21.01.2022 ALERT: Since early December 2016, WIRES has been receiving reports of Rainbow Lorikeets being found dead in large numbers. The birds show no physical signs of t...rauma or disease. Reports have continued to come in throughout January and the birds are now being found from suburbs in North West Sydney down to Illawarra. There is a similar situation currently happening in Queensland which may be linked. WIRES is working with other organisations to investigate this matter. At this stage, it is not believed to be a result of human activity. If you see multiple dead lorikeets in one area, please take photos and make note of the exact location and send the details to [email protected]. Please DO NOT post or message the details via facebook as we need to collate all the information in a single place.

10.01.2022 URGENT HELP PLEASE SHARE Dear Wombatty lovers. We need your help! We want to create a new future for all Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats and we can't do this w...ithout you x Tonight, we are launching something BIG and we need you to join us. We’ve decided to take a stand. We have exhausted ourselves, we of just two volunteers have tried our little hearts out to help every wombat but the truth is, we simply can't. The problems are so big, and there is too much land to cover. So we are putting our hearts on the line to ask for your help. We drive out to remote regions to feed the starving wombats and see other wombats have been buried alive and slaughtered. It is a distressing situation and we are desperate to change it. There are so many alternatives we want to provide a free service to every land holder that would normally resort to killing wombats on their properties. They get no support from elsewhere but here we are, desperate and able to help only there is not enough time in the day. I live in despair We’ve come up with a solution. We’re launching our Wombat Warrior Club (WWC) a club dedicated to saving more wombats. A club which will help get people on the ground working in the communities, developing solutions for land owners and offering alternatives to culling. A club which will help provide onsite assistance to wombats in remote indigenous communities. And a club which will help secure safe habitat for Southern Hairy-nosed wombats and their care. We just can’t stand to see what is happening to our wombats. We want to stop wombats from becoming extinct (scientists have predicted this by 2070!). We need to do something now! We need to stop the suffering! We know we can make a difference but we need your help. You can change a species future by kindly donating just $5 a week, that's $20 per month to be part of the exclusive club. It’s just one cup of coffee each week but it will go towards such a good cause. We receive no government funding and have decided that enough is enough. We have to act. It’s a big mission I know but we and the wombats are at your mercy. We have tried absolutely everything but need more solid, consistent and trained people on the ground to build bridges and save lives. It’s something we can do together, to make a stand, to change the future and wellbeing of our wombats forever. We want to give wombats a better life, one that is free from suffering and persecution. To achieve this, we need 4,000 big hearted Wombat Warriors to help us on our mission. You will also be exclusively invited to join our Wombat Warrior Club (WWC) new Facebook page where we will share more behind the scenes footage of our work than ever before. More videos, more pictures.Just search for the group once you have joined our club. $20 help us put an expert in the field to save a wombat. It’s just $5 a week, the cost of one cup of coffee but the best money you will spend and you won’t regret it one bit. You will be helping to save more wombats and you will feel amazing. Can you help make our dream become reality? Can you answer the cries for help from our wombats. Their time of need is now. I look forward to welcoming you into our club. Please donate here: https://wombat-awareness-organisation-sa-inc.giveeasy.org/w
