22.01.2022 An absolutely wonderfully written post on Laminitis. If you have horses this is definitely a must read post! Spring is here and the weather is improving! Keep an eye on your horses and their pasture.
22.01.2022 A little update on the tanjil south fire from yesterday. Firefighters are slowing the spread of the fire but please do stay aware of all emergency warnings as things can change so very fast in such dry conditions. Sending best wishes to all the people in the fire zones anywhere and I hope all my clients and friends are safe and staying alert. If you have horses in Gippsland have a look at Gippsland horse safe group! It can be hard to stay up to date with things and the more places info is accessible the better!
18.01.2022 Farmers rock! Thankyou to all the farmers out there wherever you’re from, keep up the good work.
16.01.2022 Be safe on the road this spring!
14.01.2022 Keep an eye out for those sneaky end of season abscesses! Here’s one we looked at for Moondarra horsemanship a few days ago! Wet paddocks or dam areas and long toes will be more likely to harbour the bacteria’s that bring on abscesses or even seedy toe in your horses hooves.
12.01.2022 Let’s slow down and think logically about the people in racing, they love there horses and there horses pay there rent and feed there families. They just probably work harder than a lot of people in the equine industry outside of racing.
11.01.2022 Hi all, with spring well underway and those tiny blades of grass full of fructan shooting up everywhere be aware that laminitis is a big issue at this time of the year. As horse owners it’s our responsibility to be proactive about our horses dietary intake and weight, the risks associated with not doing so can result in many kinds of issues. If you think your horse may be prone to laminitis it is important to remember prevention is the best cure. So In saying that something like founder guard from Virbac Australia may be useful in preventing low grade laminitis caused in the hindgut. Please do remember that it is important that if you decide to use this product it needs to be administered at minimum 4 days prior to access to any risky pasture! Check out the link to a post from virbac Australia and like there page!
10.01.2022 With all this wet weather recently don’t forget to keep an eye on your horses feet and try to keep them picked out. There’s been a few abscesses developing over the past few weeks, so remember if they go sore to keep calm and check the temperature of the sore foot/feet, check the digital pulse and contact your farrier or veterinarian.
08.01.2022 Please stay safe in fire zones and always stay up to date with emergency warnings If you haven’t already got the Victorian emergency app for your phone download it and stay up to date.

04.01.2022 You can still save farmers dogs! Here is the latest update from our local hero Cheryl who is still working hard collecting dog food for the farmers so that they... do not need to surrender or put down their beloved working dogs : We are going to try and push some sales into Goondiwindi. So there's a Supplier called NORTH WEST RURAL SUPPLIES GOONDIWINDI all you need to do is call them and say you would like to buy a bag of dog food for the farmers. They will do a transaction over the phone then put it on a pallet with other dog food that has been purchased for the farmers, from there we will work with them to get it to the farmers. What we are trying to do here is push some income towards the local suppliers in these rural towns. North west rural suppliers in Goondiwindi - 07 46711888.
