08.01.2022 A scammer called me the other day claiming they were from the ATO. It was an Australian women called Cheryl. Cheryl knew my name and the details (or so I thought) of the company she was calling about. Luckily I speak to the ATO regularly and knew the verification questions I was being asked were not the ATO standard. I said I would call her back on the main ATO number and after excuses and protest she agreed and guess what, she wasnt from the ATO and there was no issue with my clients file. Scammers arent always coming for you with scary threats. It can be as simple as a system glitch. And they are just wanting to confirm bank/credit card details. If you are unsure or even if your not. Hang up and call them back. All calls are logged on you file and will be seen when you call back.
