24.01.2022 How do I care down there? Despite the abundance of feminine hygiene products, most vulva hygiene involves the use of simply water. For vulva itch and pain, using scented wipes will often worse the skin condition. https://www.birdsofparadise.clinic//faq-how-do-i-care-down... #women #birdsofparadise #birdsofparadisewomenshealthclinic #vagina #vulva #femininewash #hygiene #pain #cairns

21.01.2022 As we watch what is happening in Victoria, it is important to continue to be safe. It may be that we could all be back at risk again here in Cairns in the future. This interesting graph helps explain risk and activities

21.01.2022 In the next couple of weeks, before this school holidays and the opening of the state borders, it is a great time to get out and about in Far North Queensland. We recommend downloading the covid safe app, keep social distancing when out and washing your hands. Unfortunately, covid may return to Cairns, or other places, as we start to enjoy freedom of movement again. It may be a bit more unpredictable than the first wave over the coming months too. But in the first instance, the next couple of weeks is a great time to support local businesses and enjoy the Far North. Stay safe! Dr Elizabeth Jackson

19.01.2022 For a Friday laugh... we have never seen this before!

16.01.2022 At the Birds of Paradise Clinic, we are COVID-ready and have made changes to our clinics to reduce contact risk for our staff, health care providers and patients. From 1 April - 30 September 2020, Dr Elizabeth Jackson and Dr Anusha Lazzari will extend our antenatal clinics for women planning for delivery publicly at the Cairns Hospital who wish to be seen in our private rooms in pregnancy. If you wish to deliver privately, this can be arranged also. Please note, Dr Jackson an...d Dr Lazzari offer delivery only at the Cairns Private Hospital. The Cairns Private Hospital offers self-funded package for delivery if you are non-insured. 14.01.2022 We are delighted to return to our Towers Nest where we will see our obstetric patients. Due to a larger waiting room, your partner is welcome to attend your appointment. We are unfortunately unable to allow children into the clinic at this time due to strict social distancing rules continuing to apply. We will continue to see our fertility and gynaecology patients in our "Plaza Nest". Please call the rooms on 4041 5081 for further details.

11.01.2022 For a little Friday laugh, this is a baby in Vietnam holding his mum's IUD. Here are some Friday IUD in pregnacy fun facts * Despite the picture, babies are not born holding IUDs as they are inside the membranes with the IUD on outside. Usually it is attached to the placenta at delivery * If you fall pregnant with an IUD in, we attempt to remove it in the first trimester to reduce miscarriage risk. ... * We retrieve IUDs in pregnancy as soon as possible before the strings disappear with the gravid uterus enlarging * the IUD in this picture is a Copper IUD * IUD are a great contraceptive... but nothing is 100%. A copper IUD is slightly less effective than a Mirena IUD (copper T ~99.5%, Mirena ~99.9% in first year of use). * if you have an IUD and suspect you are pregnant, do a home pregnancy test and seek medical advice ASAP if you have a positive result See more

09.01.2022 These are yesterday's national covid numbers. Best wishes to Victoria coming out of lockdown and hopefully no further uptick in cases.

07.01.2022 We are excited to be returning to out "Towers Nest" for our obstetric patients as of tomorrow! We will still continue social distancing in our waiting areas, but given the larger wait rooms in our obstetric offices, partners may accompany you to obstetric appointments (only). Please note, children (except under 6 weeks of age) are unfortunately not permitted in either The Plaza or The Towers rooms at this time due to the need for strict social distancing. Cairns Private still permits one support person throughout your hospital stay from delivery to discharge, with all children again unfortunately not permitted to visit at this time. Please call our rooms on 4041 5081 for any advice.

03.01.2022 One of the numbers to keep an eye on for local Covid prediction is if the Queensland health weekly influenza rates start to increase. Reassuringly they continue to remain low. Let's see what happens in the next 2 weeks with our southern visitors having returned in droves. Keep social distancing and practising hand hygiene
