20.01.2022 Yesterday the NSW Centre for Volunteering presented the Volunteer of the Year Awards for the Central West in a ceremony via Zoom. Bev Cooney, one of the most active volunteers at The Neighbourhood Centre, was named as both Senior Volunteer of the Year and the overall NSW Volunteer of the Year for the Central West. She set up the DCaf Dementia Cafe and is also responsible for running the Bathurst's Biggest Cover-up (our Face Masks program) and many other volunteer activities.... We give a big thank you to Bev for all your hard work and dedication, and also to all our amazing volunteers. They are fundamental for so many important activities around the Central West. 04.01.2022 We have had the honour of receiving the Central West Volunteer Team of the Year Award for our volunteer Bev Cooney and DCaf (Dementia Cafe). DCaf provides social engagement and connectedness, friendships, information, and advice as well as physical activity, brain and memory games, stress relief, support and education. The program offers immediate assistance to a group of clients and their loved ones that would not otherwise exist and as a result have been hugely impactful on the quality of life for each participant. And this amazing project only exists due to the effort of our incredible team of volunteers, that, besides Bev, also include Kaye Grant, Holly Davenport, Michael Byrne, Judith McClintock.
