05.02.2022 Congrats to our QLD team on a job well done! This may just be the biggest above knee socket in Australia! (we're claiming it )
31.01.2022 Surfs Up! Lachlan is a keen surfer and wanted a water leg that would enable him to be able to pop up smoothly and seamlessly on his board a prosthetic foot can often get in the way, so we decided on a custom made peg foot! This ‘old technology’ has proven to be the best option for Lachlan he says he has never had as much balance and manoeuvrability as he does now with this set up. He will be able to easily change between this peg and his RUSH foot (not pictured) when not on his board. Can’t wait to see the leg in action!
25.01.2022 It was all fun and games with a favourite patients of ours in Brisbane recently! This shiny material is now all wrapped for Kiarras brand new legs!
25.01.2022 This week our Bendigo clinic (first facility in Australia!) were trained in the Ossur direct socket manufacturing technique. This technique sees the socket manufactured directly onto a patients stump and after just 1 hour curing time, the patient can start walking on their socket! Our first 3 patients and prosthetists have been delighted with the outcome of the excellent fit, patient comfort, and function this technique produces. This will greatly enhance treatment for inpatients and for rural and remote clients who travel long distances, you’ll be able to leave the facility with your finished prosthesis on the same day
24.01.2022 Cheers to the weekend! There is a big smile behind Mohamed's mask! This week we were finally able to fit Mohamed with his new myoelectric prosthesis + Taska Hand in Flemington. Thanks to James and the TASKA Prosthetics team as always (pics in comments)
24.01.2022 A new waterproof and everyday leg for our Flemington patient this week! This particular design is known as an exoskeletal prosthesis. As opposed to an endoskeletal design (usually with a central pylon), the outer shell of an exoskeletal prosthesis performs the weight-bearing function for the user The everyday leg is also a well overdue upgrade from her 8 year old leg!

18.01.2022 Another thigh lacer for a patient of ours in Bendigo! The leather corset in this leg helps to distribute the weight and suspension over the entire thigh and reduce weight taken through the stump. This particular prosthesis also has an Exoskeletal lower section to make the limb more robust whilst maintaining the shape of the leg!
17.01.2022 Andrew looking flash with his new leg in Perth this week!
17.01.2022 When an old design still has its purpose! These are for a patient of ours in Melbourne who has very short residual limbs. The thigh-lacer design helps with overall knee control and reduces the pressure placed on the limbs. For a life-like appearance we completed these with Fillauer Dreamskin

11.01.2022 Check out this extra personal socket design for a patient of ours in Sydney! Our patient had her grandchildren draw pictures on some white material to put on her new socket. Courtesy of the clever work of our technical team, we were able to maximise picture placement and avoid colour bleeding which can often happen with crayon and texta drawings

11.01.2022 Meet Glen! We’ve been working closely with Glen over the past couple of years at our in-service clinic in Shepparton. After experiencing his first amputation in January 2019, and then a second amputation in March this year, this is the first time Glen has been able to literally 'get back on the horse'! As a bilateral amputee, Glen said that Nothing’s changed! Felt normal being back in the saddle, and felt even better having my Aunty Lorraine, my sister Lynn and daughter M...yah there cheering me on! It is always such a rewarding moment as a prosthetist to see your patients return to doing the things they love most #happyfriday
11.01.2022 Thinking outside the box at our Royal Melbourne Hospital Clinic this week! We regularly see patients after trauma accidents who have had skin grafts that must remain untouched to heal after surgery. For this patient, we have a modified a BRAFO (Bed Rest Ankle Foot Orthosis) with a custom made suspension system to sit over the knee. This design will keep his Achilles stretched without putting pressure on the multiple skin grafts from ankle reconstruction surgery resulting in a much more comfortable and happy patient!

08.01.2022 Recently we saw a patient in Clayton that was born with a chest wall deformity known as Pectus carinatum a case we dont treat too often! This occurs when there is overgrowth of the cartilage between the sternum and ribs and results in the middle of the chest protruding. Our patient will wear this orthosis over the coming months to help correct the shape of his chest - stay tuned as we follow his progress!
08.01.2022 Another custom OWLS Wound Healing #Orthosis fitted in our Frankston clinic recently (now moved to Carrum Downs!)
