24.01.2022 Stand for something. Stand for others. Stand with others. Push yourself, dive deeper. Life is for living, for all. Have you learned anything this week? What have you discovered? Ive learned to listen harder, to listen more, and just be quiet. Ive learned that strength and wisdom can be gained from being gentle and knowledge is received best when accompanied by kindness. .... I definitely feel I can find silver linings. But I know thats not always possible for everyone. ... I hope you all can just keep swimming. 19.01.2022 Friends, check out the amazing company I’ll be in Saturday at the Fremantle Fibonacci Centre ... Christmas covered in ethical style. Hope to see you there

18.01.2022 Wadjemup well known as Rottnest Island is the site of Western Australias most horrific mass black deaths in custody. 400 or more Indigenous human beings died either murdered or through neglect and are buried here with tourists meandering across the burial site daily. We need to recognise this history, hold the guilt and sorrow in our hearts, then use it to power action and meaningful change to make a difference here and now. . A tangible and truly meaningful way you can take action is by supporting any of the many bail support programs opposing institutional oppression of people of colour, especially indigenous in Australia. The program I follow and give to is Sisters Inside.

18.01.2022 Woman that picks up the litter she sees, and carries it until she finds a bin = actual mermaid . Thanks for the gorgeous Jami

16.01.2022 Have you seen the fabulous Blue Planet BBC series? It featured this spectacular breeding aggregation of Cuttlefish. As population reached near collapse, commercial fishing was banned at this location. Well it is now tabled to have that protection removed. Id love if you can add your signature to request that sense prevails and protection as a marine sanctuary is retained. If you havent seen Blue Planet, do yourself a favour a check it out, stunning!!

14.01.2022 It was my extraordinary privilege to swim with these incredible creatures last week with my family. Thanks to Three Islands Whale Shark Dive Exmouth for an incredible day, including the mad skills and enthusiasm of EJs Encounters and the wonderful crew (Capt Shan, trip director Sam, guide Vicki, Dougie on Neville). Filter feeders are perhaps the most vulnerable creatures to human activity. Whether you try to reduce your plastic use for #plasticfreejuly or choose to bike ride instead of drive or think twice about how many pieces of clothing you really need. In any case, choosing well, making things last makes a difference to the state of this, the most beautiful planet we know of. How lucky are we!? aaah life.

14.01.2022 Friends our stunning Calling long sleeved, high waisted, bikini just landed again in Nero/Titanium. It will be available online from next week. So stoked with our plastic free reusable packaging given its #plasticfreejuly

07.01.2022 Forever blowing bubbles = happy

06.01.2022 Invertebrates, animals without a back bone, tend to be the animals most affected by microplastic pollution. They are often filter feeders, gleaning their meal from the water column as they filter it, or consuming sediment cleaning it as they go. Think of crustaceans such as mussels and oysters, Arthropods like tiny krill segmented worms, or echinoderms like sea stars (whose blood is in fact the ocean water) sea cucumbers and sea urchins. However, magnificent creatures li...ke whale sharks also filter vast amounts of water as they feed. . No one knows exactly how much microplastic our clothing contributes to the oceans when we launder synthetic items. But the consensus is it is a lot, and the number one source (Boucher & Friot, 2016) . My own conservative (peer reviewed) model ranges from the equivalent to 7,500 - 37,500 plastic grocery bags entering our oceans every week in Australia alone (based on 90-98% filtration by waste water treatment plants). . In a the current issue of Science of the Total Environment journal, scientists at Plymouth university found several devices used at the washing machine will reduce microplastic pollution from laundry. The two best options being @xfiltra which filters washing machine waste water and @Guppyfriend, that protects clothing and captures fibres that break (Napper, Barrett & Thompson, 2020). . Anything to lessen the burdens on our ocean, whether reducing microplastic pollution or making your clothes last longer is a win. . @ejsencounters @whalesharkdive during a recent family adventure See more

06.01.2022 Become a shark champion! Check out these super cool, but sadly threatened, sharks unique to Australia!

05.01.2022 Have you been tempted by the hype of Black Friday? Totally understand that everyone loves a bargain. We’re not participating though. However, if you do choose to purchase from our store this weekend, we’ll pass on 40% to the amazing program that is @theplasticxchange in Bali. This young organisation exchanges rice for plastic litter in villages of Bali. This is literally a lifeline for some. I plan to continue supporting this organisation going forward. But this weekend, it...’ll be 40% of all sales. I’ll put your name in the Go Fund Me & forward you the email confirmation so you can see the difference you’ve made. So what’s the difference at our end? We support the community that makes our product. By not discounting, we respect the awesome shops that stock our product. Our product is so well made, it’s worth the price on the ticket, and the folks that make it get paid properly. Simple.

03.01.2022 It is the women wearing the swimwear that inspire me to do more

03.01.2022 By now you have read and are shocked and saddened by the news of 20 million litres of oil spilled in Siberia. I know youll be just as saddened to learn that in the Niger Delta in Africa, between 1976 - 2014, on average suffered 40 million litres of oil spills each year. This directly affects the entire community. Children can not play in the dirt. Well water is toxic with heavy metals. Vegetables cant be grown. Fish cant be eaten. Does anyone pay? Does anyone in our privi...leged side of the world know enough about it to care? UNEP estimates 30 years to clean up the mess. Get informed. Be a good ally. There is no environmental conservation, there is no sustainability when we leave a vast proportion of the population behind. Seems highly relevant this week. Ill take this opportunity to say again, I am sorry. Source: Chinedu and Chukwuemeka (2018) Oil Spillage and Heavy Metals Toxicity Risk in the Niger Delta, Nigeria. Journal of Health and Pollution. 02.01.2022 I want these pieces to be as strong, as kind, as supportive, as enduring as the beautiful women wearing them... it’s a big ask... because you my dear ocean lovers, are those wonderful women who inspire me so much... and provide much to live up to. Here an example of an extraordinarily supportive, resilient, kind woman, who always does her best for people and planet.. the beautiful EnviroBren who makes the awesome plastic free VDeo Vegan Deodorant enjoying a north west adventure at the moment, and wearing our first season bikini... I love how these colours and the stretch hold up. . #sunsmartstyle

02.01.2022 Sometimes you need to narrow your focus and do the things that you need to do. With so much information, and noise, and bad news, take some time to immerse yourself in that which you need. Then do something kind for another and thats a great Sunday ocean lovers . This post brought about by the pause, the kindness, and the skills of the wholly beautiful Farai Creative

02.01.2022 The level of salt in our body is pretty well equal to that in the ocean. Stay salty ocean lovers.

02.01.2022 Always was, always will be. We acknowledge and recognise the traditional custodians of this land on which we live, work, play. We pay our respects to the elders, past, present and emerging. We acknowledge their customs and traditions that nourish and protect this Earth. How proud and grateful we are to live in a place with the longest held continuous culture on earth. One that is supreme in its ability to foster custodianship of our Mother Earth.
