20.01.2022 It is rainy and cold here this morning, but I am walking on sunshine!! My work "The Watcher" has been accepted into Sculpture In the Valley!! Arghhhh! Ive been dreaming of this for over a year now! I knew they were announcing the finalists yesterday and I was anxiously checking my emails, checking the website, checking emails, checking the website... Nothing, all day! It turns out that it went to my junk folder Im so excited for this, as it is my very first completely "sculpture" competition! Also, any excuse to head down to the beautiful Kangaroo Valley is a good one Have a wonderful day friends!

17.01.2022 These little cuties are finished in my favourite shino glaze. These tiny tea cups could also double as little serving dishes. It has been scientifically proven that food tastes better when served in/on handmade ceramics ;-) Ok well, it may not be science, but it is definitely good for the soul

12.01.2022 I really love old things. Old things tell so many stories of where they have been and the hands that have touched them. Pottery is especially great for this. I love the idea that humans have been crafting vessels from the earth for millennia and that this craft is still alive today. Many of you may not know this, but I actually studied Egyptology at university for a couple of years before I decided that art was calling to me. Originally I was drawn in by the more obvious thin...gs like the pyramids and all of their stories steeped in myth and magic. Over time though, I grew an appreciation for their pottery! All of the different shapes and finishes and the sheer beauty of these objects that still exist thousands of years after their creation. It is such a wondrous thought that an object so fragile and beautiful could possibly outlive us all. This pot is neither ancient, nor from Egypt, yet for me it still invokes a feeling of appreciation for the past. An intermingling of an ancient tradition with the present moment, like the hands of our ancestors reaching through time to meet my own, on the clay from the earth that we both have stood. . . . . . . #pottery #ceramic #artisanpottery #tradition #ritual #earth #ceramicmagazine #instagood #artistsoninstagram #design #pots #reminiscing #makersgonnamake #dreamersgonnadream #makersmovement #centralcoastnsw #visitnsw See more

02.01.2022 Throw back Thursday to this piece I created while I was in art school! "The Birth of Thought" was one of the first ceramic sculptures I created. My teachers were so worried about how it would go in the kiln, yet it survived perfectly! I actually wasnt happy with the surface finish at the time, being new to world of glazing and such. A couple of years later I decided to give it a once over with some metallic spray paint and shazam! This baby had a whole new life . . . .... . . . #tbt #throwbackthursday #sculpture #ceramicsculpture #contemporaryceramicsculpture #abstract #abstractart #abstractsculpture #organicform #totem #human #senses #art #follow #artlovers #artistsoninstagram #artist #sculptureoftheday See more
