose #bodypositivity See more

21.01.2022 I’m basically turning into a meme page, though humour is a great way to convey information and allows me to have a little more fun with content creation Now... There’s absolutely no judgement of eating the same thing day in day out, I mean shit, I’ve done it for years!... The thing that gets me is that foods become glorified especially in the Bodybuilding scene. Like the foods you eat says something about your dedication to the sport. Protein and Oats is a filling meal, it’s quite voluminous for the calories that it is (sometimes). But what if you don’t like oats? Or maybe you want to go out for breakfast with friends/ loved ones? Then what? And don’t even get me started on the whole Chicken + Broccoli thing. Bodybuilding Lifting and Dieting Getting stronger and looking better naked Whatever you want to call it. However you are working towards it. Just be a little more curious with the inner dialogues/ beliefs and adopt aspects that are integrative, not isolating. Aim for longevity. Yes, you might achieve 10% better results with a blind sense of optimisation over 1-2 years (and that’s a huge freakin’ might!) But then -80% results when you fall off the wagon as soon as life hits you back. OR You could achieve 3- 5% better results consistently over 10+ years and also have a dynamite life while doing so... At the end of the day, you are an adult... So you do you boo

20.01.2022 Want to know the power of Coaching? Okay, try this... Stand up, reach one hand above your head.... Did you do it? How high did you reach? ... Now reach higher. Stretch a little, maybe even make it a little uncomfortable. Again, did you do it? Did you reach further than before? ... Okay, now reach even further, go onto your tippy toes if you have to, just go further, even get that other arm up there. ... If you did the above you'll notice that you simply reached further than you initially thought you could. And if you didn't do the exercise for whatever reason, I bet even in your mind you still reached further. That's the power of having a Coach. ... Reach out if you want to know how to get even further with your training, with your food or even in your life. See more

20.01.2022 The Bench Press, for most, is the first big free weight movement learnt and of course is the corner stone of Chest Monday and every single bro split Bench and Biceps anyone? Right? As amazing as this movement it, it certainly messes up a lot of shoulders.... Why? Positioning and Mobility/ Stability Position Think Chest Up and Open Shoulders blades tucked down + together into the Bench (not flat nor up around your ears) Brace into an arch in Upper Back (don’t confuse this with an arch in lower back, the two are very different!) Mobility and Stability Think mobility of the upper back (both a capacity to rotate and flex/ extend) + Stability of rotator cuff of shoulder (is your external rotation as strong as internal rotation? For most... probs not) Lastly, like anything, if you want to improve upon this lift, do it more often, with different rep ranges/ loads and if you are learning the movement, slow the eff down and concentrate on each part of the movement Nicko

20.01.2022 The notion of strength in numbers has stood the test of time. No longer should lifting and all things gym be different Equally moving away from random sweaty workouts and misleading training methods would serve the community well.... Enter our Semi- Private Personal Training classes where you are able to lift in a community of like minded people and be ensured you are being specific to your goals (as long as your goals are getting stronger and looking better naked) Strong People, bring out the Strong in people, and that’s what we do here Enquiries welcome, but if you simply message how much I’ll most likely ignore you. It’s the wrong damn question to start a conversation

20.01.2022 We have a very exciting announcement to share with all of you. Unfortunately you will have to wait til tomorrow. In the meantime...... I will take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude + appreciation to all clients/ members past and present for their support of Nexus (and me) I don't think anyone will argue that plenty of blood, sweat + tears (and some bloody massive hours) have been put into this "little" venture/ idea of mine. I have loved what I have shared with you thus far, but more so, I look forward to sharing even more of my passion with all of you. Big love, Nicko (+ Hugo + Breeza) See more

20.01.2022 So it seems we will just have to wait a little longer before we really get back into action. With today’s announcements, though still not 100% clear for gyms / personal training, we will be extending the gyms doors being closed until at least the 28th September. More announcements will of course be needed, but that’s the deal at this stage.... I want to encourage all of you to keep moving as best you can, if you need help/ direction reach out to us, if you were planning on getting stuck back into it don’t let this push back of a time line get in the way. Big love to you all, stay safe and keep moving. #reopening #roadmap #vicgov #announcement #restrictionscontinue #gym #fitness #staysafe #keepmoving #strongertogether #nexusstrong #ballaratgyms #ballarat #ballaratfitness #ballaratpersonaltrainer

19.01.2022 Do you love yourself? I mean, truly? Because there is a difference between self care, and self love

19.01.2022 Ketogenic diet PART 2 Last week I spoke about why the ketogenic diet would be (or maybe it wouldn't be) the ideal "diet" for you. In the post (you should check it out if you missed it) I briefly touched on something I see quite often if people that start a #ketodiet... Their scale weight drops super fucking quick in the first couple of weeks. And naturally, I want to speak to this directly. Your self worth does not come from what the scales say. Cool, now that's out of the way, here's my real point of bringing this up as a #part2 When you start any new diet, you are super adherent, so your scales will move quickly because you are most likely actually in a calorie deficit and sticking to it. When you start a ketogenic style diet you cut out all da Carbs (and some proteins) so that means your volume of foods consumed has dramatically reduced, therefore while you keep pooping day to day (I at least hope anyway) your stomach slowly empties - scales quickly change. Then because you aren't consuming Carbs, but your body is still relying on carb/ glucose as your primary source of energy, it starts depositing all that stored glucose from your muscle system (so handy this is!!) Water was holding this stored glucose in your muscles, therefore as your body consumes the once stored glucose it further gets rid of the water it needed to store it. Therefore scales drop quicker again. Sorry to burst the ol' bubble but you haven't really started losing fat like you had assimilated, you just manipulated your scale weight like UFC fighters and Powerlifter do. But that doesn't under value that you were consistent and adhere to "a diet" keep going, and like all these things I've listed here, works backwards as soon as you start consuming carbs again, so scale weight will "jump"... You've been warned. Lastly, scale weight does not represent your self worth nor your direct "fat loss" or even for that matter "fat gain" K bye, thanks for reading don't forget to share See more

18.01.2022 Though the looks of it is quite weird, cupping is a fantastic way to reduce tension and increase blood circulation in muscles. Though not completely physiologically accurate, the easiest way I describe this process is A) Blood flow... The cups draw out the sediment and "shitty" blood from the muscle, leaving it behind in the Epidermis (layer of skin) for your Lymphatic system to correctly remove what needs to be removed. The darker the circle left behind, the more that was drawn out of the tissue (or the more that was there before the cupping). The less sediments and "shitty" blood in the muscle tissue, of course, the more good healthy healing blood can fill the tissue and allow happier muscles. B) Passive Stretch Ever bent forward to touch your toes and felt this god almighty pull/ pain/ stretch in your hamstrings? Then held it for a little bit then it released and you could reach further? - Neurologically that's your brain recognising the stimulus and sending signals to the Hamstrings to "release" Cupping works the same way, just passively, when the cups are placed on the body, signals are sent from the muscle to the brain saying, There's a pull/ pain/ stretch happening, the brain returns a signal saying, release. Cupping isn't for everyone, and that's okay, like most things it's a tool to help a specific outcome. Remedial massage aims to restore muscle/ connective tissue therefore supporting postural integrity and allowing the body to be less "sore". Bookings available online See more

17.01.2022 The longer I tried to perfect "my shit" the longer it stayed shit. I spent a long time not really progressing "as much" as I could have because I had this belief I had to make it perfect otherwise "what's the point?" Doing the work and the processes that are involved call for progression, not perfection.... What does progress look like I hear you ask? Here's just a few to sink your teeth into:- - Every time you eat a meal as you planned - Every time you intentionally move your body - Every time you keep a promise to yourself - Every time you "show up" for yourself - Every time you notice stress and breath into it. - Every time you get clear on what you want With all that said it basically comes down to progression is getting as close to what you need to do, as many times as you can sustainably/ helpfully and keeping at it/ setting new #goals as they are needed. 17.01.2022 I spent years spinning my wheels/ not getting the results I wanted because I never took a step back to really look at my actions (honestly and openly/ without ego). It wasn't until I took a step back, took stock of the things I was doing, assessed them against what "I wanted" and then if need be shifted the actions I was taking, day to day, week to week, month to month and so on. This "game" called #healthandfitness is based on averages.... Not "being average" but the accumulation of actions, divided by how many actions made, over time. Make sense? or did I lose you at #math See more

16.01.2022 Let go of what you have been taught for diets and losing weight. Myths and dogma have not served you previously, and most likely won’t If you hate it or begrudgingly do it to fill a need you may want to take a breath and consider all of your options

16.01.2022 There's an undeniable sense of achievement and fulfilment when many sessions, weeks of effort and months of persistence comes into fruition. To achieve any goal, to make a new PR (Personal Record) is to know that every rep had its place. Each rep was part of the process to the next level.... The process is so much more than the result. That is a fundamental truth of Strength Training. And that is why I love sharing it with people. Because it has a direct transfer to life. We are miserable constantly focused on the "next thing" where as we can live a fulfilled life enjoying the process, life itself. See more

16.01.2022 ICYMI - The Nexus Rebrand is now offical. I did "Go Live" on IG, and posted the video there if you want to check it out. New Logo ? - Yes, but same underpinning Values - I'm just owning them more publicly and will be upholding them better.... The new Logo upholds Nexus at its core and the intentions when I first came up with the name when I started the business back in 2013. * Definitions Time! * Nexus - The connections, or series of connections, to an idea. The Idea - Personal Health Personal - The adaptive and progressive view of an individual, based on their needs, circumstances and experiences. Health - the ability to adapt and self-manage in the face of social, physical, and emotional challenges (Huber 2011). I have never been one to "just do things". Everything I do and have done, day to day, week to week, year to year, has had a reason or rationale. It's the way I operate. It's the way I tick. This new look and feel of "brand" is no different.

16.01.2022 Though a reasonable fear, getting too bulky or too muscular by lifting weights is a little misplaced. AND more importantly the overall health benefits from lifting (both physically and mentally) is truly second to none. In saying all the just remember that if you don’t want to be Over the top Jacked/ Bulky/ Muscular then don’t optimise your training and nutrition for growth ... Lift for well-being Lift for self empowerment Lift for quality of Life And also maybe (for the ladies especially) don’t use any PEDs (steroids/ TRT) this will dramatically reduce your chances of looking like a Mr / Mrs Olympia

16.01.2022 As per the IGtv video I posted yesterday (only on Instagram sorry, forgot to save it, to post on Facebook ) I spoke about all the different ways people (and myself) set themselves up for failing their own goals that they think will motivate them and yet so often lose said motivation after a week or two I want to lose weight ... - too ambiguous, how can you measure this? when will enough be enough I want to be fitter - again ambiguous but also no deadline, will saying to yourself I have a goal to be fitter get you out of bed to go for a walk or help you show up to the gym on the afternoon your a little tired? Okay so then maybe let’s say you lose some weight and/ or get fitter Now what? Setting a distinct reward and celebrating the fuck out of your new self / achievements is crucial. Don’t let your new default rob you of the work + effort you put in to get there! Lastly, conceptualising your goals as yard sticks, or milestone, to measure the direction you are moving (if your moving) and adjust if need be rather than being a dick to yourself and using Goals as another reason why you suck Give me a if this makes sense. And or show me some love with a Or go crazy with both

16.01.2022 Ahhh, The Deadlift, the biggest flex of all the gym movements, aside from curls in the squat rack of course. This little beauty though exciting/ spectacular to watch be performed by the experienced, it's one of the most ugliest/ scariest to watch in gyms across the land. Many backs/ bodies have been wrecked in the name of PB's and trying to impress the local hottie or more to the point "da boys".... Before we even get into the sequencing of this movement, you need to master Glute engagement and "heavy Hip Thrusts" before you go walking up the the deadlift platform. If you are impatient with this movement, you will be its Bitch. So if you can't squeeze/ flex those cheeks then walk away and get to work on that. Once you've achieved base level then we get started *each cue builds to the next, but gets reinforced throughout. Start with a band - Cue - Pull band to shin / Squeeze arm pit Build to Kettlebell then Dumbbell - Cue - Tip forward with torso, Squeeze bum to upright position Then to Barbell - Cue - Push earth away, as you squeeze arm pits (and bum) while keeping torso stable. BOOM... Deadlift, slowly and progressively add weight to the bar, impress that hottie (and the boys) See more

12.01.2022 Your initial efforts with training in the gym is similar to the training of a new puppy. You need clear direction, if left to your own device, you'll most likely be doing "undesirable things". Consistency is key. It's unreasonable to expect yourself to remember "all the things" and yes you will need lots of little corrections along the way.... So set yourself up for success. Negative cueing and "corrections" only get you so far. Positive small wins gets so much more long term successes. No, you don't necessarily have to get "professional help", you CAN follow YouTube videos and IG tutorials, but it is much harder and you can still miss steps/ context. Lastly, just like puppies, you will grow "older" in the gym and your day to day enjoyment and relationship with the gym will depend on the efforts you put in, in those crucial first couple of months. **Remember** You can't be angry at yourself for the things you weren't shown/ taught AND more importantly blame yourself for the "wrong things" you WERE taught by someone inexperienced/ didn't know any better. You can learn and get "better" It will just take the right kind of place/ person/ support. See more

11.01.2022 Special Announcement for Team Nexus

11.01.2022 I only eat 1 meal a day, why can’t I lose weight? This question (or style of questions) gets thrown at me a lot. Now in fairness, the person asking (in my opinion) isn’t actually asking a question. ... I believe when someone says something along these lines they are saying a statement and expressing their frustration as to how freakin’ hard it is to lose weight. Because if they were asking a question, they would be open and willing to hear my answer. In some way, shape or form, you’re eating too many calories 1 meal can still be your days worth of calories. 1 meal can be the thing you sit down for at the end of the day - but what about the 1 biscuit with that coffee, that coffee with milk +2 sugars. What about the little piece of left overs from your kids plate/ bowl? And in addition to the above, are we then equally talking about only 7 meals for the entire week? Week after week, month after month? Because if we aren’t talking that, and for the majority of the week/ month you do in fact have 1 meal a day but then on the weekend has you going to town and then you dissociate (suppress the memory of) from the feasting / wow of a time the weekend was. That is why it’s so freakin hard, because our culture has set us up to fail. We lie to others We lie to ourselves and We really struggle letting go of our Egos and being open to learning what we need to have success. See more

07.01.2022 The biggest travesty in the "Health + Fitness Industry" is this notion that you have to exercise to deserve food... My god this is such a harmful and significantly misrepresented notion, that simply, we just need to let go of... please. Just like Health Care when we are sick... - We shouldn't have to "do anything" to receive it when we need it - But that doesn't mean we get to forgo our responsibility for our own health. Just like Kindness - We shouldn't have to "do anything" to receive it - But that doesn't mean we get to forgo our responsibility to be kind to ourselves and even others. Just like Respect - We shouldn't have to "do anything" to receive it - But that doesn't mean we can walk around being a jerk and demanding respect. And so with Food - We shouldn't have to "do anything" to have it - It's a necessity to your existence, you need it to survive. But that doesn't mean we get to walk around being a jerk and demanding better health or "a banging' body" without taking responsibility of our choices in what we consume day to day, week to week, year to year. Lastly, with Exercise - It's not a punishment, a "have to" and it's certainly not a "by pass" or "get out of jail free card" to the responsibility of what we consume. It's a gift to self, to show yourself kindness and respect for yourself, and in doing so, you take responsibility of your own health. All of which you deserve. Period. See more

07.01.2022 Look, everyone is a bit bummed about yesterdays announcements and the extension of the current restriction upon our community/ livelihood. Breath... What were you planning on doing (outside of getting back into the gym...)... If "getting into gym" was your plan, there was a reason for it. Maybe you're craving routine? Maybe you're craving an environment designed for exercise? Maybe you're craving to move your body more/ get stronger? And yeah totally "a gym" would provide an opportunity for all of those things. But how could you move toward those things between now and the 28th Sept (potentially longer?) What were you planning on working towards? How can you still move in that direction? If you consistently wait for "the perfect conditions" you'll never leave your "comfort zone" and if you never leave your comfort zone, you'll never change/ make progress. See more

07.01.2022 My Weight Gain Over Xmas- Does this mean all hope is lost for me/ my goals?

06.01.2022 Why I started Nexus? I started Nexus because I wanted to give people a space they could realise their potential, or at least challenge their own perceived potential. Though as passionate as I am about this, and seemingly have a gift to be able to see more in people than they sometimes appreciate, I haven't previously shared (on social media anyway) heaps about what I do, why I do it and also the how I do what I do.... Why? Well :- A) I used the excuse I was far too busy to "do the socials". B) The words I would want to use have been that watered down by the industry it hurts my soul, and really, those words serve no meaning any more #mindset #healthylifestyle #mindbodysoul #progressnotperfection etc C) But really, it was all because I was scared. Scared of putting myself out there. Scared of not being seen. Scared of people taking my awesome ideas, manipulating the ideas and using them against people/ for profit only. And in a weird way, I was also scared of success. So my friends, I do all this both for you - so you can learn as much as you can to achieve your goals or even to set yourself helpful goals that you can achieve #informationispower And for me - to lean into the discomfort of putting ones self out there. Not to be validated or make all the money. Just to know that I am doing exactly what I want to do, each and every day. See more

06.01.2022 Body Composition refers to literally that. The composition of your body. Meaning the amount of fat and lean mass you carry on your frame.... Where I see so many people "go wrong" is they put so much stock (energy/ belief) into what they weigh, and then they relate that to how they look (particularly with minimal clothing) Have you ever heard someone say (or said it your self) WTF I have put on 5kg??? (in a tone or way to assimilate that they "look" 5kg worse now?) Though I do completely understand why people do this (and I use to do it myself) to me, what you weigh is completely different to how you look. SO.. If you want to simply "weigh less" then you can easily manipulate what and how you consume certain things for a week, do a massive sweat/ sauna session and you will 100% weigh less. *Weight class athletes do this all the time to manipulate purely scale weight so they can compete with varying handy caps/ performance benefits. However... If you want to look better naked, to change your body composition, the you need to wake up to the behavioural patterns, learn some better habits around your food and exercise. I guarantee that how you perceive to "get the results" is very misled / misinformed, and that's okay... You are not the only one out there. Now you have a choice, keep being misinformed, keep feeling like shit about yourself, or do something about it. Learn some shit, ask more questions and build the body composition you desire/ deserve. 05.01.2022 Remedial Massage appts are filling up for the year, only a certain number of appts before end of 2020. Jump online and lock in your session so you don't miss out.

05.01.2022 It doesn’t matter how many years you put into the gym It’s what you do in the gym over time that does Intention and Purpose.... Read all that again and then go give @ballarat_strength_club a follow

05.01.2022 The mighty Push Up, a move that is often used but poorly executed. Why it’s often poorly executed is because of people’s ego, or that they don’t understand the progression/ regression model. Having a fundamental concept and capacity to execute a movement often requires a step back from the norm or what everyone else does.... Range of motion is king here, if you can’t control the full range of one, then take the step back to the previous level. Under control refers to scapulae (shoulder blade) control or the rhythm of scapulae. When your chest is closer to the floor (bottom part of movement) your shoulder blades should be fully depressed and retracted (down and together). At the top of the movement (chest furtherest from floor) your scapulae should be wrapped around tight on your rib cage (protraction with some upward rotation of scapulae). Outside of scapulae control, like with most things your torso/ spine should remain engaged and not move throughout. Once you can do 3 sets of 10 reps at one level, progress to the next for 3x 5. Building reps each session #pushup #pushupchallenge #scapularstability #scapular #scapularrhythmsmatter #exerciseathome #bodyweightexercises

04.01.2022 Despite there being some accuracy in my personal dislike of Cardio that doesn’t mean I can’t go for a run nor that I am unfit It means that I am clear of my personal goals and train (and eat) accordingly. All too often do I see and hear of people trying to tone up by constantly do cardio/ HIIT workouts and starve themselves silly... Now if that’s the style of training you truly like AND you are willing to own the trade offs then power to you this is not relevant to you But if you’re only doing it because you think that’s what will get the results AND you are constantly forcing yourself to do it AND are forever falling on and off the bandwagon then I’d say we should talk about your underpinning knowledge of The Process

04.01.2022 Though I promote Journaling, I don't always sit down and write for hours Though there are some amazing benefits to specifically writing pen to paper, it might not be what suits you "the best" It's certainly not always "the best" for me.... Personally, I like talking (I know... you would have never guessed it right???) So for me, the journaling process better suits me to say aloud the prompt and then what feels right to say. I do record the things I say and then listen back to what's said, just as if you were to write a heap down then read back over it. So my friends, if you aren't journaling or following the prompts because you don't like writing, or you "don't have time" to sit down and write" I strongly suggest you still do the prompts, just voice them aloud and/ or find another way to gift yourself the time and effort you do deserve. See more

04.01.2022 Cupping may look intimidating but there is nothing like the feeling when they do get released... Who here has had cupping and what do they think? For those interested, cupping is included in a Standard Treatment for no extra cost, I am a huge fan of utilising cupping within my practice and it equally allows me to work on additional area of the body while the cups do their thing.... Which simply means more bang for your buck when you do come in for a #RemedialMassage. See more

03.01.2022 Have you been keeping up the new #nexusdailyjournalprompt ? Each morning, I've posted to Instagram Stories (you should go across and follow the page #plug), a Journaling Prompt to help people learn and develop the process of self-care in the form of Journaling. I think the reason why most people don't Journal (daily or at all) is that they think of it differently to how I do (I guess like most things, I see and do things a bit differently... lol)... I think that most people view the idea of journaling, as a daily diary, like a past tense story telling of the day. Which unfortunately becomes very redundant, very quickly because most of us, day to day, do very similar things #creaturesofhabit And look, writing about your day is not a terrible place to start. It does give you an opportunity to "get the shit" out of your head, say what you need to say and to not freakin bottle it up like we were taught to do in society... I digress. So the idea of these daily prompts is to help you take time for yourself, getting to know yourself a little bit more. You only have to sit for 5-10 minutes and follow the prompt. A couple of examples from this week was "Something I find difficult is..." "Something I desire more of is..." "Something I want to let go of is..." So if you haven't journaled before, I challenge you to give it a go, follow the daily prompts and don't forget to share the experience with me: in your stories tag Nexus @nexuspersonalhealth or as a post using #nexusdailyjournalprompt If you have questions, or would like a bit more of a "how to" comment / send a DM See more

03.01.2022 In my opinion, not only does combining multiple and differing techniques within a massage provide a superior treatment, but it "shouldn't" just stop there. Also emphasising an integration of other modalities, overall, will provide better results. This is what I believe in. This is why I do what I do.... More to the point that's why I opened and integrated the gym space into my Business Plan. Because I saw the limitations of "just giving someone a massage". I wanted to ensure my clients (and anyone else looking for support) had the opportunity to have a safe space to work on themselves physically and mentally. So they could take control of their own body / manage their pain. Here's what I mean- Most pain comes from, or was initially caused by, an imbalance/ dysfunction of the working patterns within the body. Say you always have pain in your neck/ headaches? The imbalance starts with:- Tight chest muscles (shoulders rolled forward) Weak Mid/ Upper Back muscles (between shoulders blades) Tight muscles at the front of your neck (forward head position) Weak neck extenders (base of skull/ back of neck) Yes "bad posture" but it is a little more to it. Massage wise, we need to treat the tight muscles Exercise wise, we strengthen the weak muscles. Pattern wise, we need to consider work environment/ ergonomics. Mentally speaking, we need to take responsibility of our own lives/ pain, not be defeated by it, no give up on ourselves so easily and do the work to fulfil the progression of the above. And all the above also doesn't take in consideration the skeletal system and whether a chiropractic adjustment is required to help things "align"... but that doesn't replace the above mentioned. My friends, if you have aches and pains, please don't call it "ageing/ getting old" and don't let yourself be limited by them. 03.01.2022 Meditation is absolutely all it is cracked up to be. The trick? You have to practice and let go of your expectations.... Very similar to anything in life, especially Health and Fitness things Not losing weight quick enough ? - keep practicing and let go of expectations Getting frustrated that you can’t run around the Lake yet? - keep practicing and let go of expectations Not getting stronger quick enough ? - Steroids... Wait what? No, that’s doesn’t seem right.. oh yeah.. - keep practicing and let go of expectations We are all in such a rush, society has taught us this. Meditation can be the thing that helps us relearn how to take our time with things, reconnect with ourselves and practicing to let go of expectations.

02.01.2022 The days are getting longer and it's slowly getting warmer. Though we potentially can't explore as we "want to" that does not mean we are closed off to different experiences. When was the last time you took your shoes off and stood in a patch of grass?... When was the last time you just sat under a tree and watch it move in the wind? When was the last time you watched the sun rise, or even the sun set? There are so many more aspects to life we as a culture have closed ourselves off to/ forgotten about. This weekend, I challenge you to take 20 minutes to do one of the things above, or something along the same lines you haven't done in a long time. For no other intention than to experience life, to be in the moment and to breath into it. See more

02.01.2022 People really struggle with food and I totally get why... Culturally speaking, let's just take a moment to look at it, without our Ego's / with an open mind. What's something used day to day, as a reward for children to "do the right thing"? ... Food (particularly high calorie foods )... What's something portrayed in Movies/ TV shows when the character is in a deeply sad state or feels alone? ... Food (particularly high calorie food ) What's something we use to show our gratitude to others, particularly our wonderful frontline workers? ... Food (particularly high calorie food ) What's something we reach for, as soon as we get a little stressed/ overwhelmed? ... Food (particularly high calorie food ) Look I could go on and I think I made my point... But just to be sure. What kid (generally speaking) would clean their room for a strawberry ? What depressed person, or someone that has just been "dumped" reaches for some broccoli ? What would a frontline worker say if you handed them an apple while expressing your gratitude ? What deeply stressed out worker/ student reaches for some carrots to calm their nerve or for a "pick me up" ? Not freakin' many... Our society is consumed itself around consumables that are not conducive to managing calories. * Disclaimer* If you read all the above, and it doesn't directly apply to you, go you... All of the above is written with cultural stereotypes in mind that we all could spend a moment questioning every now and again. See more
