25.01.2022 On Wednesday at Sunnybank I was joined by Steffanie, one of the students from my class at BST. She’s a pretty new Christian and still getting things figured out... for herself but was very excited to come and see what street evangelism looks like. We talked with Sam who is 23 years old from Hong Kong. His English was a little bit limited but despite that, we managed to carry on a fairly long conversation. He has no real religious background but suggested that he believed in reincarnation, though he could not explain why he thought that this might be true. As I began to share about Christian things, he started to raise all sorts of objections about God’s existence and the Bible, but when I questioned him about why he thought that was the case, he couldn’t give me an answer. He was adamant that I was completely wrong, and mocked the idea of God, but when pressed could not defend his views at all. I showed him that it was not a lack of argument or a lack of evidence that was his problem, but rather an unwillingness to have anyone tell him how he should live, especially not God. I moved into explaining the gospel, and for a time, the objections stopped as he admitted his guilt of breaking the commands. I explained what Jesus had done, and though there were a few more objections, for the most part he listened carefully. Please pray for Sam that God would humble him, and for Steffanie as she thinks through some really big gospel ideas.
23.01.2022 On Saturday at Redcliffe, I admittedly had a bit of a rough session where for the entire time, almost no one stopped to talk with me other than a few professing... Christians who I was able to encourage. Early in the outreach Col had a conversation with a couple of young guys together. One had been to church but did not understand the gospel, and the other had never heard anything about God or salvation in Christ. One of the two went from being sceptical about whether there was a God, to being quite interested and open to the reality of a creator. By the end of the conversation, both guys had a good understanding of the gospel and were happy to receive Bibles. Col also shared that he had several really great conversations with folks on the other side of the road along the waterfront! Please pray for those who heard the gospel, that God will continue to work in their lives and bring them to salvation. Please pray also for the many that day who took tracts.
17.01.2022 On Tuesday at Woodridge, I first chatted with Cullen, Colin and Emma who stopped to look at the Good Person Test. They were great kids to chat to and as I asked... them about their beliefs, Emma claimed to be an atheist, Colin said he believes in an afterlife and a creator, and Cullen wasn’t sure. Emma protested that her views would not change and so I challenged her about whether it was a lack of evidence or that she was biased against any evidence. She admitted that she seemed to have a bias and that this was not a good thing. Cullen said that he wanted proof but couldn’t tell me what sort of proof would be sufficient to prove there was a God. I showed him how we can’t see or measure God, but that we could still use very basic logic to prove what he already knows deep down. I walked him through an argument for God’s existence and his jaw dropped and his eyes became really wide! He exclaimed that I’d changed his perspective massively! I then shared the gospel with all three of them and showed them that the message of Christianity is about how we have rebelled against God but that he would save us through Jesus. They had never heard most of it before. They each took tracts and thanked me for chatting. Janali and her mum Hayley had stopped to chat several times a couple of years back and had been very open. She had seen me from across the street and crossed over to say a quick hi. She didn’t have time to chat, but said that now that she knew we were back, she would stop by soon to catch up. Please pray for her! Harrison is 14 and wandered up to the Good Person Test and was very curious to know what it was all about. When I asked him about the afterlife, he explained that his adult sister is a Christian, but he really wasn’t sure that there is anything after this life. I argued briefly for God’s existence and for the Bible as God’s word and he took a huge breath and then exclaimed Whoa! I shared the gospel at length with him and then also gave him a tract and a gospel of John to read. Please pray for those who heard the gospel and who received tracts during the afternoon that they would be saved. Please pray especially for those who have been coming back a few times and we’re getting to know them fairly well.
10.01.2022 On Friday night, Andrew from BST and I took the opportunity to chat to people in the city about Jesus. The first person we spoke to was Georgi who was pretty n...on-religious but had done a few years at an Anglican school. She knew very little about any religions but seemed very open to learn about what they taught and how we can know what comes next. I shared with her that the only way we can know what comes next is if there is a creator who tells us, and so I made a very simple argument for the existence of God and how he has revealed himself through the Bible. We talked through the gospel and explained what the Bible says about our afterlife. Later in the evening, we chatted with Shane who is 66 years old. He drives a charter coach and had ages to wait while his passengers attended an event before he could drive them home. He didn’t have much religious upbringing but seemed genuinely thoughtful when he was confronted by the idea of his own mortality. We talked through the gospel at great length and he was very willing to answer some hard questions. Because it had been a very friendly dialogue, I was able to challenge him pretty hard at the end and he gratefully received a tract and a gospel of John to read. Please pray for these folks and a few others who had partial conversations over the evening.

09.01.2022 On Thursday, Martin and I were joined by Andrew, a young student from the Bible college who has come with us a few times now. I decided to pair him up with Mart...in so that they could have a go working together. I spoke at first to Lachlan who has a churched background and seemed to have most of the right answers, however I was pretty concerned that he said he doesn’t currently attend church. We talked through a few issues including some foolish decisions he’s made lately, and then I was able to point him to a good church near his house. Amos is a retired investigator with the police who told me that he died twice on the operating table! Coming from an Islander background, he was raised in a Christian community but really had never made much of it. He had lots of gaps in his understanding, but as we spoke, he seemed to put a lot of it together for the first time. He nodded agreement over and over as we spoke and ultimately showed that he now understood the gospel. He was very deep in thought and gladly took a tract and thanked me for chatting. Martin and Andrew meanwhile chatted with Isaiah and Vikki. Isaiah had been drinking a bit and was quite drunk, but Andrew was able to collect some food from a nearby promotional vendor from them both. They chatted for a bit and in the end, both took a gospel of John to read. Miguel and Angelica initially stated that they were unsure what comes next or that reincarnation made sense to them, but they couldn’t really give a reason why. They had been raised Catholic in their native Colombia but had both rejected the faith. I was able to share a simple argument for God’s existence with them before they had to leave and then they took tracts. Andrew talked to a young lady who called herself Noah. Her assumed name seemed to be chosen with her deliberately masculine appearance. She had been involved with the church when she was young. Andrew was able to go all the way through the gospel with her and she also asked a lot of questions. Andrew helped her download a Bible app and then pointed her to a few sections to read. I believe this is Andrew's first time taking someone all the way through the gospel on his own! Andrew and I then talked with Seth and Crystal. Both were pretty non-religious and yet Seth had a cross on his necklace, a cross hanging from his earing and a small cross tattooed behind his ear! They had both been to church a few times as kids but didn’t know much about what comes next. They hoped for reincarnation. Seth argued that he’s a good person, even though it came out in the conversation that he had been locked up multiple times! I took the time to show him that we are not good by God’s standard and that this would have us in big trouble. I was able to walk Seth all the way through the gospel and showed him that he needed a rescuer. To my surprise, Seth then stated that this was now what he believes and so we talked through the need to count the cost of following Jesus. Please pray for all those who heard the gospel on Thursday!
09.01.2022 We're at the Ipswich show for the next 2 days! There's an opportunity to reach loads of people! Please pray for a fruitful time of ministry!
06.01.2022 On Saturday at Redcliffe, I had not even finished setting up when 2 young ladies spotted the flip chart and stopped to chat. Della and Amy are both 18 years old... and went to a local Catholic school, though they didn’t really consider themselves all that religious. We talked through why God would let us into heaven, and they had no idea but hoped that God would show them mercy. I was able to explain to them what Jesus had done to save sinners like us and challenged them to make sure that they had received his forgiveness. Trevor was a regular church goer before Covid but hadn’t been back since then. He knew that he was in trouble with God because of his sin, and really couldn’t think of any reason that God would let him into heaven. He joked that he hoped that he would have a good lawyer at the judgement (Jesus), but I shared with him that he needed a saviour. I shared about what Jesus had done on the cross and how this would give him a defence of penalty paid rather than not-guilty. There were a few others as well and so please pray for the many wonderful conversations that happened on Saturday.
05.01.2022 Can you explain why we believe the Bible if you were asked? Brother Voddie Baucham gives us a masterclass on how to explain why we believe the Bible. Check it out at the link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch
04.01.2022 Today, Col, Martin and I partnered with a group of Baptists from the Men’s shed in Ipswich to do outreach at the Ipswich show! We brought a heap of tracts and B...ibles with us and had a great day sharing Jesus. Here are just a few quick highlights (of many stories)! 16yo Thomas wandered over to the Bible table while his dad was chatting with Col. He said that he really wanted to read the Bible and that he wanted to learn about Christianity. He said that they went to church a few times but his dad was now pretty agnostic. We talked through how we know God exists and also about why we trust the Bible. He took a Bible with a tract in John’s gospel as a bookmark. Holly and Sharnee are 13yo and have a little bit of Catholic/Christian schooling. They were both pretty clueless but very willing to learn about it all. I shared the gospel with them at great depth and when I explained what Jesus did for us, Sharnee’s eyes grew very wide with astonishment. It seemed that she was deeply impacted by how merciful God had been to die for her sins. They both gladly took tracts and a gospel of John each. Wade is in his mid 40s and says that he has Buddhist leanings. We chatted about the need to figure out the afterlife question and I argued that there is a lot at stake. He agreed and saw that he needed to do some deeper thinking about how we can know what comes next. I challenged him pretty hard on a few points which he seemed to appreciate and then as he had to go, I left him with a tract to read. Hope and Holly are 18yo and not very religious. They were a bit silly about it all at first but as we talked, they eventually took it seriously and Hope confessed that she is completely terrified by the idea of death. We walked through the gospel at great length and it became a great conversation. By the end, both girls exclaimed that they wanted to read the Bible now. Neither had one, so I provided them with a copy of the Bible and used a gospel tract as a bookmark at John’s gospel! Late in the afternoon, 2 men approached the Bible table to chat and though they were both church goers, it quickly seemed that neither knew the gospel. As we talked, 2 young boys asked if they could do the Good Person Test, but there was no one else there to take them through it. I invited the men to do it with them, but before I got off the first page, I had around 15 people gathered around listening and it had become a small open-air meeting! I worked through the gospel using the flip chart and managed to keep most of them for the whole time and even gained a few others! I was able to challenge them pretty hard and all took tracts at the end. It was a fantastic way to finish the afternoon! Col and Martin also had a many chats throughout the day. In particular, Col had a great chat with Diana who had a bit of a Catholic background but was very uncertain of where she would go. After they chatted, she came across to receive a Bible and I was able to also help point her to a local church. I’ll be back there again tomorrow, so please pray that we would have another fruitful time of ministry!
