08.01.2022 Its International Grenache Day, Friday 20 October and were celebrating with our Signature Series G-18 from McLaren Vale, a triple gold medallist that Matthew ...Jukes notes (Robert Oatley) takes this red grape and gives it a makeover, dry cleaning its suit, ironing its shirt, shining its dusty boots, cutting, shaving and steaming its grinning phizog and then presenting us with a red wine which often looks like an irascible cave man in the wrong hands but in fact is a modern maestro. There is so much flavour and fun to be had with this wine and its red cherry theme is amazing. It just happens to be a bargain too. This Spanish origin grape delivers an effusive, juicy wine that drinks well with a light chill, just beware, it will have you reaching for a second bottle before you can say "ol"! #grenache #grenacheday2019

04.01.2022 Grenache is the Bomb! Its official grenache is the latest hit red grape variety everybody is talking about it and more importantly everybody is drinking i...t. Theres a real trend toward bright and chirpy reds a natural progression from rose and pinot noir. Robert Oatley has been working with grenache since 2013 with the GSM blend (which the family pioneered in their earlier Rosemount Estate days) and since 2017 have produced a 100% grenache Joven-style version that is really hitting the mark. The three vintages to date have collected an impressive three trophies, three gold, four silver, multiple Top 100 listings and numerous 90+ point scores from the critics. McLaren Vale (and the Barossa) are the natural home for grenache South Australia has the countrys largest plantings. While grenache itself goes by many monikers, it is nevertheless an easy-drinking red wine varietal with gentle tannin and balanced body. It also makes a versatile wine; able to be consumed as a single varietal style or blended with other grapes, such as shiraz and mourvedre. When enjoying grenache, its spice-scented flavour profile is this varietals most identifiable characteristic. Expect candied fruit, touches of cinnamon; aromas are raspberry, orange rind and even tobacco. We recommend enjoying ours lightly chilled ten minutes in an ice bucket, thirty minutes in the fridge or remove from the chiller thirty minutes prior to serving.
