25.01.2022 Our annual Book Fair is currently happening at Oak on South. We have a great variety of books and part of all sales goes towards books for the service. You can find the book fair in the Parents Retreat, just follow the arrows.

24.01.2022 Benefits of attending kindergarten Research shows that quality play-based learning is a powerful way to support childrens learning and development. The benefits last into the school years and beyond. Did you know that we provide a quality kindergarten program aimed at children the year before they attend formal school. We offer care from 6:00am to 6:00pm with the Kindergarten program hrs running from 8:00-4:30 Monday to Friday. Taking part in a quality kindergarten program at an earlier age leads to positive effects on child development. It has even greater benefits for children who need extra support or are in vulnerable circumstances. Want to find out more? Come and visit the service and take a tour and meet the staff.

24.01.2022 Take a look Within the Nursery room, the educators intentionally design spaces for play-based learning that extend upon childrens fine and gross motor abilities in alignment with appropriate developmental milestones. Currently the children within the room are employing the use of the resources to extend on personal developments, including fine motor grasping, gross motor lifting, crawling, and climbing, alongside hand-eye coordination and recognition (i.e. colour recognition, recognition of self, and recognition of others).

23.01.2022 What an amazing week we have celebrated this week with Book week - Curious Creatures & Wild Minds. The children and educators alike have all enjoyed dressing up throughout the entire week, bringing in and sharing their favourite books with their friends and educators.

22.01.2022 So excited to see the Kindy children's bean project from beginning to end. The children were involved in the life cycle of the bean from beginning to end. They were delighted to see them grow and picked them to eat for morning tea.

14.01.2022 This week we look to place the spotlight on National Child Protection Week, with the theme. "Putting children first". NAPCAN - Play Your Part invite all Australians to look at how they can prioritise children in their lives and communities and to engage in National Child Protection Week as individuals, and as part of families, organisations, communities and society. Putting children first means prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things like food, shelter and healthcare. #childrights #childprotection

13.01.2022 Today in the Nursery room, the children were invited to engage in a intentionally designed programmed activity to commence the beginning of National Reconciliation Week. Within this, the children were encouraged to support and celebrate the national reconciliation links. The educators provided the children with a drop sheet paper than the children were encouraged to walk over with painted feet. The practice symbolised the land on which the children walk in recognition of the traditional owners. The practice further encouraged childrens use of continuing gross motor development in alignment with childrens developmental milestones.

07.01.2022 Today in kindy we went camping! The children have been talking about and planning our camp out for a week. We ate marshmallows in front of our camp fire, told scary stories, pitched our tents and played in our sleeping bags. We tracked animals using Aboriginal tracking cards and listened to the different animal sounds in our surroundings. It was such a great experience and we will all sleep well tonight.

01.01.2022 The Oakvale kindy children hosted a Zoom meeting today with the children from Story House Windsor in Brisbane. The agenda was "Chickens." Windsor is re homing their chickens and Oakvale has been chosen to be their new home. The children asked many questions about the chickens and are now eagerly waiting their arrival later in the week.
