18.01.2022 Nyrstar has recently purchased a Kalmar Reach Stacker to optimise the movement of raw materials on site. Our Technical Guru's Graham and Ben gave a presentation and explained how the Nyrsar Zinc Works is like a giant chemistry set. The group then went on a tour of the plant and got to see the real-life application of science in industry. ... The work, which was created using only sounds from the Zinc Works was shown at Launceston's Duck Reach Power Station and at Nyrstar Hobart. The Age described the composition ‘an industrial symphony of intimidating beauty and power’.... Graham, our Technical Manager compared the plant to giant chemistry set, because of the kinds of processes we use to extract zinc. We're looking forward to the Beaker Street Festival, which runs in Science Week, in August this year.

08.01.2022 Check out this awesome little video of Nyrstar Hobart's Pure Zinc stage at The Mind Games 2021. We wanted our activity to show participants who we are, and what we do at Nyrstar Hobart as well as being fun for five teams of five people for 20 minutes at a time. The team came up with the idea to use water mazes, air pumps and coloured ping pong balls to show how we refine zinc from the raw materials we process at Nyrstar.... Nelson from Tall Design created the incredible backdrop - which was an illustrated version of our plant and process chart!
