25.01.2022 Very interesting

23.01.2022 Came across this and figured I would share. These are called "Bay leaves" Many people add bay leaves to foods especially jollof rice (Nigerian), red meat and p...oultry but do you know why bay leaves are added to food? When asked why, some reply: to add flavor to the food Do you know that If you boil some bay leaves in a glass of water and taste it, it will have no flavor? Now why do you put bay leaves in the meat? The addition of bay leaves to meat converts triglycerides to monounsaturated fats, and for experimentation and confirmation: Cut the chicken in half and cook each half in a pan and place on one bay leaf, and the other without bay leaf and observe the amount of fat in both pans. If you have bay leaves, there is no need for a pharmacy. Recent scientific studies have shown that bay leaves have many benefits & helps to get rid of many serious health problems and illnesses. The benefits of bay leaf are: - *Bay leaf treats digestive disorders and helps eliminate lumps, Heartburn, Acidity & Constipation. *It helps regulate bowel movement by drinking hot bay tea. *It lowers blood sugar and bay leaf is also an antioxidant *It allows the body to produce insulin by eating it or drinking bay tea for a month. *IT eliminates bad cholesterol and relieves the body of triglycerides. *It's very useful in treating colds, flu and severe cough as it is a rich source of vitamin "C", you can boil the leaves and inhale steam to get rid of phlegm and reduce the severity of cough. *Bay leaf protects the heart from seizures and strokes as it contains cardiovascular protective compounds. *It's rich in acids such as caffeic acid, quercetin, eigonol and bartolinide, substances that prevent the formation of cancer cells in the body. *It eliminates insomnia and anxiety, if taken before bed, helps you relax and sleep peacefully. Drinking a cup of boiled bay leaves twice a day breaks kidney stones and cures infections ... Just like garlic and ginger are a must find amongst my collection of spices, Bay leaves are a must see in my collection of spices too(my little spice secrets to good aroma and flavor)

22.01.2022 Great to be back in the clinic, working with this amazing ability

21.01.2022 One of the areas humans in general really suck at is releasing emotional trauma from our systems. There are two quite distinct versions of trauma, the one off ...event that dramatically changes your life eg a car accident, bad surgery, war trauma, sexual assault. Or the other version is constant pressure that never goes away, things like bullying, sexual harassment, domestic abuse. Both of these forms of trauma leave you feeling unsafe within yourself and expecting the worst from other people. One of the important areas when working with trauma is to release the body. When the nervous system is stuck in a trauma pattern the messenging from the body to the brain can be constantly stimulating the stress response. The lack of safety within yourself makes your system look for threats even if you are in a safe environment. anxiety, panic attacks and hyper vigilance (being constantly on edge expecting to be attacked) can all be signs that this is what is happening. This also affects sleep, which effects your ability to regulate your emotions and will often lead to self medicating with your drug of choice. Alcohol, dope, shopping, food, chocolate, Netflix, computer games can all be used to try and distract yourself from the underlying sense of threat. Of course not every time you feel like chocloate or to watch a movie is in response to trauma, but if you are using something to distract you from resisted emotions then there maybe something you need to unwind. In Ortho-Bionomy we work with the relationship between resisted emotions and the physical body in a number of ways. As all the techniques used in Ortho-Bionomy are designed to stimulate the nervous system, and the nervous system is sensitive, no force or pain is needed to create change. This means the parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated, this is part of the autonomic nervous system that controls relaxation and digestion. So during the hour long session, where you remain clothed, your body learns to relax and starts to feel safe. There are some other techniques that stimuate an oxytocin release in the body. Oxytocin is a neurotransmitter that is involved in many different processes including when we feel loved, and forming attachment to others. One area that oxytocin is produced is the hyperthalamus in the brain, from the hyperthalamus the oxytocin is deposited in the pituitary. The pituitary governs the balance between the stress response (sympathetic) and the rest/digest response (parasympathetic). So oxytocin can act as a reset for your stress response. You may notice that if you get a long hug (20 seconds) when you are stressed you will start to relax more deeply this is the effect of the oxytocin on your stress response. The other place where the oxytocin is released is the amygdala. The amygdala creates the fear response. So by being able to stimulate an ongoing oxytocin release in a supported and safe environment we can help the nervous system reset itself. Once this occurs the tension within the system decreases and therefore the need to drink etc disappears. If you are working on unwinding trauma, Ortho-Bionomy can be a great way to help your body release the trauma pattern. This can be done inconjuction with working with a psychologist or councelor or as a stand alone form of therapy. For more information get in touch via PM

09.01.2022 This says it all really - we know that for change to occur it has to make sense to us. When we feel as though someone is listening to us and gets us then that c...hange is able to occur - sometimes quite effortlessly, other times with a great deal of intent. But it's the clarity from knowing how to listen that drives the intent. Movement and Change is Medicine!

08.01.2022 I just loved this! As our bodies evolve they teach us a lot about the ways of our mind.....if we listen Interestingly all I noticed, before I read the words, was that lovely crop of tomatoes in her garden. Priorities, hey

07.01.2022 Here is a little self-care that may give relief if you find yourself sitting for longer periods of time. Long periods of sitting can cause tension in the lower ...back area. Sometimes sciatic pain can develop as tight muscles place pressure on the sciatic nerve. This may be localised around the tailbone, or "travel" down one leg. Many people will try stretching to "force" the muscles to relax and release the nerve. In Ortho-Bionomy we don't use force. Try these gentle self-care movements to release the tension and reduce discomfort. Move very slowly, and only as far as is easy and comfortable. In 1. and 2. you will likely find you are comfortably able to go a little further each time. Please click on the image to fully open. See more
