19.01.2022 Oak Flats today were just doing a hazard reduction at Stanwell Tops and have just been released and now returning to station. We would like to also thank Farmborough Heights Rural Fire Brigade for giving us a hand at the end changing our tyre.

18.01.2022 Oak Flats today had members out participating in a Hazard Reduction assisting Water NSW and State Mitigation. We were tasked to the Bravo Sector of Pipeline Division and working along with Dapto Rural Fire Brigade. It was all great teamwork and effort working along side with them.

15.01.2022 FLOOD WATCH - Catchments likely to be affected include Illawarra Coast, George’s and Woronora Rivers, Southern Sydney In addition to the potential for mo...derate to heavy rainfall and potential for severe storms, a flood watch has also been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for various areas including the Hunter on Thursday, moving towards the south during Friday and Saturday. This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop. Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service. Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy rain is forecast or observed. See http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/flood/floodwatch1.shtml for more information. 15.01.2022 Wishing all members of our Oak Flats Rural Fire Brigade and their families and all members of our very supportive community all the very best for Christmas this year. Thank you for your ongoing support in what has been a challenging year with both bushfire and Covid. A huge thanks also to those who still generously supported St Vincent De Paul Oak Flats even though our Santa Round the Streets had to be cancelled. Have a restful break everyone! Hope Santa is kind to you all !! Merry Christmas from all of us.

15.01.2022 HAZARD REDUCTION | NSW RFS crews from the Illawarra District will be assisting NPWS with a hazard reduction burn in Budderoo NP tomorrow. The burn is approximat...ely 140ha in size and will commence from around 10AM. Cooler conditions tomorrow night may result in a light smoke inversion over southern areas of the Illawarra, as shown in our smoke plume model below. 12.01.2022 On behalf of the Captain of our brigade I regret to officially inform the community that our much loved Santa Round the Streets will sadly not take place this year due to Covid restrictions. We encourage our supportive community members however to please take their donations (in date food items...non perishable...new toys or cash) to our local Oak Flats St Vincent De Paul store in Central Ave Oak Flats (on the roundabout). We thank you all in advance and know you will continue to support the work we do and Vinnies do at this time of year. Grateful to live in such a community spirited community. Keep up the good work and thank you all for your continued amazing support.

11.01.2022 It's that time of the year again

10.01.2022 Members of Oak Flats and Oak Flats Cat 1 were at Fire Rescue NSW Training Centre on Sunday assisting with a combined Village Fire Fighter and Crew Leader assessments for members of various stations around the Illawarra Fire District. Candidates were put through various scenarios including a structure fire, gas fire and a motor vehicle accident.

02.01.2022 Crews from Oak Flats have gone out over the past week to assist with the clean up after the floods. From Kempsey to Sackville in Sydney’s North, we’ve had crews on 12 hour and 72 hour deployments. So sad to see the devastation but rewarding to be able to help people recover.
