16.02.2022 We aren't judging, we love cookies too! Just make sure you wash them down with something you don't want any cavity causing bits getting stuck between your teeth!

15.02.2022 Your dentist checking to see that you've kept your new years resolution to see the dentist more.

08.02.2022 Pearly whites are front and centre after a visit to the dentist.

02.02.2022 Taking a second to appreciate those working in healthcare right now. With beds full in most areas, these awesome nurses took time out of their day to serve their local community even more than they currently are. Kudos to you, absolute legends! We've linked the full story in our bio.

25.01.2022 Let's talk about toothpaste for a second. The primary function of toothpaste is to clean and protect your teeth. This is done by dislodging particles of food caught between your teeth so that you don't form any cavities. That's all good, but there are so many different kinds! We'll guide you through the different kinds of toothpaste and what they do in the coming weeks.

24.01.2022 EASING COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS . Great news from the Victorian premier regarding the relaxation of some social distancing rules from last night ( Tuesday 12th May). This follows Prime minister Scott Morrison's announcement last Friday of the 3 step Framework for a COVID safe Australia. You will now be able to go walking, hiking, play golf, and go fishing in a group of up to 10 people, so I'm pretty sure many of you will want to spread your wings a little and take in more of yo...ur favourite activities with friends and family. You will also be allowed to have up to 5 visitors in your home and up to 10 outside, so finally the family BBQ may be able to occur this weekend or maybe even the small dinner party! At Oakleigh Dental Centre, we continue to follow the strict social distancing rules, hand washing and wiping down equipment, chairs and commonly touched surfaces to ensure our practice is well sanitised at all times. We hope that you understand we will always be 100% focused on your safety whilst we work to improve your dental health, take care of your toothaches and clean your teeth to enhance your ability to experience all you enjoy in life. We understand it was difficult during the weeks we were forced to close down and we were able to communicate with some of you during those iso-days and hope we were able to help some of you out. We look forward to seeing you at your next checkup and clean. Please note, whilst we are endeavoring to return to normal, we are still only going to be open reduced hours. At this stage we will only be open Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. As our children return to schools we hope to be able to increase our opening hours until we are back to normal. We thank you for your patience and understanding and we appreciate each and everyone of our lovely patients who have been loyal and patient whilst we chart this new territory during these unprecedented times. If you are due for a dental check up and clean or have been nursing that broken tooth or teeth or waiting to get a new denture or crown, or start some Invisalign or braces treatment, please call us now on 95688142 to make that appointment now! We hope to see you all soon!

23.01.2022 Oakleigh Dental Centre is reopening on Monday 3rd August. We are closely monitoring the situation with community transmission cases of Covid-19 and want to reassure all our patients that we maintain very strict hygiene practices and cleaning procedures in our practice at all times. Please be aware that we will only allow entry into our premises if you wear a mask. We ask you to remain wearing the mask until instructed to remove it by one of our staff. We want EVERYONE to be ...safe. Thank you for your understanding and patience during these trying times. At this stage, we are operating under Level 2 guidelines as recommended by both the Australian Dental Association and the Department of Health and Human Services. We will be doing minimal regular dentistry and deferring major work until restrictions ease. We want to reassure all our orthodontic patients that braces , removable plates and Invisalign treatment is able to continue. Finally, some wise words that I have come across recently that reminds us to stay vigilant with our personal hygiene and physical distancing practices- " the virus doesn't walk- we walk the virus". 19.01.2022 Good news! Both our dentists and hygienists are back! And restrictions have lifted so that we can do all the things we used to do pre-Covid lockdown including fillings, cleans, crowns, extractions, and orthodontics! School holidays are coming up and none of us are going on holidays so please DO come in everyone! We look forward to catching up with all your quarantine news and home schooling mishaps and adventures! If you missed out on your regular check up and clean in March, April or May , do call now on 95688142 to make a time! Helen and Selina, Lisa and Liz are looking forward to a good catch-up!

17.01.2022 Finally, the news we have been waiting for! As of September 28th dentists will be able to provide general dental services (for example examinations, braces, plates, dentures, fillings, root canal treatments, crown and bridgework and extractions) using precautionary measures. Which means we can continue with orthodontics including Invisalign again! Scale and cleans will be able to be provided from October 26th. We will be organising ourselves to reopen and will commence contacting our patients soon to reschedule everyone's appointments. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!

17.01.2022 Dental x-rays might seem complicated, but they're common tools that are just as important as teeth cleaning tools even though they look like robotic arms coming out of the ground. Got a pain in your teeth that you don't quite understand or have the words to describe? Sometimes the best solution is to look underneath the hood. Dental x-rays are like a second set of eyes for dentists; they help us identify problems like cavities, tooth decay and impacted teeth. Do you have a pain you can't quite shake off? Let us take a look under the hood.

16.01.2022 Oakleigh Dental Centre has always maintained very high levels of infection control with plastic barriers on almost every surface in the dental surgery. We are frequently wiping down our hard surfaces with disinfectant and virucidal wipes and always have. ODC has been able to maintain our levels of masks and gloves, despite the shortage and can safely continue to remain operational for at least 2 months without running out. To protect both our staff and the wellbeing of our pa...tients, we have introduced a number of policies which commence with a request for anyone who is feeling unwell, feverish, has a cough or has recently traveled or returned from a trip overseas or else been in close contact with someone who has to refrain from entering our premises. We have provided hand sanitizer at our reception desk and in each of our surgeries for both staff and patients. We ask you to use this as soon as you enter our building. We have separated our waiting room chairs to allow for minimal patient to patient contact and we have staggered our appointment times to prevent large numbers of patients from gathering in our waiting areas. If you should prefer, you are welcome to call us on your cell phones and Wait in your vehicles nearby until we call you in for your appointment. We hope for your understanding in these trying times and remember that your safety is our priority. Please email us at : [email protected] or text 0488854525 if you have any queries. See more

16.01.2022 Just letting everyone know that Oakleigh Dental Centre is still open for business and continue to serve our patients especially those with emergency needs like toothache, broken teeth and pain. Please note that we will continue to strongly enforce our Coronavirus Policy on hygiene, social distancing and screening protocols. As such, we will ask that if you have recently returned from overseas, been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, are feelin...g unwell, have cold like symptoms or are running a fever to refrain from coming in. We ask everyone who enters to make use of the hand sanitizer we provide at our front desk or in each of our surgeries. We are doing our best to space apart our appointments and our patients in the waiting areas and minimise inter- patient contact. This is an uncertain time for all of us and no one can predict what lies ahead. Remember that we are all in this together and that we are here to help you if we can. See more

16.01.2022 Please, oh please don't tell me you eat snacks after brushing your teeth.

15.01.2022 It is with much regret and sadness that Oakleigh Dental Centre will have to close doors temporarily due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Melbourne. Most of these cases are community transmission cases and unfortunately most of the carriers are assymtommatic and unknowingly transmitting the disease. With the introduction of government mandated Level 3 stay at home orders and the recommendation from our professional body the Australian Dental Association that suggests ...that we reduce the use of aerosols in our dental surgery, Oakleigh Dental Centre feels that in the interim we will close our doors for the next 2 weeks. We will reassess the situation as I am certain all of you will, because we want to give the best dentistry that we can for our patients and still be able to ensure the safety of both ourselves and our patients. The health of our patients, staff, families and our community are of utmost importance to us. By closing our practice during this unprecedented time, we are doing our part to help reduce the spread of the virus, flatten the curve and help minimize the burden on our medical emergency facilities. As you can imagine this was not an easy decision, and we know that some of you are facing similar dilemmas in your lives. Should you have a dental emergency please feel free to contact us by text on 0488 854 525 or email : [email protected]. We shall do our very best to help you if we can with advice or direct you to the nearest service providing emergency dental treatment. Please note too that the Royal Dental Hospital located at 720 Swanston Street , Carlton will be open for emergency dental treatment and can be reached by calling: 9341-1000. We would like to thank you for your continued support and for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. We will contact you once we reopen. Our thoughts, prayers and good wishes are with you and your loved ones. Sincerely Dr Selina Soh Dr Helen Spanos Ms Lisa Nguyen Ms Liz Xu Kala, Alli, Adriana, Olivia, Charlene, Junko and Jess

12.01.2022 Good, better, best. A good dentist cleans your teeth. A better dentist cleans your teeth every six months. The best dentist sends you a reminder and also cleans your teeth every six months. Be wise. Choose Oakleigh Dental.

11.01.2022 Just letting everyone know that our telephone line has been temporarily disconnected whilst we have been connected to the NBN. They said it would be seamless...... sigh.... Please accept our apologies. If you would like to make an appointment please contact us via text on 0488854525 or email us on [email protected] or use the Healthengine app or via our booking platform from our website www.oakleighdental.com.au

10.01.2022 Oakleigh Dental Centre is pleased to be able to report that the government has lifted the Level 3 Dental restrictions and lowered the restrictions to Level 2 which enables us to reopen during this Covid-19 Health Crisis. We are still limited in what we can do but we are happy to report that there are some treatments we can do. If you have a toothache, a broken tooth, or an emergency do give us a call on 95688142 , text us on 0488854525 or email us on [email protected]

09.01.2022 We'll say it again, but this time a little bit louder for those at the back.

09.01.2022 It is with much regret that Oakleigh Dental Centre will be closed from Wednesday 5th August 2020 due to the introduction of Government mandated Stage 4 stay at home restrictions in Melbourne. Our professional body the ADAVB and the Dental Board of Victoria have also recommended thar all dental practices move to Stage 3 restrictions which means that routine dental treatment including orthodontics be put on hold. The well being and health of all our patients, staff and their f...amilies is of paramount importance to us and the increasing rise of asymptomatic community transmission cases is alarming. At this stage, we expect to be reopening on Monday 14th September after restrictions are lifted but we will keep all our patients informed. Please check our website and Facebook page for the latest information. Should you have a dental emergency , please do not hesitate to contact us by texting (webchat) 0488 854 525 or emailing us at: [email protected]. We will do our best to advise you if we can. Alternatively you may try the Emergency Department at Monash Medical Centre which is located at 246 Clayton Road, Clayton 3168. We hope you all stay safe and well.

07.01.2022 As with most Victorians, we all waited with anticipation to hear our Premier Dan Andrew's roadmap out of Stage 4 Lockdown restrictions on Sunday 6th September. I am certain most people are a little disappointed yet not surprised to hear that the cases of positive Covid 19 in Melbourne has not reduced as quickly as we were all hoping. I am sad to say that we will be extending our closure in line with these Lockdown measures. Directions from the DHSS and the ADAVB have reiterated that only urgent, emergency dentistry is to be practised and that everything remains status quo. We will be available to triage via our webchat facility and via email and assist with advice where we can. Please do not hesitate to contact us by texting 0488 854 525 or emailing us at: [email protected]. Stay SAFE everyone, stay HOME, and stay WELL.

05.01.2022 To all our patients and their families, It is with much regret and sadness that Oakleigh Dental Centre will have to close it's doors temporarily due to the introduction of government mandated Level 3 restrictions. By closing our practice during this unprecedented time, we are doing our part to help reduce the spread of the virus, flatten the curve and help minimize the burden on our medical emergency facilities. 04.01.2022 Have you ever heard the saying: ''too much good is bad?'' In the same way that too many cooks in the kitchen can spoil the broth, excessive brushing can damage your teeth. Generally, we recommend brushing twice a day. Over-brushing your teeth leads to dental abrasion, tooth sensitivity and gum recession. Avoid brushing too much, floss regularly and keep those pearly whites in good knick!

03.01.2022 Just letting everyone know that at this stage despite Melbourne suburbs going into lock down again - this does NOT AFFECT dentistry at Oakleigh Dental Centre. We are STILL open for all our lovely patients and able to see you for all your dental needs including fillings, cleans and orthodontics- just as usual. We only ask that if you are feeling AT ALL UNWELL, have any respiratory signs or symptoms; have been in contact with some one who is being tested or experiencing symptom...s or are awaiting Covid -19 test results yourself ; that you DO NOT COME IN. Please give us a call and we will reschedule you for another time. We also ask our patients to kindly wait in their cars until we call them into the surgery. Once more, this is to assist in social distancing and keeping the numbers of bodies on our premises down to a minimum. Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation during these testing times. 01.01.2022 We're not sure if the team is more excited for the weekend or are just keen to show off their smiles. Whichever it is, all that matters is there's one more day until Friday. Have a great day, everyone!
