20.01.2022 What should you expect during your first osteo appointment at OGOSH? Prior to your first appointment, you will be emailed a link to our new patient form. If you aren't able to complete the online form, we would recommend you arrive 5-10 minutes early to get all the paperwork done. During the appointment your osteopath will ask questions about your problem and symptoms. They may ask about your health history (regarding previous injuries or illnesses), any medications you are t...aking, as well as factors that may not appear to be directly related to your problem. If your health condition changes between osteopathic consultations, be sure to tell your osteopath at your next consultation. Your osteopath will conduct a full osteopathic assessment involving clinical tests. This may involve diagnostic, orthopaedic or neurological tests, postural assessments, movement and functional assessments. Some assessments involve the osteopath observing you while you perform an activity or sequence of movements. Assessments may also include passive and active movements - where the osteopath manually lifts your arms or legs or applies resistance while you perform a stretch or movement. Osteopathy takes a holistic approach to treatment, so your practitioner may look at other parts of your body, as well as the area that is troubling you. For example, if you have a sore knee, your osteopath may also look at your ankle, pelvis and back. Your osteopath may also provide education and advice to help you manage your condition between appointments. This may include giving you exercises to do at home or at work. We can’t wait to meet you at your initial appointment! Book via the link in our bio or contact our friendly team on 5255 5040 (OG) or 4202 0446 (L) to discuss how our osteos can help you achieve your health goals!

From next Wednesday 11th November, Ewan will be available on Wednesday mornings at our Ocean Grove clinic, Thursday afternoons at Leopold and alternating Saturdays between the two clinics. Ewan hails from the North West of Melbourne and studied Osteopathy at Victoria University, completing a Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science) and Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy). He feels that this compliments his Osteopathic degree, believing that an active lifestyle is vital to improved quality of life. After graduating Ewan was fortunate enough to work with athletes on the Ladies Professional Golf Tour (LPGA). Ewan approaches treatment typically with a combination of manual therapy, exercise prescription and education. He has undertaken further studies in biomechanics, breathing mechanics and dry needling to add to his knowledge base. Ewan has participated in a wide variety of sports since early childhood, playing hockey, cricket and football. His experience with exercise helps him understand the importance of enjoying what you are doing to ensure you continue to remain active. Ewan has been a frequent visitor of the Bellarine Peninsula, having family in Barwon Heads and friends all around the coast. These days you’ll find you on the golf course every chance he gets, when he’s not hanging with his friends or hiking around this great country. Welcome to the OGOSH team Ewan!
