17.01.2022 As NAIDOC week comes to an end it's important to remember the elderly in our indigenous community. Communication is the essence of all relationships and closing the gap between Indigenous elders and health care professionals is a must.

16.01.2022 Phone scammers often target the elderly as easy prey. If a salesperson won't speak to a person on someone else's behalf you should question why not. If you need help with medical or enduring power of attorney we offer that as part of our service. https://www.agedcareguide.com.au//protecting-the-vulnerabl

16.01.2022 Feelings of guilt when placing a parent or loved one into a residential facility can be one of the hardest things to overcome. However these feelings are natural and can be reduced. Many people feel like they are locking their parents away. Try and remember when and why you all first considered the move. Is your loved one unable to look after themselves anymore? Are they struggling with their day to day chores? Are they leaving the gas on? Or getting paranoid about intruders... in the house? Remember when they first considered moving into a residential home, it was most likely because they could no longer safely and comfortably look after themselves. You are not locking your loved one away from the world, you can visit them as often as you like and you can still do the same activities with them. It just means when you are not there they are still safe and being cared for. See more

14.01.2022 This is great, let's change the stereotype about computer illiterate older people. Good on you Mrs Johnson

13.01.2022 This is a great article describing the necessity of planning for aged care.

13.01.2022 Tonight 4corners investigates the sometimes extreme cost of retirement villages. The future of aged care in Australia is geared toward trying to keep people in their own homes and this is just one of the many good reasons why. Always have contracts and financial agreements checked over by your lawyer or financial advisor. http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/stories/2017//22/4689969.htm

03.01.2022 Do you know someone who needs an ACAT assessment? These assessments are used to determine the level of care required and are necessary to enter into any home care package agreement or aged care facility. Here's an outline of what each level involves. https://agedcare.health.gov.au//acat_guidance_framework_fo
