17.01.2022 You may have seen individuals or groups at the park moving in a slow, harmonised routine. They are practicing the ancient martial art of tai chi, low-impact movements focused on improving strength and mobility, making it an ideal workout for older people. 13.01.2022 Another book review by another one of our avid readers...Thank you Hadyn. Books by Australian Author Bill Marsh may not appeal to a lot of Australian Readers. Bill was widely travelled in his younger days. However, he returned to Australia and settled in Adelaide. He has visited most Australian States, gathering stories about the outback and remote Australia. Some of these stories have been published and included in the title Great Australian Remote Area Nurse... Royal Flying Doctor Railway Stories Bush Funeral Stories C.W.A Stories Outback Trucking Stories Outback Towns and Pubs Outback Teaching Stories Outback School Stories Outback Police Stories Amazing Grace: Priests, Pastors, Preachers Droving Shearing These are stories from these publications that could have you in tears and some that would have you laughing. Sadly, some stores published in the final days of what has been an Australian Icon Droving.
12.01.2022 Leo and Rosemary are two of our delightful residents that call Oak Tree Baker Street their home. Leo says between playing cards, Men's BBQs and morning teas there is plenty to do. Rosemary is a keen painter and loves the yoga sessions. A few fun facts about Leo and Rosemary - Favorite place to travel - Alaska First car - for Leo it was a Bedford Utility (3rd hand )... How many years married - 64 years in January...wow! What would they say is the key to their 64 years together - "My wife has the best husband in Qld!" Leo says with a grin. "Seriously though - Family means everything to us and there is always give and take. What do you love about living at Oak Tree? Manager is easy to get on with (Thank you Leo ), the safety and security of living in a village and the people who run the village make life easier. 10.01.2022 What does your week look like... Here at our Baker Street Village we have a very busy social calendar. Residents have the use of the bowling green, pool and community centre at their disposal. The weekly activity calendar consists of activities like bowls, pool, yoga, meditation, cards, bingo, morning teas, Mahjong and Happy Hour as well as our Social Committee activities. There is something for everyone's taste and always someone to meet up with and get to know.
08.01.2022 Our Social Club did a fabulous job planning, decorating and catering for the Melbourne Cup this year. I was great to see so many residents involved and having fun socializing together.
07.01.2022 Just could not resist taking this snap... I love it. Monday morning Bowls...sitting back....reflecting? strategizing? or waiting on a woman? One might say they are patient...patiently waiting for the game to begin and the friendly competition and fun that goes with it. Just one activity here at our Baker Street village that our residents love to play.
07.01.2022 Reading is such a wonderful past time, no matter what your taste in books. We have some avid readers amongst our residents here at our village and our library is very well read. This book review is shared by Ineke who is one resident who loves to read. Author Liz Byrski A Month of Sundays For over ten years, Ros, Adele, Judy and Simone have been in an online book club, but they have never met face to face. Until now...... Determined to enjoy her imminent retirement, Adele has invited her fellow bibliophiles to help her house-sit in the Blue Mountains. It's a tantalizing opportunity to spend a month really getting to know each other, walking in the fresh air, napping by the fire and, of course, reading and talking about books. But these aren't just any books: each member has been asked to choose a book which will teach the others more about her. And with each woman facing a crossroads in her life, it turns out there's a lot for them to learn, not just about their fellow book-clubbers, but about themselves. I so loved this book. It is beautifully written. I recognize parts of myself as well as other women I know. Written with wit and affection, and by turns turbulent and tender. Her characters are portrayed as warm, funny, awesome women trying to deal with the cards destiny has dealt them. A definite feel good book. I highly recommend it.
