25.01.2022 Hi All, the NCC is sad to hear of the recent passing of James Jim Horsburgh at age 98. Jim was one of the original Maroons playing cricket for Nyora over a career spanning the 1930s through to the 1950s. Jim was a solid opening bat who prided himself on keeping his wicket and getting the team off to a good start. He was also a handy spin bowler when called upon. We pass our condolences to Doreen and family at this time.

25.01.2022 Great turnout at our first Friday night meals for 2020 last Friday, a big thankyou to the community for your support as we look forward to the rest of the season. Congratulations to Sylvia Casey on winning the $50 supporter draw last week, along with the other prize winners. Meals will be on again tomorrow night, so come on down and enjoy a relaxing start to the long weekend. C Grade have their last home game for the season these next 2 weeks vs Tooradin. The team tried hard last week but came up just short against Pakenham, 167 to 149. The Jakes, Henry and Hackett had the bowling figures 2/23 (4 Overs) and 2/29 (8 Overs) while Gav Hackett was best with the bat 31 (3 Fours) Beautiful night for Friday night meals at the clubrooms, 6 pm start on meals, will all the usual prizes on offer, and your favorite beverages!

23.01.2022 Nyora Cricket Club season update 6 November PRESEASON MATCH This Saturday November 7 we are having an intra-club game at the Nyora Rec Reserve starting at 12pm. New players are welcome to attend and have a run. Bar will be open for spectators with COVID sign in required.... SENIOR SEASON START DATE Looking forward to getting senior cricket started next Saturday November 14. SubDistrict will play away to Pakenham with our D grade side playing host to Gembrook JUNIOR SEASON START DATE Junior cricket will start 1 week later on Friday 20 November with U10s and U12s. We have entered an U14s side but at this stage we need more numbers to make that happen. If you know of any U14 players in the area who'd like a game please let us know. U14 games are held on Saturday mornings. All Star girls schedule has not been released yet, we anticipate a start in December but will keep you posted. TRAINING Great to see so many players training at both junior and senior level. Senior training is held Tuesday and Thursday nights from 4.30pm . Junior training is on Wednesday nights from 4.30pm FRIDAY NIGHT MEALS With restrictions around indoor areas planned to be further eased as of next week we plan to resume our Friday night meals to the full menu from next Friday 14 November. Will keep you updated once we confirm plans for next week. 23.01.2022 *New appointment alert* The Nyora Cricket Club are proud to announce the appointment of Troy Brown to Director of Cricket for season 2021/22 Troy arrived at the NCC last season as club coach, and what a year he had!! Faced with the challenges of Covid-19, a limited preseason with a new playing group and the clubs relaunch into the ranks of Sub District, Troy didn’t disappoint!! Troy’s enthusiasm, coaching acumen and passion for both the club and its people were on display all... season, and we thank him. Troy now moves up into the role of Director of Cricket, which will see him oversee our whole clubs cricket activities, with a strong focus on our junior program. We believe Troy is the perfect candidate for this role, and feel fortunate to have a coach, and person of Troy’s caliber at our club. In further exciting news for the club, Troy will also be pulling on the whites this season. Troy has had a long and distinguished career, including a long stint at the mighty Scarborough Sharks CC in the Perth Premier CA. With a top score of 113* and best bowling of 6/13, Troy will be an asset both on and off field this year. Congratulations Troy!!!

For U12s this is there last match of the season as they have a bye next round so come down and support the kids from 5pm U10s are at Cardinia 4.30 arrival for a 5pm start.... Congrats to our All Star girls who last Monday played hard but were unable to get the win in the qualifying final against Officer. Its been a fantastic season for the girls and weve seen improvement from them week on week. C Grade toiled hard against Tooradin (8/296) with the ball and will need to bat through the overs this week to get the W. Shane Warren 2/39 (14 overs) and Dylan Ford 2/65/(16 overs) were the best with Gav Hackett taking 3 catches with the gloves on. 19.01.2022 Hi all, hope you are ready to wind down to the long weekend with Friday night meals tonight at the NCC clubrooms. The usual raffles will be on along with the NCC supporters draw which has jackpotted to $150 this week! Remember you need to be in attendance to win the cash prize, and you can still be a NCC supporter for only $10 to get in the draw and have your first drink free. Next Saturday March 14 we will be having a 20-20 game with the Nyora Football Netball Club so come ...down and enjoy a fun day. Sunday March 15 sees the NCC junior presentation day, all welcome to come celebrate a great season for the kids. Saturday March 28 is the NCC fishing trip at Tooradin with Tidemaster cruises. Cost is $140pp with breakfast/lunch and travel to and from Nyora included. All are welcome and its a great day out with Lindsay and his team with all fishing equipment and bait provided. Stumpy has a highest score of 109 and best bowling of 6/47 for his career to date, and we cant wait to have him back in the middle order and with some handy overs with the ball. 17.01.2022 Nyora Junior Cricket Season 2020-21 Hi All, Hope that everyone is well, Spring has come and cricket season isn't far away!... Given the nature of restrictions still in place we don't have a specific start date for training or games as yet. We are looking to get interest from families for how many junior teams we will have this year. Would like to have the same teams as last season (U10, U12 and a Girls side), as well as an U14 side if we have the numbers. Can you reply to this post or message us if your child is interested in playing this coming season, or share with others that may be interested. Any resumption of training/games will be under COVID safe guidelines as recommended by Cricket Victoria and Vic Government. Will have more updates as we get closer to season regarding confirmed dates and a start to training.

This post serves as an update of the season ahead. SEASON DATES With the latest restrictions coming to hand via the Victorian Government, at this stage the WGCA are eyeing off the earliest starting date the week of November 14. The season is likely to be made up of only One Day with the chance of some 20/20 games across junior and senior age groups. Once we have firm dates, they will be communicated. Season will therefore likely run from November 14 ish to March 31 (finals to be played during March). REGISTRATIONS We are accepting registrations now and these can be made online through the playcricket.com.au website for both junior and senior cricket, with link below https://www.playcricket.com.au/club-finder/club-details Senior subs will be $250 for the season and $130 for concession or students Junior subs are $5 (Cricket Australia administration charge). PRE-SEASON TRAINING/COVID REGULATIONS Until we have a clear road map from the Victorian Government and Cricket Victoria, we cannot begin training as a full senior group. For players that live in the South Gippsland council our nets are available to be used for groups of up to ten. However for players in the Melbourne Metro Area (inc Lang Lang), exercise can only be undertaken as a maximum of five people from two households. For those allowed to get to Nyora we highly recommend attempting to get some practice before we get into regular training, hopefully in mid-late October. There will be a number of COVID-19 changes to the way we prepare for games and training, but there won’t be too many physical game changes. 15.01.2022 Hi all, Friday night meals are on again tonight, and with the supporter draw not being claimed again last week it jackpots to $200 this week! All welcome to from 6pm tonight for meals and the usual raffles. This weekend sees our 20-20 game with the Nyora Football Netball Club on Saturday and junior presentation on Sunday from 12 noon with BBQ and jumping castle for the kids. 15.01.2022 Hi all, it is with a heavy heart that we mourn the recent passing of Lesley Prentice. Lesley was great friend of the club always helping out where she could. From preparing the team bag to scoring and looking after grandkids while Amanda and Keith played, nothing was ever too much for Lesley, she just got on with it. Socially, Lesley enjoyed being around the club. Attending and helping out with functions where she could.... Lesley contributed on the field as well, sub fielding when we needed in our 2s and playing 4 games for the club. We send our deepest condolences to Amanda, Keith and the family during this difficult time.

All attendees at Nyora will need to sign in using either the sign in sheets provided or the QR code, then sign out when leaving the venue. Masks are mandatory to be worn when out of your vehicle. Also parents any assistance that can provide is invaluable. Whether that be helping out at training or playing a role on game days. Please see Pete or Shona if you are able to help out. The girls league has been split into 2 groups this season U14s and U17s and we need numbers in all of those groups in order to have a side this season. Cory comes to us as an opening batsman / wicket keeper and 3 time premiership player from Crib Point (MPCA) with the past 2 seasons at Korumburra as coach in A grade Div 1. With a top score of 136, best bowling of 3/16 and a wealth of coaching experience we are rapt that Cory has chosen to come to Nyora. 06.01.2022 Hi All, the NCC is sad to hear of the recent passing of James 'Jim' Horsburgh at age 98. Jim was one of the original Maroons playing cricket for Nyora over a career spanning the 1930's through to the 1950's. Jim was a solid opening bat who prided himself on keeping his wicket and getting the team off to a good start. He was also a handy spin bowler when called upon. We pass our condolences to Doreen and family at this time.

05.01.2022 The Nyora Cricket Club would like to congratulate our very own Gavin Hackett on winning the 2020/21 WGCA Sub District Player of the Year!!! A champion for our club, and well respected throughout the competition, this is Gavin’s second WGCA Sub District Player of the Year award!! Always a model of consistency, Gavin finished the season with 234 runs and 13 wickets!! Please join me in congratulating Gavin on this fantastic achievement!! Go Maroons!!

Also due to COVID restrictions we will have limited seating indoors so please come early, open from 6pm. Phone orders are available, please call 0435 60 3987 between 6pm and 8pm for pickup. 04.01.2022 Hi All, has been a busy start to the season, but we are happy to announce that Friday night meals are back this Friday night December 4! Supporter membership draw will be back starting off at $100 prize along with our regular raffle. To be in the supporter draw you must be a supporter in 2020/21. Supporter memberships are $20 and come with a free drink upon signing up. We also have a lamb raffle which will be drawn in the next couple of weeks just in time for Christmas (D...raw date will depend on the availability of the butcher) . Tickets are $10 each and we will advise of the drawing date. Special thanks to Shona Lynch for donating the lamb. Even though the season has started we welcome all new and returning players who want to come try at senior / junior level. Senior training is Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5pm, with junior training from 4.30pm on Wednesdays all at the Nyora Rec Reserve. Enjoy your week and your cricket

01.01.2022 *New signing alert* The Nyora Cricket Club are extremely proud to announce the appointment of Henry Dolphin as playing coach for season 2021/22!!! Henry comes to us as one of the finest players to ever play in the MPCA. A 2 time league player of the year medal winner, and 2 time premiership captain coach.... Henry is a legend of the Crib Point Cricket Club, and has an unbelievable resume well worth reading. Henry holds all of CPCC’s individual batting records including most runs (over 7000), most centuries (8) and most half centuries (40). In his time in the MPCA, Henry has won 8 club champions (7 with Crib Point and 1 with Moorooduc Cricket Club). Henry is also an exceptional leg spin bowler, with well over 200 wickets and career best figures of 6/36 along with a highest individual score of 221!! As a club, we are thrilled to have a player coach of Henry’s pedigree join our playing group. Our entire playing group will benefit greatly from his coaching, knowledge and professionalism.
