23.01.2022 Clinic is virtually open and boosting your immune - https://mailchi.mp/0067e6426209/october2019-1463649

21.01.2022 Wow, what a time were in! Right off the back of the bushfires, hardly any summer to speak of and now we have Covid-19. We are definitely being put to the test by Mother Nature. It is a very valuable reminder that we should not take things for granted and to be grateful for what we have in our lives.... I know that Ive taken my health, my lifestyle and my freedom for granted. Its not until we lose things that we really see their worth and how much they mean to us. I am grateful for my family, for my friends, for social media which has kept us connected, for living away from the big city, and for being made to stop and enjoy home and family life. I am so blessed to have my 2 beautiful daughters; one is 5 and the other nearly 5 months. They were the main reason as to why I decided to close the clinic for acupuncture appointments until further notice. Although the clinic is closed for acupuncture, I am offering phone and online consultations for herbal medicine. These consultations consist of an emailed questionnaire to be filled out by the client, at which time a photo of the clients tongue will need to be provided. After the questionnaire and photo have been returned, well make a booking for a phone consultation at which time I can determine what herbal treatment to prescribe. Chinese herbal medicine is used for strengthening the immune, for colds and flu, pain and circulatory issues, menopause, menstrual irregularities, bowel issues, sleep and emotional problems as well as much more. If you would like more information please contact me on 5255 2905 or via www.ogcm.com.au.

19.01.2022 Firstly I’d like to say thank you to everyone for your patience and support while the clinic has been closed. I had only reopened for about a week after taking maternity leave before having to make to decision to close it again due to COVID-19. This was a hard to decision to make having to weigh up continuing to treat clients vs the potential risks of the virus to myself, my family and my patients. I chose the latter and closed the clinic. I have been very grateful for this ...Continue reading

17.01.2022 A philosophy of Chinese Medicine is that we are in a constant state of change - from our physical and emotional being to our environment. How we adapt and flow with the changes reflects whether we are in a place of peace and joy or whether we are in a state of distress. This article has some wonderful words of wisdom and tips to help us navigate these changing times.

17.01.2022 Remember when your mum used to say put on your shoes and dont walk barefoot on the tiles because youll catch a cold, well there is actually some truth to that. In Chinese Medicine, Winter time corresponds to the Kidneys. And the first point of the Kidney channel starts under the ball of the feet and when cold enters the channel, it can lower our energy and affect our immune function, causing a range of complaints from frequent urination, to sore lower back and knee...s and of course colds and flu. So by simply covering our feet with socks, uggs or whatever else, we can help prevent the cold getting in. Another easy method is to keep the lower back covered when its cold, to keep the kidneys warm. And there is also the back of the neck where the cold can enter, so be sure to keep it covered. Unfortunately we cant always avoid getting ill, so when we feel like we might be on the verge of getting a cold or the flu, this is the time when we need to act to help reduce the length and severity that we do get sick. Bitter and pungent foods Bitter leafy greens like rocket, kale and lemon balm as well as pungent food like onions, garlic, ginger and mint are all great things to be eating. Theyre action is to shake up and disperse, which can help in overcoming any residual coughs and loosen up phlegm. If there is still mucous and phlegm then also cutting back on dairy foods, eggs and bananas will help as these foods can exacerbate the issue. For further assistance, Chinese Medicine with a combination of acupuncture, herbs and cupping, can strengthen our immune and also help alleviate symptoms.

13.01.2022 Building up the immune system with a delicious beef bone broth - courtesy of organic grass-fed bones from Farmers Harvest. In the other pot - all good bases for stews and casseroles start with onion, celery, garlic and carrots. This broth has been simmering for 10 hrs so far. The longer its cooked the better the breakdown of minerals and gelatin which makes it one of the best blood, yin and qi tonics around. Onion, garlic and celery are pungent foods, which means they ca...n disperse any fluid or phlegm in the lungs and help clear them. They are an important food for Autumn which is the season of the lungs and also an important food during this time of viral infections, colds and flu. These foods along with carrots are packed with vitamins and minerals and as well as strengthen the immune system they can also help with any other issues such as inflammation in the body, high blood pressure and high cholesterol

12.01.2022 Clinic Reopening Though the clinic has been reopened since February for one day a week with the wonderful Jenny Layton who has been filling in for me whilst Ive been on maternity leave, I am now returning for 2 half days a week. The appointment times are very limited as I slowly ease my way back into work. Herbal medicine refills are as per usual. Covid-19 (coronavirus)... As the world now deals with the effects of the Covid-19 virus (coronavirus), it is up to all of us to do our best to stay healthy and safe. With this in mind, I am asking that all patients to please use common sense and that if you believe you may have or have been in contact the virus, to please call the clinic before making an appointment. If you have already made an appointment, please call to discuss your options. It is up to everyone to halt the spread of this virus. See more
