16.01.2022 26/08/2020 After two wet weekends finally some golf in what was brass monkey weather (Freezing) Saturday’s winner with -2 was Mick Beetson he started with two washouts then a few pars and a reasonable score in the end. Runner up with -3 was Brett Rope he achieved that score despite having eight washouts plenty of hidden ability with him. Tex Tomek had -4 after a horror start obviously it was too cold to swing the sticks properly. Sunday’s game was a mixture of aggregate ad be...st ball. Winners by a huge margin were Matt Sheather and a newie Troy Evans they has 65 points both very impressive said their markers, in particular Troy. Way back with 54 points was the pair of single figure golfers Les Dorrington and Brendan Smith they don’t do much wrong. That man Mr Rope bobbed up in third place with Pat Walsh on 53 points, for them Brett was a lot more consistent and like a couple more new golfers Charlie Cameron and Brodie Thompson it’s a new learning curve for them. Andy Lane played the shot of the day over the cowal, very close for an easy birdie. This Saturday is a Par and Sunday a 3 person Ambrose sponsored by Ken and Julie White at Foodworks. See more
15.01.2022 16/09/2020 Sitting up there on cloud nine are Wayne and Melissa Arandale winners of the 2020 Mixed foursomes championships. They took 119 Stokes for the 27 Holes. An excellent 36 off the stick set them up for the win. Dave Bartley and Many Martin finished with 121, they lost contest with Wayne and Melissa on the back nine taking 41 shots for that section. Next best with 124 was Deb and Nate Matheson they had a forgettable back nine of 44 strokes were way behind then rattled h...ome with a 38 for their last nine holes. Handicap honours went to Tara McDermott and Brendan Smith consistent all day with just a couple of faux pases they broke the ton with 97.75nett a big gap to 2nd spot with Croc Read and Ali Morriss notching up a 104.5 nett then Les Dorrington and Janine Tulenew with 105.75 Nett. Congratulations to Wayne and Melissa many many years since they last played competitive golf. The pins went to Ozzie & Brendan Smith (mens) Jodi Stewart took the 9th and 17th (ladies). Saturday was a stroke event with a three way tie at 67nett. Countback winner was Brett Rope he achieved three things, his first individual win, he broke the loo barrier and he broke his handicap he has a bright future in the game. Tex Toemek finished up in 2nd spot and Don Lister was relegated third. Dave Bartley 68 nett was close. The pin winner went to Mick Beetson. Numbers keep growing in Wednesdays am 9 holes(13) Steve Peterson is a member of the ‘I won’t work union now, he was numero uno last week with 18pts on a countback over Jodi Stewart. Fine golfers finished with 17points and that bloke Dick McGuinness won the N.T.P and putting comp (‘9) well done to all the weeks’ winner. Enjoy the spoils of success. See more

11.01.2022 09/09/2020 Thirty two starters for the Whitty Trophy keeping with tradition you need a super effort to claim the Trophy. Anthony Ah-See produced that score with 41pts a one over par round of 69, amongst golfer the (par4) 8th hole is regarded as the easiest par 5 on the course, Mr RC found that to be true when he took a very rare bogey. A visitor from Cobar David Tomek was runner up with 39pts he also stumbled with a bogie on the 8th and believe it or not Dean Woods 3rd o...n a countback suffered the same fate. The hard luck stories were from Don Lister 38pts (Drowned his ball in the billabong at the 18th) Jodi Douglas 37pts (had a misbehaving putter) Dick McGuinness 37pts (is the same Dick we all know and love). Going back in time 2006 Les Dorrington won with 44pts (Par Round) This year he was still a contender with 37pts. 2007 the ladies broke the drought when Maureen Finn won with 39pts and 2008 Dang Holmes 41pts was the King. Pin winners received a bonus for their efforts. Dick McGuinness (2nd) Peter Murphy (4th) Don Lister (14th) and Mim Pateman (17th) were the clever ones. A special thanks to Ken Whiley a previous presso, great mate of Whitty and the sponsor of the Trophy for many years, also to Tex, Mandy and Jodi for their background work on the day. Saturday was a par event and a couple of ancients in Don Lister and Pat Walsh finished the game locked together on +2. The winning margin in racing terms it was three fifths of five eights Tex was way back on -1 and Greg Matheson the pin winner. Mid-Week winners Dick again 20pts Viv next on 19pts, Tex 18pts, Jenny 17pts. Pin winners Viv, Nick Beetson and Colleen Anderson. Next Saturday is a stroke event and Sunday is the 27 hole mixed foursomes with a loam 9:30am start. Good luck and no apologies for a wayward shot. See more
10.01.2022 Nyngan Golfers enjoy Come and Try Day A successful come and try day was staged at Nyngan Golf Club on Saturday Debbie Matheson board Member and organizer for the day ‘said she was thrilled with the turn out and did not realize that so many people had interest in learning to play golf in the community the exciting part was the number of juniors that attended’. The day consisted of a golf clinic, drinks and BBQ Lunch.... Mrs Matheson would like to thank Golf NSW and Jack Newton Junior Golf for their recent initiative of placing Regional Managers in each region to help golf Clubs with the promotion of Golf and support for the club. The Western Regional Manager Gary Begg conducted the golf day, Gary has been a Golf Professional for over 40 years. Mr Begg ‘said he was excited to see so many beginners wanting to play the great game, the game that can be played until the day you die, the facts are that golfers live 4 years longer due to the health benefits with the exercise, there is also a reduced cost for the community Mental Health costs, as golf helps with people’s general wellbeing’ Mrs Matheson said that they will be starting junior golf and beginner golf soon, on Saturdays.
