19.01.2022 With an increased focus of cyber safety I felt this important to share. Sometimes these things can be untrue, however you never really know... so I guess it’s best to share and let you decide what’s appropriate for your own families. - Copied from a Facebook post today -... All parents... this has just come to my attention and is worth the warning being repeated & shared. Our kids don't need to see this. We have received the following extremely concerning advisory today from the experts at Safe on Social: EXTREME TRIGGER WARNING - SUICIDE LIVE STREAMING ON MAJOR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS **********WARNING********** September 8th 2020 There is a live suicide by shotgun streaming on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tik Tok today . The clip is extremely graphic and has yet to be moderated. We strongly recommend keeping your children offline today if possible, and heavily supervise all social media interactions until this content is removed. Check with your children to determine if they have viewed this clip. They are likely to be extremely distressed. We are also receiving reports that trolls are using videos of puppies and kittens to lure kids into seeing the video. It is also being inserted into videos of kittens on Tik Tok.
17.01.2022 Term 4 school will resume during week one, term 4. As per advice the school will decide the local arrangements and OGPS is working with 3 neighbouring primary schools to have a similar start to the term. By the end of this week we will email all families with the final details once clarity has been obtained from DET. So, good news we will be back together sooner than expected. Thank you everyone in our school community for your patience during this time. Temperature Check...s We will be taking temperatures at all entry points from 8.45am upon return to school, so unless children are attending before school care, they should remain outside the school grounds until staff have checked their temperature! Upon having a temperature check, your child will make their way to near their classrooms and wait for their teachers. Drop Off and Pick Up Start date and details will be communicated to parents by email later this week. Year levels may be met in the same places as last time and collected from there too. Surnames beginning with A-L can arrive from 8:45am Surnames beginning with M-Z can arrive from 8:55am Dismissal times will be similar to last time to spread our student population out.

15.01.2022 Dear families, With one email, we are back!!! Last night at about 6:30pm we received an email with the latest Operations Guide from DET. There are some significant changes to what we have been working and living through that may make some of us relieved, nervous and even excited. With zero cases of COVID for 28 days we are now allowed:... to have families back onsite for drop off and pick up (masks on please) Graduation can occur with restricted numbers (more communication to Year 6 families coming from Andy McNeilly and Fi Dempster soon) Staggered starts and finishes will cease and we expect students back onsite and ready by 9am daily Entry and exit from any gates Excursions can occur Camps can have multiple schools onsite We will move back to 1 recess and 1 lunch break Parents can observe the Colour Run from inside the playground - but must observe social distancing and please leave when your child finishes their run! Socially distant PLEASE! Keep riding bikes, keep walking to school, let your kids carry their own bags, let them walk to class with their classmates - they are familiar with this now and all staff have noticed increased levels of independence of all kids. A great by-product of the situation. Obviously social distancing is still in play and mask wearing at appropriate times is a must. Please do not congregate near gates and maintain the 1.5m social distancing between adults. We are extremely proud of and grateful to our community for the way WE have ALL worked through this unique time. Some of us have struggled, some flourished and some just kept on keeping on. Just like in life before COVID! Some of us will be worried or nervous about returning to 'normal' so quickly. We have to admit, we are. Some of us will be ecstatic and dive straight back into things and for some us it will take time. This is a chance to be mindful and empathetic and continue to look after each other no matter what our circumstances are. We will understand that some families will want to be back onsite today and others will need more time. It's ok! We are asking you to respect staff who have made so many adjustments this year and remain outside classrooms. If you require a chat with the teacher, message them via Seesaw first to confirm. Your children - our students, continue to be the main focus. With three and a bit weeks to go, I am asking all families to lift in support of each other, your child's teacher and most importantly your child. Let's finish this year strong and not limp to the line. We will remember this year how we choose to remember it so choose wisely. Be optimistic, remember the good times and enjoy the final 16 days of school for 2020. Scott McCumber & Kristy Hannan-Cuthbertson Scott McCumber Principal Ocean Grove Primary School

08.01.2022 Dear Families, I hope you have all had a great weekend in the glorious sunshine and spoilt your dad, grandfather or other significant father type figure yesterday. Yesterday Premier Andrews made some announcements and no doubt we all have our own thoughts and opinions about them.... From a schools point of view he said "In regional Victoria, all students will return to onsite learning between 12 and 16 October and in Melbourne, VCE and VCAL students and Prep to Grade 2 will also return for onsite learning from the 12 of October." (https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/updates/coronavirus-co...) Last night at about 9.10pm I received an update from DET. In summary, we (Regional Victoria) are remote learning through til at least the end of this term and the first week of term 4. We can do it! The return in week 2, term 4 will be communicated when DET clarify what we can and can't do and how we will manage the return. I am genuinely looking forward to the school buzzing with kids energy and enthusiasm and I hope the Premier's plan enables us to get back ASAP. Until then, we will continue on, have as much fun as we can, make the most of the learning opportunities and the great weather! I'll try to keep you all as updated as I can. I have appreciated your patience and flexibility through all this. Stay positive. Scott McCumber Principal

08.01.2022 Dear Parents/guardians, Please find below copied from PDF doc emailed out today explaining the criteria for acceptance for on-site supervision. ... Dear families, As DET has communicated, schools will be open to support families who are unable to support their child's learning at home. Ocean Grove Primary School will provide on-site provision for students who are vulnerable under the below categories: - Students with a disability - Student in out of home care - Student deemed by Child Protection/and or family service to be at risk of harm - Students identified by the school as vulnerable - Students who can’t be supervised from home because both parent/guardians are unable to work from home DET have released a form for you to use for on-site supervision when/if your request is accepted. This form will also be attached to your on-site supervision email confirmation. This is a week by week process, and will need to be completed by 1pm Thursday the week prior to needing supervision. We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone but please ensure your child is eligible before making a request - see criteria above. Again, we cannot accept late requests or students that are ‘dropped off’ without a booking. There will be a minimum number of staff onsite for supervision based on the requests processed. Please respect this process and the work that is going into remote learning and supervision. Thank you for your assistance with this. Scott McCumber Principal
07.01.2022 Dear Families, Another week down and hopefully a step closer to returning to school. Sunday is a big day - the Premier is making a few announcements so we will all find out at the same time what the next steps are. Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there. I hope you get spoilt and manage to spend some quality time with your kids!... And while I have you all, please check out the new virtual tours that our wonderful Anna Bourke (part of the Admin 'A" team) has been working on. It is hosted on our current website and will be transferred to our new site soon too. http://www.ogps.vic.edu.au/virtual-tour.html Please share this link with other families that may not have enrolled in our great school as we begin to plan for 2021 as best we can! Have a great weekend everyone. Stay positive. Choose optimism and I am looking forward to seeing all the kids back at school soon - hopefully! Scott McCumber Principal

03.01.2022 SCHOOL PHOTOS ARE TODAY Please ensure your child / children are all dressed in school uniform and are at school by 9am.
02.01.2022 COPIED FROM EMAIL SENT OUT MONDAY EVENING : please do not leave questions in the comments, this page is run by parents who are finding out this information at the same time as everyone else. All questions can be emailed through to the school or alternately or call the school. Thank you Dear Families, Thanks for your patience and responsiveness today.... Please keep an eye on your email as I will be sending more information when I hear from DET. We are preparing for onsite supervision and ask you to really consider the need to use this service. A survey to request supervision is available below. The leadership team will review requests tomorrow and confirm with you ASAP via email. Ocean Grove Primary School will provide onsite provision for students who are vulnerable under the below categories: - Students with a disability - Student in out of home care - Student deemed by Child Protection/and or family service to be at risk of harm - Students identified by the school as vulnerable - Students who can't be supervised from home because parent/carer are unable to work from home Please complete the attached form and return by 1pm tomorrow. The Premier's announcements yesterday and today are aiming to drive down the number of COVID-19 cases and for us in regional Victoria, minimise the impact. His advice is clear - stay at home. If you are at home, working from home, studying at home etc, - your children should be with you. Supervision at school is the last option. We will move to remote learning on Wednesday and Thursday this week (Friday is a scheduled Curriculum Day from before the Premier's announcements) and staff are aware that not all iPads have been distributed yet. We will be patient and ask you to be patient too. Hayden, our techie has been flat out today to have them ready as soon as possible. As we move into remote learning, I encourage you to maintain contact with your child's classroom teacher. When teachers are volunteering onsite for supervision over the next 6 weeks, they will not be available to their class on that day. They will give you advanced notice about this. If you request an iPad, you will get one. We aim to contact those families from tomorrow to arrange collection. Please see earlier emails from the Admin team today to request an iPad if needed. Thanks for working with the great team and community at OGPS . It is greatly appreciated. I'll keep you as updated as I can over the next few days. Stay safe everyone.
