24.01.2022 Welcome back to the FINAL SCHOOL TERM of 2020!! The gorgeous creations you can see here were created by our hardworking Kindy kids who attended our Prep Readiness group over the holidays We are super excited to get stuck into this term! We can do this!

22.01.2022 SELF REGULATION PROGRAM! We're bringing back a group from several years ago that we loved! Its focus is SELF REGULATION but with a fun twist... Day 3 is held at a trampoline park where the children can practise their newly learnt skills and strategies! We can't wait!

22.01.2022 BOOK RECOMMENDATION! "The Red Beast" is a fun way to talk about anger. It provides useful tips and guidance about how to ‘tame the red beast’ and calm down when feeling upset or angry!



21.01.2022 Krav Maga is an Israeli Defence Tactical System. Warrior Cubs is a company in Ipswich that teaches children and adults empowering self-defence. What is really cool, is that the owner also teachers adaptive Krav Maga and can accommodate children of all abilities! She also does sessions over zoom too! Look at one of our clients, Marcellus doing a session over zoom in his wheelchair!

20.01.2022 ONLINE SUPPLIER RECOMMENDATION! Check out My Diffability! It's an online supplier of therapy equipment, toys and resources for people with different abilities, and is an NDIS Provider! It provides resources and special needs toys for children, adolescents and adults, including those with issues and differences in areas like speech, communication, sensory processing, social skills and gross and fine motor skills.

17.01.2022 We introduced a new holiday group last week at OCC Therapy - the Art Afternoon A small group of children worked with our wonderful OTs Lydia and Michaela for the afternoon and got creative! The children first worked on developing a group plan about the tasks to complete and the order in which they would occur They drew a plan for the construction project and spoke about the materials available and how to think about these creatively Everyone explored the park outside to gather natural materials to add to their projects and finally spent time building them!

It focuses on the skills required for the Prep environment including turn taking, listening and following instructions, following the group plan, and participating in tabletop activities. 12.01.2022 COVID Updates! As we approach our 3 day lock down in Brisbane, we want to assure all of clients that we're still here if you need us! On Monday we will be offering telehealth sessions in place of home visiting, and continuing to offer all Clinic based individual therapy (with extra safety precautions in place). Our holidays programs that were due to start on Monday have been altered slightly: ... 11.01.2022 Introducing... BRYONY! Bryony has worked with families and children for many years in different positions within private practice. Before studying Occupational Therapy, her first degree was a Bachelor of Health Science. Bryony received The Elaine B Wilson Memorial Award in 2019 in recognition of her work as an OT with children and their families Bryony loves to travel and has lived in Africa and the United Kingdom , and sometimes her accent can tend to change like a chameleon! Many of Bryony’s friends would describe her as having ‘a fear of missing out’ as she likes be busy and enjoys socialising.

09.01.2022 ACTIVITY IDEA! Word searches are great for working on a variety of skills, plus they’re fun too! They can help develop fine motor, visual perception and visual motor integration, and executive functioning skills, whilst also integrating other learning opportunities by completing word searches on new or interesting topics.

08.01.2022 Our SELF REGULATION holiday program was a great success this week! The program consisted of two clinic sessions, followed by a visit to Bounce on the third day. The kids were able to put their freshly learnt skills into practice! Check out this video not only showing off the kids and their trampoline skills but a couple of our very enthusiastic OTs!

08.01.2022 Introducing... MADDY! Maddy is incredibly creative and believes that OT presents a particularly interesting combination of academic knowledge and creativity, which allows for interventions that can be developed around a child’s interests and can lead to incredibly rewarding outcomes. Maddy loves plants and gardening , and enjoys learning new skills such as languages and DIY ideas. She enjoys playing board games with friends for a relaxed night in!

05.01.2022 Do you use VISUAL SCHEDULES at home? If your child is having trouble getting ready in the morning or having trouble completing their chores, a visual schedule may help them remember what tasks they need to complete. There are lots of creative ways that your child might be able to tick off the tasks.

03.01.2022 We visited Lone Pine Koala Santuary over the holidays! We love providing opportunities for children to practice their skills for accessing the community, and where better to visit than the local koala sanctuary?! Our therapists Bryony and Jemma offered this group twice during the first week of the school holidays, which means twice the amount of koalas and fun! The children practised many community skills including using public transport, ensuring safe and responsible choices, purchasing tickets and food, whilst socialising with new friends!
