25.01.2022 Ugh. Just created a new event for the up and coming resumption of our CDPA Clinics and it wouldn’t publish and then wouldn’t copy the text changes, and then locked me out altogether. So it will now have to wait until I get onto the laptop later tonight. So standby! It’s coming.

25.01.2022 LOVE the diagrams and the explanation.

24.01.2022 P J Hartigan (John O'Brien) - Australian Bush Poetry Said Hanrahan PJ Hartigan by John O'Brien... "We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan in accents most forlorn, Outside the church, ere Mass began one frosty Sunday morn. The congregation stood about coat-collars to the ears, And talked of stock, and crops, and drought as it had done for years. "It's looking crook," said Daniel Croke; "Bedad, it's cruke, me lad, For never since the banks went broke has seasons been so bad." "It's dry, all right," said young O'Neil, with which astute remark He squatted down upon his heel and chewed a piece of bark. And so around the chorus ran, "It's keepin' dry, no doubt." "We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan, "Before the year is out." "The crops are done; ye'll have your work to save one bag of grain; From here way out to Back-o'-Bourke they're singin' out for rain. "They're singin' out for rain," he said, "And all the tanks are dry." The congregation scratched its head, and gazed around the sky. "There won't be grass, in any case, enough to feed an ass; There's not a blade on Casey's place as I came down to Mass." "If rain don't come this month," said Dan, and cleared his throat to speak - "We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan, "If rain don't come this week." A heavy silence seemed to steal on all at this remark; And each man squatted on his heel, and chewed a piece of bark. "We want an inch of rain, we do, "O'Neil observed at last; But Croke "maintained" we wanted two, to put the danger past. "If we don't get three inches, man, or four to break this drought, We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan, "Before the year is out." In God's good time down came the rain; and all the afternoon On iron roof and window-pane it drummed a homely tune. And through the night it pattered still, and lightsome, gladsome elves On dripping spout and window-sill kept talking to themselves. It pelted, pelted all day long, a-singing at its work, Till every heart took up the song way out to Back-o'-Bourke. And every creek a banker ran, and dams filled overtop; "We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan, "If this rain doesn't stop." And stop it did, in God's good time; and spring came in to fold A mantle o'er the hills sublime of green and pink and gold. And days went by on dancing feet, with harvest-hopes immense, And laughing eyes beheld the wheat nid-nodding o'er the fence. And, oh, the smiles on every face, as happy lad and lass Through grass knee-deep on Casey's place went riding down to Mass. While round the church in clothes genteel discoursed the men of mark, And each man squatted on his heel, and chewed his piece of bark. "There'll be bush-fires for sure, me man, there will, without a doubt; We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan, "Before the year is out."

24.01.2022 So the clinic will be proceeding with some adjustments due to the Victorian lock down. Friday and Sunday will be 45 minute lessons with Louise via Zoom. Each ...rider will have a direct audio link to Lou and auditors will be able to hear both Lou and the rider. We trialled this today and I was very happy with the input. Not the same as live and in person but during these unprecedented times it’s definitely a reasonable substitute. At this stage Saturday’s lessons will be conducted by yours truly, and I’m happy to do ridden or in hand sessions. Auditors are welcome and will be able to ask Lou questions during or between lessons just as we do in life. Feel free to message me with any queries or for more information.

24.01.2022 Clinic goals Louise?

23.01.2022 Holmes and Caelie share a paddock, until she is in season at which time Holmes is banished for the safety of all concerned. Frustration is a mare unfulfilled. Today Holmes came out of isolation. No 1.5m distance observed here!!

22.01.2022 Well today brings another phase of lock down with Borders closing between NSW and Victoria tomorrow night. At this stage we aren’t cancelling the January clinic in the hope that things relax in time for Louise to be able to travel up AND be allowed home again without spending two weeks in a hotel under quarantine. Please watch the page and event for updates.

22.01.2022 Shearing time at the zoo. They have a stable which they use for shelter so even if it’s cold over the next month they’ll be fine. #shaunchronicles #shirleythesheep #shearing #sheepshearing #onlytwoandnomoresheep

22.01.2022 Well two years ago was our inaugural CDPA Clinic! We should have been celebrating that milestone and all of the progress, improvements and changes with another clinic over the Easter long weekend but due to COVID-19 our April clinic was cancelled. Ill certainly be letting everyone know when we are able to hold the next one!

22.01.2022 I have one ridden position left open for our next clinic. The opportunity is there to have either three or four days as I have coerced Louise into staying for an extra day . The fourth lesson on Monday is optional. Please see the event for details or feel free to send me a PM.

21.01.2022 There have been studies done to back up the figures he quotes, and it can be a very beneficial tool that I thought some of my clients and friends on FB may want to utilise at the moment.

21.01.2022 A huge thank you to our students and Agistees for another successful year at Oakover. As is nearly always the case when owning horses, there have been challenges met along the way but it's a joy to work with you all and we look forward to 2020 in your company. We would also like to thank everyone for supporting the CDPA clinics this year with my coach Louise van Gaal of Dressage on the Beam and Brokeford Holsteiner Warmblood Stud. I take great pleasure in seeing the adva...nces you have made throughout the year. Louise and I very much look forward to seeing you in January/February as we all continue on this journey with our horses which can be incredibly challenging, frustrating AND rewarding! Oakover will remain open throughout the holidays so feel free to get in touch about a ridden or #inhand lesson or #Emmett4Horses. I would also like to thank my tireless husband for his support as none of this would be possible without him and my mum Jan Jeffery for her fruit cakes and Pavlova at each clinic. Stay safe over the holidays and enjoy your time with friends and loved ones.

21.01.2022 Another challenging and successful clinic and once again very fortunate with the weather. Thanks to all of the girls who picked up the camera when I wasn't there to do so! Great job ladies. Feel free to finish tagging the photos girls, I've run out of time and wanted to get them up.

21.01.2022 When your ride is going really well... until she gets a fly down her ear! The flies are horrendous at the moment. Very odd (a bit like the current world situation) and driving everyone crazy. #oakoverlodge #classicaldressage #dressagecoach #stayathome #staysafe #dynamictrainingcoach

20.01.2022 When you get a notice to collect a parcel and know you havent ordered anything.... and receive a beautiful box of goodies from a special person with a lovely note of thanks. We have such a great bunch of people who start as clients and soon become friends. Thank you Chelly and Buddy, John and I will be sure to enjoy our treats!

19.01.2022 ....one of the reasons I undertook training in this wonderful therapy, so I can help horse and rider to achieve harmony. PM or text me to book a session for YOUR horse!

18.01.2022 Thanks to all our regular ladies who make each clinic an amazing get together of like minded and encouraging riders. Despite many of us not being able to work our steeds as we would have liked due to fires/smoke/dust and then rain!!!! everyone worked brilliantly - quite a few real breakthroughs, and plenty to work on between now and the April clinic. Also a huge thanks to everyone who picked up the camera when I couldn't and apologies for no photos on Friday, we had a camera malfunction. Although possibly just as well with the new exercise we started on Friday... discombobulation abounded. :D Thanks again to Louise van Gaal from Dressage on the Beam and Brokeford Holsteiners whose knowledge, endless good humour and witty retorts keep us enthused and improving from one clinic to the next.

17.01.2022 This applies to so many walks of life, but it seems that the emotional connection to our horses may exacerbate the rippling effect to a degree. Tania is an excellent mind set coach and her ethos is very similar to my own when it comes to horse and rider welfare. Not just biomechanics but the whole kit and caboodle, body and soul.

16.01.2022 Ruby is a 7 year old Warmblood mare who has a talent for show jumping. She’s recently been purchased by one of my clients and is now discovering the world of dressage, the ultimate aim being she will be stronger and more balanced in the jumping arena. Today she was feeling some of those changes in muscles and fascia that probably haven’t had so much use in the past! Learning how to move in a more functional manner to promote soundness in the long term will take the time... it takes, but her owner is an advocate of regular body work to keep her balanced and comfortable. In this photo she’s getting some Emmett Therapy on her scapula (shoulder) and relaxing into the moment . I think Ruby likes sleeping on the job!!! Did you know that Emmett Therapy has particular points we can work on to help if your horse is dropping a foreleg over jumps, or not straight? I’m available to help train you and your horse, and provide regular Emmett Therapy to straighten out those kinks and keep everyone happy! #emmett4animals #emmett4horses #emmetttherapy #dressage #showjumping #riderbiomechanics #dressageinhand #dressageinstructor #oakoverlodge

16.01.2022 Yesterday in hand SI, travers, halfpass and first attempts at half steps, preceded by her being expressive . Today she nailed half pass right , left is coming along. We might leave half steps for a little while yet. #classicaldressage #dynamiccoaching #inhand #balance #straightnesstraining #oakoverlodge #dressagecoach #horsesofinstagram

16.01.2022 A little brisk this morning, followed by a sensational day! How was the last day of autumn for you? #agistment #coaching #dressage #horsesofinstagram #oakoverlodge #frosty #frostymorning #sunshine #autumndays

16.01.2022 Most of my students know how much I value working a horse in hand. Most have seen the changes it can bring to horses in rehab or to those who have had trauma as well as in the development of happy, healthy riding horses. And Im sure that most have seen how you can transition that work in hand to their work under saddle. Longeing is part of the journey to improve vertical and longitudinal straightness but theres so much more to it than endless circles! Theres a link in th...e comments to an article about working horses in hand that you may find interesting. And if youd like to know more about how you can develop a closer bond with your horse through in hand work, drop me a message and we can start the journey. #classicaldressage #inhand #groundwork #straightness #dressage #coaching #shoulderin #travers #rehab #OakoverLodge #training #confidence #horsehumanbond #improveyourriding

16.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who has sent condolences on the loss of my mum two weeks ago. Your kind thoughts and comments have been much appreciated. My love of horses came from mum....my grandfather.....and my great grandfather who was a blacksmith who worked on the big draught horses. My foundations came from mum and I will be forever grateful. As of next week I will be getting back into routine, and lessons and Emmett therapy sessions will be available again. I look forward to catching up with everyone soon. Please send me a text or PM to book. Mum and I circa 1991.

15.01.2022 I shared this four years ago. I think it’s worth repeating.

14.01.2022 https://facebook.com/events/2479873845580633/?ti=icl Due to horse injury we have had one riding position become available, please PM me if youd like to take advantage of this opportunity. These clinics generally fill very quickly.

14.01.2022 Well I’m not currently in Tennessee, but I hope to get there when the insanity settles down. Looking forward to expanding my knowledge base further and passing that on to my students. A very intensive course that I hope to complete within six months, followed by an exam and a video submission amongst other things. ...

13.01.2022 I still have one riding position open for this clinic due to horse injury.

13.01.2022 The November clinic was a complete success despite the wind, and not one horse spooked BECAUSE of the wind. :) Sorry if we missed you or there weren't many of you! Not all of our usual photographers were available this time so it was a bit more hit and miss than usual.

13.01.2022 Batch 5 May CDPA Clinic.... more to come ladies - watch this space! #ClassicalDressage #CDPA #oakoverlodge #dressagecoaching #dressageinwinter #horsesofinstagram #dressageonthebeam #dressageoninstagram #dressagecoaching

13.01.2022 This is what we dealt with the each year with Mike until we found the Silver Whinny Sox For Horses. Brilliant product for both mud fever/greasy heel and injuries and then there’s using sox for compression while boxed or confined and as a prophylactic covering if you’re away and not sure how clean the stables are. Always in my first aid kit.

12.01.2022 With the escalation of COVID-19 and the necessary restrictions in place we are cancelling the April CDPA Clinic. I hope you are all staying safe at this trying, and frankly worrying, time. Try to find some pleasure in the little things. The roses were spectacular this morning. Or the big things like our horses - grooming is so therapeutic even if you dont ride. See you on the other side.

11.01.2022 When your almost three year old is pretty much the same size as your 16.2 and a bit mare and significantly taller already than his older full siblings. I think I’ll be needing a step ladder. #andalusianhorse #andalusianxthoroughbred #dressagehorsesofinstagram #oakoverlodge #classicaldressage #coach

11.01.2022 Open the gullet, POLL highest. Close.

11.01.2022 Spring has Sprung at Oakover. Two nests in the feed room and both fledged today. Moved these two cuties and their nest mates (who were blending in to the floor mat so nicely it took me a while to find them) into the empty stable so hopefully they’ll be safer until their flying skills improve! The other nest held three Shrike Thrush and their dad and I had quite regular conversations. Those babies had already made their way into our garden shrubbery. I hope all of the sprin...g hatchlings thrive! Lots of slashing and mowing taking place with unprecedented grass growth for this time of year. The paddocks look fantastic even if girth lines are expanding...and Holmes BMD is also growing at a rate of knots, almost 16.2 at just three years old. Just as well we have a good mounting platform here, I’m going to need it! #spring #welcomeswallows #shrikethrush #birdsofinstagram #agistment #oakoverlodge #dressagehorse #andalusian #classicaldressage #dressagecoach

11.01.2022 More words of enlightenment from Louise who will be here coaching from 21-23rd February at our next CDPA clinic. Would you like more information? Send me a PM.

10.01.2022 Not riding weather today but what a beautiful way to finish it.

10.01.2022 Arena groomed (horse is next!) choc chip biscuits baked, coffee pot ready to perc! Bring on the first CDPA clinic for 2021, albeit with the coach instructing via Zoom. Greatly looking forward to seeing all of our girls tomorrow. #classicaldressage #CDPAClinic #dressageonthebeam #dressage #oakoverlodge #coach #horsesofinstagram

09.01.2022 Does your horse have hooves with nice wide heels and, a well developed frog and juicy supportive digital cushion like this one? Ive attached a link in the comments below to a great article with superb photos of dissected hooves for comparison showing a foot like this one, another with not so good digital cushion and one with contracted heels and virtually no digital cushion to support the structure. Please add a photo in the comments of your horses healthy hooves or those under rehab.

09.01.2022 Goulburn Recreation area (Showgrounds) now open as an evacuation point for those impacted by fires. See notice below.

07.01.2022 Shearing time at the zoo. They have a stable which they use for shelter so even if its cold over the next month theyll be fine. #shaunchronicles #shirleythesheep #shearing #sheepshearing #onlytwoandnomoresheep

07.01.2022 All organised for the next CDPA clinic starting tomorrow at 8.00am. It might be blowing a gale at the moment but the weekend is set to be great riding weather. Choc chip biscuits done fruit cake in the offing, Lous meals almost sorted. Tea and really good percolated coffee all set to brew. Auditors welcome - please see the FB event for details and fees. #CDPA #classicaldressage #Dressageonthebeam #equestrian #riding #dressagecoach #oakoverlodge #oakover #agistment #clinics #shortstay #dressagecoachofinstagram #riderbiomechanics #horsebiomechanics #emmetttherapist

06.01.2022 Fascia. Definition Fascia: A flat band of tissue below the skin that covers underlying tissues and separates different layers of tissue. Fascia also encloses muscles. A Fascinating part of anatomy and it has a huge impact on health, wellbeing, form and function. Can fascial restrictions cause pain? What are nociceptors? Are they different to mechanoreceptors? I will add a link in the comments to a blog post by a chiropractor based in the USA who has a wealth of information... in his blog on Fascia, links to research and case studies. Even a skim over the information helps to expand our knowledge base. Enjoy.

03.01.2022 My day today.... Very relevant at the moment with huge claims from fires and also the recent hail storm in the ACT. If you have household insurance please read and do some checking.

03.01.2022 Zoned out during an #emmett4horses treatment. Caelie had some work done specifically for cycling mares to help release tension in the fascia over the ovaries. Think it helped? . Im still able to provide coaching and Emmett treatments while maintaining social distancing and taking appropriate precautions. Feel free to message me for more information or to make a booking. #Emmett #emmetttherapist #fascialrelease #musclerelease #oakoverlodge #classicaldressage #dressage #straightnesstraining #balancedhorse #healthyhorse

02.01.2022 Countdown is on for our CDPA Clinic next weekend. This is the clinic we deferred for several weeks due to the smoke and heat. Many of the participants wont have had much riding time since the last clinic for the same reasons, but what a great way to get back in the saddle and back on track. Now we have had beautiful rain to settle the dust, top up the tanks, fill the dam and replenish the underground aquifer that waters our stock. A very slight green tinge can be seen as w...e gaze across the paddocks. Very grateful Auditing is welcome and absolutely encouraged if you would like to see how much combinations improve over three days. Louise is very down to earth and explains in such a way that its clear for both the rider and spectators. Details and fees are on the event page but feel free to contact me for further information.

02.01.2022 Batch 6 May CDPA Clinic.... Final lot. Phew! #ClassicalDressage #CDPA #oakoverlodge #dressagecoaching #dressageinwinter #horsesofinstagram #dressageonthebeam #dressageoninstagram #dressagecoaching

02.01.2022 Would you like to take advantage of my current lesson pricing before an increase from 1st January? Ridden, in hand, or R+ basics? Focus on biomechanics, your connection with your horse, and rider position? I’m working right through Xmas-New Year so don’t hesitate to take advantage if you’ve got time off work or school! Send me a PM and we can set some dates even into January and February if booked and paid for prior to EOB 31/12/20!... #internationalsocietyofriderbiomechanics #dressage #dressagetraining #ridersofinstagram #horsesofinstagram #inhand #straightnesstraining #balance #rythym #softness #connection #ridinglesson #dynamics #classicalriding #classicalequitation #classicaldressage #oakoverlodge See more
