24.01.2022 We're very happy to see John Philp from Fiji (JP to those who know him) and Daniel Belcher from Australia appointed to World Sailing's Council to represent Group L which is Oceania. Daniel and John will take over from Sarah Kenny also from Australia, and John Tierney from Cook Islands who have done a crackerjack job over the last four years. More information on the World Sailing elections can be read at https://www.sailing.org/news/90358.php

17.01.2022 More info from Dr George's paper: Te Lapa only seen at night, and seemingly visible out to 100-200 miles. Also apparently seen close in to shore at night when visual contact with land is not possible for whatever reason. Kaveia taught Dr George to stare intently in various directions for long periods of time to see a te lapa in order to get a lead. Sometimes it could take an hour to get a flash. Te Lapa doesn't seem to be associated with any other phenomena. Dark nights were best but not mandatory - Mimi said she saw one with a very bright moon.

15.01.2022 Here's a few pics of our first ever sail on our SV14s. The first ever SV14s sailing in Australia. I'm happy to say that they sail beautifully. Here,we're sail...ing from CCYS to CYC in a very variable breeze, and the boats handled perfectly. The twin rudders on the wide stern means that they keep tracking when heeled, and the 130 kg keel bulb, and the beamy chined hull form means that you don't heel too far, which makes them feel safe and predictable in gusty conditions. The SV14s are a real credit to Simonis and Voogd, the designers and to Fareast Yachts, the builders of these world class disability, performance sailing boats. Don't forget that the designers and the builders have done all of this for free, for the good of sailors, living with disabilities, all over the world. Thanks to them, and to our supporters here, these beautiful boats will provide all the pleasure, challenge and satisfaction to these sailors in Cairns, for decades to come. See more
