24.01.2022 Isn’t it beautiful watching our children and grandchildren grow in their own gifts and personalities.
22.01.2022 Faith isn't figuring out what we're able to do, it's deciding what we're going to do - even when we think we can't.
21.01.2022 Learn the truth of who you are

18.01.2022 Let’s start and finish our day with gratitude - we have so much to be thankful for.
17.01.2022 I can’t tell you how much I loved the conversation with Priya Parker on the #UnlockingUs podcast this week. We talked about her book, "The Art of Gathering" and... our team is still quoting her! This is a tough Thanksgiving for many of us. I desperately miss my parents. After talking to Priya about the importance of purpose and structure when we gather people, I decided to make our small gathering tomorrow more purposeful. We’re going to connect in a new way, including doing a little collective crafting to remind my parents how much we love them. It will be trial and error - for sure. It might even be a disaster. But I’m taking Priya’s advice and, setting a bold, sharp purpose for our time together. Plus we have tamales and shrimp campechana - so we'll survive. You can listen to our conversation (including deconstructing my1994-honky-tonk-BBQ-super-fun wedding) here: https://bit.ly/2J0Lvg8

16.01.2022 *****URGENT WARNING***** Please note: This content may be distressing. There is a video streaming across TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter of a live sui...cide. The social platforms have indicated they are working to have this video removed and moderated. However, it is spreading and appearing across all platforms and under many seemingly unrelated hashtags. It has been hidden in other, totally unrelated videos. The video/image is of a 33 year old man with a beard, sitting at a desk. Should the image/video appear in you or your son's scrolling/social media use today, the College strongly encourages you to scroll past, do not watch, and to advise your children do the same. If possible, changing settings to stop auto playing videos, would be advisable. This would be extremely distressing for anyone to view, especially for a young person or child. 11.01.2022 We all have our moments when we falter, fumble, or fail. I definitely have. But the good news is that our failures are not final. Our ideas of failing or suc...ceeding are often built on false assumptions about the ultimate goal of our Christian race. The goal is actually not so much about what we accomplish for God, but that we are in the process of becoming more like him. While we are not perfect (only Jesus is perfect!), we persevere through failure. And we are called to press on building our humility and reliance on him. I really have it on my heart to encourage you to get back up today. It’s not over. For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again. -Proverbs 24:16
11.01.2022 We are all going to make mistakes and mess up. Numerous studies have show that how we deal with mistakes can affect our mental health, resilience, and cognitive... flexibility. If you are regretting a mistake try this: 1) acknowledge how you feel. Don’t suppress and don’t judge yourself. Learn to sit with your emotions. This will help you train your brain to recognize the mental and physical warning signals that something needs to be addressed so you can take care of it before it really does damage. 2)question your thoughts and feelings. Remember thoughts are not facts. What assumptions are you making? What’s is a fact? Why are you regretting a mistake so much? Is this helpful? How have you dealt with past mistakes? 3) write down your thinking and responses. This will bring clarity and order, and will often help make you feel a little better! 4)recheck what you just wrote and go deeper with your analysis. What patterns do you notice? Triggers? What would you say to someone if they came to you with the same issue? What can you learn so you don’t make the same mistake? How can you reconceptualize the situation? 5)put a plan in place with actionable steps. What will you do next time? What are you going to do moving forward? Also, forgive yourself and be kind to yourself. Mistakes are part of life and great opportunities to grow and learn! **For more tips and strategies on how to deal with issues that may be messing up your mental health register for my virtual mental health summit (tickets on sale now- get $30 off!): https://www.drleafconference.com

06.01.2022 thesocialdilemma.com I don't normally watch movies like this but it was incredibly eye opening. It is not a conspiracy theory movie, but well presented facts on... social media and how it is being used to target us as individuals and effectively brainwash us. One interesting point was for every article of truth on Facebook there are SIX fake articles, and the more of them you click on, the more they show up and effectively make you believe that what you're reading is real. It's no wonder the antivax / flat earth / Chem trail conspiracy theories have gained so much traction. People click "information" on Facebook that they saw from a "well informed friend" and all of a sudden they're being presented with more articles relating to that thing, working as a confirmation bias and slowly convincing them that they are actually reading the facts and that theyve been lied to by 99% of the professionals of that field, truly believing that the 1% who say otherwise must be telling the truth... Anyway give it a watch. It will really make you reconsider how and why you use social media and if it is even necessary.
