23.01.2022 MONDAY MOTIVATION ! Never fear the impossible

23.01.2022 We are a small business but did you know that we have over 1000 workers busily working behind the scenes helping to #RestoreOurEarth? As much as we like to #RecyclePaper at our office, we still end up with A LOT of shredded paper from confidential medical records and therapy worksheets with children's names on them. Enter Occumax''s #WormFarm, #worms and #chickens at our practice owners home, where small scale #RegenerativeAgriculture is practiced. Shredded paper is fed to t...he worms along with household scraps. Worm castings and worm juice are then used as fertiliser for Occumax's indoor plants. Shredded paper is also used in the chook nesting boxes to create a soft nest to lay #eggs and raise chicks. The paper is also used in their pen as deep litter to absorb moisture from their droppings and keep the pen smell free. Every few months, this deep litter is transfered to either the #CompostBin or under the citrus trees. Natalie always says that she "has the best lime tree in Australia" and trades limes for other fruit and veggies the #Sarina home grown produce swap and trade group at the #ThirdGroundCafe or brought into the office for clients and team members to share. So next time you are wondering what happens with the piece of paper that your child wrote their name on during #OccupationalTherapy handwriting practice, this is where it goes! Happy #EarthDay2021

22.01.2022 When the school holidays gets crazy which do you do first?? A) Play a board game with your kids. B) Run a bath and shut the bathroom door to grab 20 minutes of quiet me time. C) Put on some classic hits from the 80s 90s, and 00s, and show the kids how to really dance by jumping off the couch playing air guitar.

20.01.2022 PSYCHOLOGY AVAILABLE AGAIN AT OCCUMAX We are very pleased to announce that we will have a Psychologist starting in the next week or so! We are just waiting for her final worker screening checks to come through and then we can give you a start date. It will be a service with a difference because she actually lives in Perth! She will see children under our Occumax Virtual service. This is great for QLD kids because with the time difference, it means she can offer more ...after school appointments . If you would like more information or would like to put your child's name down to see her, please message our page or contact our office on 07 4818 0445 or email [email protected] .

19.01.2022 Congratulations to All Abilities Mackay Inc. on the grand opening of #SummerHouseMackay today. It is so exciting to see your dream become a reality and we felt very privilaged to share this special day with you. Bec Nicol and all the volunteers and sponsors who have worked so tirelessly to get Summer House Mackay off the ground have done an amazing job. 12.01.2022 We are on the down hill run now for the unit 4 fit out at Occumax. Carpet was laid on the stairs on the public holiday by @TheCarpetHouseFloorzone . Damien was very pleased with how they came up. Damien and his offsides, Brent from Paradise Yard Maintenance have done an amazing job enclosing the stairwell and the hand rail has come up with a shine that is as good as a good automotive paint job. Damien is very pleased that he doesn't have to transfer out of his wheelchair and bottom shuffle up the stairs to do any more plastering or painting. Here are some before and after shots to remind you of what it looked like before they started working.

11.01.2022 Autistic Girls & Teens Mental Health & Safety Conference coming up. https://ylbmentalhealth.vfairs.com/

10.01.2022 Yes, we are still open! We are here for you, in person and online. We strongly recommend that where possible, our clients transition to virtual therapy sessions to minimise the risk of exposure to COVID-19. We know that for various reasons, virtual therapy isn't suitable for everyone. We are still allowed to offer home visits and clinic based sessions were Telepractice isn't possible. We can also do phone consultions too. PS: We have been getting some really great feedback from families who thought virtual therapy would not work for their child but they found that their child engaged and participated really well online. PSS: if you would like to switch your therapy sessions over to virtual just give us a call on 4818 0445 or email [email protected]

If you have had trouble getting through or we have not called you back, please email [email protected] or reply to your appointment confirmation sms. We are sorry for the inconvenience and frustration caused.
