25.01.2022 As digital times keep changing, it becomes more difficult for seniors to learn to use new tech on their own. 24.01.2022 Australians love their furry friends. Whether you have dog, cat or bird, the family pet is a huge part of our lives. Research has shown that caring for a pet can actually improve the health and well being for older adults. Perhaps one of the most fascinating evidence of health benefits from pet ownership was revealed in a 1980 study of heart disease patients. After months spent examining these patients and recording details of their lives and lifestyles, it was concluded tha...t "the presence of a pet was the strongest social predictor of survival - not just for lonely or depressed people, but for everyone." Even social support and marital status had less of an effect on longevity. At Oak Tree, we understand and know how important pets are to our residents and how much more enjoyment you’ll get out of your lifestyle with your pet by your side. Our pet friendly villages all cater for resident pets. Your decision to live in an Oak Tree village won’t mean you have to leave your feline friend or canine companion behind. #bbf #petsofoaktree

17.01.2022 Along with the physical changes that occur as we get older, so does the change in our sleep patterns. As people age they tend to find it harder to fall asleep and have more trouble staying asleep than what they experienced when they were younger. So what are some of the things you can do to ensure you are getting a good night’s sleep? Read our article to find out more. https://www.oaktreegroup.com.au//how-to-get-a-better-night

14.01.2022 You know what they say about timing: It’s everything. That’s especially true about retirement. Clearly, there’s a lot that goes into deciding your optimal retirement date and sometimes your emotional readiness can be more of an obstacle to retirement than your finances. How do you know if you're ready to retire?... National Seniors has developed an online Readiness Program to assess your preparedness for retirement. It includes 35 questions that measure your physical, financial, social, emotional, cognitive and motivational resources and provides practical recommendations for areas of development. 11.01.2022 Tulip Festival in the Southern Highlands was cancelled but no-one told the Tulips ! We also had soooo many visitors from Sydney drive the 3 hour round trip to see the spectacular floral display. We at Oaktree Retirement Village only need to drive 5mins to see the Leighton Gardens display and barely 15mins to Bowral. Walking to Leighton Gardens is also an option or taking a stroll around the suburbs is so delightful as most keen gardeners have their own garden displays for us all to enjoy.

Shared joy to all of us here. I am so blessed to be the Manager in this lovely community. Thank you Rose
